1	And these are the generations of Esau, the same is Edom.	These are the generations of Esau (that is, Edom).	This is the account of the family line of Esau (that is, Edom).
2	Esau took wives of the daughters of Chanaan: Ada the daughter of Elon the Hethite, and Oolibama the daughter of Ana, the daughter of Sebeon the Hevite:	Esau took his wives from the Canaanites: Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, Oholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite,	Esau took his wives from the women of Canaan: Adah daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Oholibamah daughter of Anah and granddaughter of Zibeon the Hivite—
3	And Basemath the daughter of Ismael, sister of Nabajoth.	and Basemath, Ishmael’s daughter, the sister of Nebaioth.	also Basemath daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebaioth.
4	And Ada bore Eliphaz: Basemath bore Rahuel:	And Adah bore to Esau, Eliphaz; Basemath bore Reuel;	Adah bore Eliphaz to Esau, Basemath bore Reuel,
5	Oolibama bore Jehus and Ihelon and Core. These are the sons of Esau, that were born to him in the land of Chanaan.	and Oholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam, and Korah. These are the sons of Esau who were born to him in the land of Canaan.	and Oholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam and Korah. These were the sons of Esau, who were born to him in Canaan.
6	And Esau took his wives and his sons and daughters, and every soul of his house, and his substance, and cattle, and all that he was able to acquire in the land of Chanaan: and went into another country, and departed from his brother Jacob.	Then Esau took his wives, his sons, his daughters, and all the members of his household, his livestock, all his beasts, and all his property that he had acquired in the land of Canaan. He went into a land away from his brother Jacob.	Esau took his wives and sons and daughters and all the members of his household, as well as his livestock and all his other animals and all the goods he had acquired in Canaan, and moved to a land some distance from his brother Jacob.
7	For they were exceeding rich, and could not dwell together: neither was the land in which they sojourned able to bear them, for the multitude of their flocks.	For their possessions were too great for them to dwell together. The land of their sojournings could not support them because of their livestock.	Their possessions were too great for them to remain together; the land where they were staying could not support them both because of their livestock.
8	And Esau dwelt in mount Seir: he is Edom.	So Esau settled in the hill country of Seir. (Esau is Edom.)	So Esau (that is, Edom) settled in the hill country of Seir.
9	And these are the generations of Esau the father of Edom in mount Seir,	These are the generations of Esau the father of the Edomites in the hill country of Seir.	This is the account of the family line of Esau the father of the Edomites in the hill country of Seir.
10	And these the names of his sons: Eliphaz the son of Ada the wife of Esau: and Rahnel the son of Basemath his wife.	These are the names of Esau’s sons: Eliphaz the son of Adah the wife of Esau, Reuel the son of Basemath the wife of Esau.	These are the names of Esau’s sons: Eliphaz, the son of Esau’s wife Adah, and Reuel, the son of Esau’s wife Basemath.
11	And Eliphaz had sons: Theman, Omar, Sepho, and Gatham, and Cenee.	The sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam, and Kenaz.	The sons of Eliphaz: Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam and Kenaz.
12	And Thamna was the concubine of Eliphaz the son of Esau: and she bore him Amalech. These are the sons of Ada the wife of Esau.	(Timna was a concubine of Eliphaz, Esau’s son; she bore Amalek to Eliphaz.) These are the sons of Adah, Esau’s wife.	Esau’s son Eliphaz also had a concubine named Timna, who bore him Amalek. These were grandsons of Esau’s wife Adah.
13	And the sons of Rahuel were Nahath and Zara, Samma and Meza. These were the sons of Basemath the wife of Esau.	These are the sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah. These are the sons of Basemath, Esau’s wife.	The sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah. These were grandsons of Esau’s wife Basemath.
14	And these were the sons of Oolibama, the daughter of Ana, the daughter of Sebeon, the wife of Esau, whom she bore to him, Jehus, and Ihelon, and Core.	These are the sons of Oholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon, Esau’s wife: she bore to Esau Jeush, Jalam, and Korah.	The sons of Esau’s wife Oholibamah daughter of Anah and granddaughter of Zibeon, whom she bore to Esau: Jeush, Jalam and Korah.
15	These were dukes of the sons of Esau: the sons of Eliphaz the firstborn of Esau: duke Theman, duke Omar, duke Sepho, duke Cenez,	These are the chiefs of the sons of Esau. The sons of Eliphaz the firstborn of Esau: the chiefs Teman, Omar, Zepho, Kenaz,	These were the chiefs among Esau’s descendants: The sons of Eliphaz the firstborn of Esau: Chiefs Teman, Omar, Zepho, Kenaz,
16	Duke Core, duke Gatham, duke Amalech: these are the sons of Eliphaz, in the land of Edom, and these the Bone of Ada.	Korah, Gatam, and Amalek; these are the chiefs of Eliphaz in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Adah.	Korah, Gatam and Amalek. These were the chiefs descended from Eliphaz in Edom; they were grandsons of Adah.
17	And these were the sons of Rahuel, the son of Esau: duke Nahath, duke Zara, duke Samma, duke Meza. And these are the dukes of Rahuel, in the land of Edom: these the sons of Base- math the wife of Esau.	These are the sons of Reuel, Esau’s son: the chiefs Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah; these are the chiefs of Reuel in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Basemath, Esau’s wife.	The sons of Esau’s son Reuel: Chiefs Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah. These were the chiefs descended from Reuel in Edom; they were grandsons of Esau’s wife Basemath.
18	And these the sons of Oolibama the wife of Esau: duke Jehus, duke Ihelon, duke Core. These are the dukes of Oolibama, the daughter of Ana, and wife of Esau.	These are the sons of Oholibamah, Esau’s wife: the chiefs Jeush, Jalam, and Korah; these are the chiefs born of Oholibamah the daughter of Anah, Esau’s wife.	The sons of Esau’s wife Oholibamah: Chiefs Jeush, Jalam and Korah. These were the chiefs descended from Esau’s wife Oholibamah daughter of Anah.
19	These are the sons of Esau, and these the dukes of them: the same is Edom.	These are the sons of Esau (that is, Edom), and these are their chiefs.	These were the sons of Esau (that is, Edom), and these were their chiefs.
20	These are the sons of Seir the Horrite, the inhabitants of the land: Lotan, and Sobal, and Sebeon, and Ana,	These are the sons of Seir the Horite, the inhabitants of the land: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,	These were the sons of Seir the Horite, who were living in the region: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,
21	And Dison, and Eser, and Disan. These are dukes of the Horrites, the sons of Seir in the land of Edom.	Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan; these are the chiefs of the Horites, the sons of Seir in the land of Edom.	Dishon, Ezer and Dishan. These sons of Seir in Edom were Horite chiefs.
22	And Lotan had sons: Hori and Heman. And the sister of Lotan was Thamna.	The sons of Lotan were Hori and Hemam; and Lotan’s sister was Timna.	The sons of Lotan: Hori and Homam. Timna was Lotan’s sister.
23	And these the sons of Sobal: Alvan and Manahat, and Ebal, and Sepho, and Oman.	These are the sons of Shobal: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam.	The sons of Shobal: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho and Onam.
24	And these the sons of Sebeon: Aia and Ana. This is Ana that found the hot waters in the wilderness, when he fed the asses of Sebeon his father:	These are the sons of Zibeon: Aiah and Anah; he is the Anah who found the hot springs in the wilderness, as he pastured the donkeys of Zibeon his father.	The sons of Zibeon: Aiah and Anah. This is the Anah who discovered the hot springs in the desert while he was grazing the donkeys of his father Zibeon.
25	And he had a son Dison, and a daughter Oolibama.	These are the children of Anah: Dishon and Oholibamah the daughter of Anah.	The children of Anah: Dishon and Oholibamah daughter of Anah.
26	And these were the sons of Dison: Hamdan, and Eseban, and Jethram, and Charan.	These are the sons of Dishon: Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran, and Cheran.	The sons of Dishon: Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran and Keran.
27	These also were the sons of Eser: Balaan, and Zavan, and Acan.	These are the sons of Ezer: Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan.	The sons of Ezer: Bilhan, Zaavan and Akan.
28	And Disan had sons : Hus, and Aram.	These are the sons of Dishan: Uz and Aran.	The sons of Dishan: Uz and Aran.
29	These were dukes of the Horrites: duke Lotan, duke Sobal, duke Sebeon, duke Ana,	These are the chiefs of the Horites: the chiefs Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,	These were the Horite chiefs: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,
30	Duke Dison, duke Eser, duke Disan: these were dukes of the Horrites that ruled in the land of Seir.	Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan; these are the chiefs of the Horites, chief by chief in the land of Seir.	Dishon, Ezer and Dishan. These were the Horite chiefs, according to their divisions, in the land of Seir.
31	And the kings that ruled in the land of Edom, before the children of Israel had a king were these:	These are the kings who reigned in the land of Edom, before any king reigned over the Israelites.	These were the kings who reigned in Edom before any Israelite king reigned:
32	Bela the son of Beer, and the name of his city Denaba.	Bela the son of Beor reigned in Edom, the name of his city being Dinhabah.	Bela son of Beor became king of Edom. His city was named Dinhabah.
33	And Bela died, and Jobab the son of Zara of Bosra reigned in his stead.	Bela died, and Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his place.	When Bela died, Jobab son of Zerah from Bozrah succeeded him as king.
34	And when Jobab was dead, Husam of the land of the Themanites reigned in his stead.	Jobab died, and Husham of the land of the Temanites reigned in his place.	When Jobab died, Husham from the land of the Temanites succeeded him as king.
35	And after his death, Adad the son of Badad reigned in his stead, who defeated the Madianites in the country of Moab: and the name of his city was Avith.	Husham died, and Hadad the son of Bedad, who defeated Midian in the country of Moab, reigned in his place, the name of his city being Avith.	When Husham died, Hadad son of Bedad, who defeated Midian in the country of Moab, succeeded him as king. His city was named Avith.
36	And when Adad was dead, there reigned in his stead, Semla of Masreca.	Hadad died, and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his place.	When Hadad died, Samlah from Masrekah succeeded him as king.
37	And he being dead, Saul of the river Rohoboth, reigned in his stead.	Samlah died, and Shaul of Rehoboth on the Euphrates reigned in his place.	When Samlah died, Shaul from Rehoboth on the river succeeded him as king.
38	And when he also was dead, Balanan the son of Achobor succeeded to the kingdom.	Shaul died, and Baal-hanan the son of Achbor reigned in his place.	When Shaul died, Baal-Hanan son of Akbor succeeded him as king.
39	This man also being dead, Adar reigned in his place, and the name of his city was Phau: and his wife was called Meetabel, the daughter of Matred, daughter of Mezaab.	Baal-hanan the son of Achbor died, and Hadar reigned in his place, the name of his city being Pau; his wife’s name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, daughter of Mezahab.	When Baal-Hanan son of Akbor died, Hadad succeeded him as king. His city was named Pau, and his wife’s name was Mehetabel daughter of Matred, the daughter of Me-Zahab.
40	And these are the names of the dukes of Esau in their kindreds, and places, and callings: duke Thamna, duke Alva, duke Jetheth,	These are the names of the chiefs of Esau, according to their clans and their dwelling places, by their names: the chiefs Timna, Alvah, Jetheth,	These were the chiefs descended from Esau, by name, according to their clans and regions: Timna, Alvah, Jetheth,
41	Duke Oolibama, duke Ela, duke Phinon,	Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon,	Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon,
42	Duke Cenez, duke Theman, duke Mabsar,	Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar,	Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar,
43	Duke Magdiel, duke Hiram: these are the dukes of Edom dwelling in the land of their government; the same is Esau the father of the Edomites.	Magdiel, and Iram; these are the chiefs of Edom (that is, Esau, the father of Edom), according to their dwelling places in the land of their possession.	Magdiel and Iram. These were the chiefs of Edom, according to their settlements in the land they occupied. This is the family line of Esau, the father of the Edomites.
