1 Now these are the generations of Esau, who is Edom. These are the generations of Esau (that is, Edom). This is the account of the family line of Esau (that is, Edom).
2 Esau took wives from the daughters of Canaan: Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Oholibamah the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite, Esau took his wives from the Canaanites: Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, Oholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite, Esau took his wives from the women of Canaan: Adah daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Oholibamah daughter of Anah and granddaughter of Zibeon the Hivite—
3 and Basemath, the daughter of Ishmael, sister of Nebaioth. and Basemath, Ishmael’s daughter, the sister of Nebaioth. also Basemath daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebaioth.
4 Then Adah bore Eliphaz. Basemath conceived Reuel. And Adah bore to Esau, Eliphaz; Basemath bore Reuel; Adah bore Eliphaz to Esau, Basemath bore Reuel,
5 Oholibamah conceived Jeush, and Jalam, and Korah. These are the sons of Esau, who were born to him in the land of Canaan. and Oholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam, and Korah. These are the sons of Esau who were born to him in the land of Canaan. and Oholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam and Korah. These were the sons of Esau, who were born to him in Canaan.
6 Then Esau took his wives, and sons, and daughters, and every soul of his house, and his substance, and cattle, and whatever he was able to obtain in the land of Canaan, and he went into another region, withdrawing from his brother Jacob. Then Esau took his wives, his sons, his daughters, and all the members of his household, his livestock, all his beasts, and all his property that he had acquired in the land of Canaan. He went into a land away from his brother Jacob. Esau took his wives and sons and daughters and all the members of his household, as well as his livestock and all his other animals and all the goods he had acquired in Canaan, and moved to a land some distance from his brother Jacob.
7 For they were very wealthy and were not able to live together. Neither was the land of their sojourn able to sustain them, because of the multitude of their flocks. For their possessions were too great for them to dwell together. The land of their sojournings could not support them because of their livestock. Their possessions were too great for them to remain together; the land where they were staying could not support them both because of their livestock.
8 And Esau lived at mount Seir: he is Edom. So Esau settled in the hill country of Seir. (Esau is Edom.) So Esau (that is, Edom) settled in the hill country of Seir.
9 So these are the generations of Esau, the father of Edom, at mount Seir, These are the generations of Esau the father of the Edomites in the hill country of Seir. This is the account of the family line of Esau the father of the Edomites in the hill country of Seir.
10 and these are the names of his sons: Eliphaz the son of Adah, the wife of Esau, likewise Reuel, the son of Basemath, his wife. These are the names of Esau’s sons: Eliphaz the son of Adah the wife of Esau, Reuel the son of Basemath the wife of Esau. These are the names of Esau’s sons: Eliphaz, the son of Esau’s wife Adah, and Reuel, the son of Esau’s wife Basemath.
11 And Eliphaz had sons: Teman, Omar, Zepho, and Gatam, and Kenez. The sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam, and Kenaz. The sons of Eliphaz: Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam and Kenaz.
12 Now Timna was the concubine of Eliphaz, the son of Esau. And she bore him Amalek. These are the sons of Adah, the wife of Esau. (Timna was a concubine of Eliphaz, Esau’s son; she bore Amalek to Eliphaz.) These are the sons of Adah, Esau’s wife. Esau’s son Eliphaz also had a concubine named Timna, who bore him Amalek. These were grandsons of Esau’s wife Adah.
13 And the sons of Reuel were Nahath and Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah. These are the sons of Basemath, the wife of Esau. These are the sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah. These are the sons of Basemath, Esau’s wife. The sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah. These were grandsons of Esau’s wife Basemath.
14 Likewise, these were the sons of Oholibamah, the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Zibeon, the wife of Esau, whom she bore to him: Jeush, and Jalam, and Korah. These are the sons of Oholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon, Esau’s wife: she bore to Esau Jeush, Jalam, and Korah. The sons of Esau’s wife Oholibamah daughter of Anah and granddaughter of Zibeon, whom she bore to Esau: Jeush, Jalam and Korah.
15 These were leaders of the sons of Esau, the sons of Eliphaz, the firstborn of Esau: leader Teman, leader Omar, leader Zepho, leader Kenez, These are the chiefs of the sons of Esau. These were the chiefs descended from Eliphaz in Edom; they were grandsons of Adah.

The sons of Esau’s son Reuel: Chiefs Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah. These were the chiefs descended from Reuel in Edom; they were grandsons of Esau’s wife Basemath.
18 Now these are the sons of Oholibamah, the wife of Esau: leader Jeush, leader Jalam, leader Korah. These were the leaders of Oholibamah, the daughter of Anah and the wife of Esau. These are the sons of Oholibamah, Esau’s wife: the chiefs Jeush, Jalam, and Korah; these are the chiefs born of Oholibamah the daughter of Anah, Esau’s wife. The sons of Esau’s wife Oholibamah: Chiefs Jeush, Jalam and Korah. These were the chiefs descended from Esau’s wife Oholibamah daughter of Anah.
19 These are the sons of Esau, and these were their leaders: this is Edom. These are the sons of Esau (that is, Edom), and these are their chiefs. These were the sons of Esau (that is, Edom), and these were their chiefs.
20 These are the sons of Seir, the Horite, the inhabitants of the land: Lotan, and Shobal, and Zibeon, and Anah, These are the sons of Seir the Horite, the inhabitants of the land: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, These were the sons of Seir the Horite, who were living in the region: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,
21 and Dishon, and Ezer, and Dishan. These were the leaders of the Horites, the sons of Seir, in the land of Edom. Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan; these are the chiefs of the Horites, the sons of Seir in the land of Edom. Dishon, Ezer and Dishan. These sons of Seir in Edom were Horite chiefs.
22 Now Lotan produced sons: Hori and Heman. But the sister of Lotan was Timna. The sons of Lotan were Hori and Hemam; and Lotan’s sister was Timna. The sons of Lotan: Hori and Homam. Timna was Lotan’s sister.
23 And these are the sons of Shobal: Alvan, and Manahath, and Ebal, and Shepho, and Onam. These are the sons of Shobal: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam. The sons of Shobal: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho and Onam.
24 And these are the sons of Zibeon: Aiah and Anah. This is the Anah who found the hot springs in the wilderness, when he was pasturing the donkeys of his father Zibeon. These are the sons of Zibeon: Aiah and Anah; he is the Anah who found the hot springs in the wilderness, as he pastured the donkeys of Zibeon his father. The sons of Zibeon: Aiah and Anah. This is the Anah who discovered the hot springs in the desert while he was grazing the donkeys of his father Zibeon.
25 And he had a son Dishon, and a daughter Oholibamah. These are the children of Anah: Dishon and Oholibamah the daughter of Anah. The children of Anah: Dishon and Oholibamah daughter of Anah.
26 And these are the sons of Dishon: Hemdan, and Esheban, and Ithran, and Cheran. These are the sons of Dishon: Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran, and Cheran. The sons of Dishon: Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran and Keran.
27 Likewise, these are the sons of Ezer: Bilhan, and Zaavan, and Akan. These are the sons of Ezer: Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan. The sons of Ezer: Bilhan, Zaavan and Akan.
28 Then Dishan had sons: Uz and Aran. These are the sons of Dishan: Uz and Aran. The sons of Dishan: Uz and Aran.
29 These were the leaders of the Horites: leader Lotan, leader Shobal, leader Zibeon, leader Anah, These are the chiefs of the Horites: the chiefs Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, These were the Horite chiefs: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,
30 leader Dishon, leader Ezer, leader Disan. These were leaders of the Horites who ruled in the land of Seir. Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan; these are the chiefs of the Horites, chief by chief in the land of Seir. Dishon, Ezer and Dishan. These were the Horite chiefs, according to their divisions, in the land of Seir.
31 Now before the sons of Israel had a king, the kings who ruled in the land of Edom were these: These are the kings who reigned in the land of Edom, before any king reigned over the Israelites. These were the kings who reigned in Edom before any Israelite king reigned:
32 Bela the son of Beor, and the name of his city was Dinhabah. Bela the son of Beor reigned in Edom, the name of his city being Dinhabah. Bela son of Beor became king of Edom. His city was named Dinhabah.
33 Then Bela died, and Jobab, the son of Zerah from Bozrah, reigned in his place. Bela died, and Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his place. When Bela died, Jobab son of Zerah from Bozrah succeeded him as king.
34 And when Jobab was dead, Husham of the land of the Temanites reigned in his place. Jobab died, and Husham of the land of the Temanites reigned in his place. When Jobab died, Husham from the land of the Temanites succeeded him as king.
35 Likewise, this one having died, Hadad the son of Bedad reigned in his place. He struck down Midian in the region of Moab. And the name of his city was Avith. Husham died, and Hadad the son of Bedad, who defeated Midian in the country of Moab, reigned in his place, the name of his city being Avith. When Husham died, Hadad son of Bedad, who defeated Midian in the country of Moab, succeeded him as king. His city was named Avith.
36 And when Adad was dead, Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his place. Hadad died, and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his place. When Hadad died, Samlah from Masrekah succeeded him as king.
37 Likewise, this one being dead, Shaul of the river Rehoboth, reigned in his place. Samlah died, and Shaul of Rehoboth on the Euphrates reigned in his place. When Samlah died, Shaul from Rehoboth on the river succeeded him as king.
38 And when he also had passed away, Baal-hanan, the son of Achbor, succeeded to the kingdom. Shaul died, and Baal-hanan the son of Achbor reigned in his place. When Shaul died, Baal-Hanan son of Akbor succeeded him as king.
39 Likewise, this one being dead, Hadar reigned in his place; and the name of his city was Pau. And his wife was called Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, daughter of Mezahab. Baal-hanan the son of Achbor died, and Hadar reigned in his place, the name of his city being Pau; his wife’s name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, daughter of Mezahab. When Baal-Hanan son of Akbor died, Hadad succeeded him as king. His city was named Pau, and his wife’s name was Mehetabel daughter of Matred, the daughter of Me-Zahab.
40 Therefore, these were the names of the leaders of Esau, by their families, and places, and in their vocabulary: leader Timna, leader Alvah, leader Jetheth, These are the names of the chiefs of Esau, according to their clans and their dwelling places, by their names: the chiefs Timna, Alvah, Jetheth, These were the chiefs descended from Esau, by name, according to their clans and regions: Timna, Alvah, Jetheth,
41 leader Oholibamah, leader Elah, leader Pinon, Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon, Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon,
42 leader Kanez, leader Teman, leader Mibzar, Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar, Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar,
43 leader Magdiel, leader Iram. These were the leaders of Edom living in the land of their rule: this is Esau, the father of Idumea. Magdiel, and Iram; these are the chiefs of Edom (that is, Esau, the father of Edom), according to their dwelling places in the land of their possession. Magdiel and Iram. These were the chiefs of Edom, according to their settlements in the land they occupied. This is the family line of Esau, the father of the Edomites.
