וַֽיהוָ֛ה פָּקַ֥ד אֶת־ שָׂרָ֖ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר אָמָ֑ר וַיַּ֧עַשׂ יְהוָ֛ה לְשָׂרָ֖ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבֵּֽר׃ | The LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did to Sarah as he had promised. | Now the LORD was gracious to Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did for Sarah what he had promised. |
וַתַּהַר֩ וַתֵּ֨לֶד שָׂרָ֧ה לְאַבְרָהָ֛ם בֵּ֖ן לִזְקֻנָ֑יו לַמּוֹעֵ֕ד אֲשֶׁר־ דִּבֶּ֥ר אֹת֖וֹ אֱלֹהִֽים׃ | And Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age at the time of which God had spoken to him. | Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the very time God had promised him. |
וַיִּקְרָ֨א אַבְרָהָ֜ם אֶֽת־ שֶׁם־ בְּנ֧וֹ הַנּֽוֹלַד־ ל֛וֹ אֲשֶׁר־ יָלְדָה־ לּ֥וֹ שָׂרָ֖ה יִצְחָֽק׃ | Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him, whom Sarah bore him, Isaac. | Abraham gave the name Isaac to the son Sarah bore him. |
וַיָּ֤מָל אַבְרָהָם֙ אֶת־ יִצְחָ֣ק בְּנ֔וֹ בֶּן־ שְׁמֹנַ֖ת יָמִ֑ים כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה אֹת֖וֹ אֱלֹהִֽים׃ | And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him. | When his son Isaac was eight days old, Abraham circumcised him, as God commanded him. |
וְאַבְרָהָ֖ם בֶּן־ מְאַ֣ת שָׁנָ֑ה בְּהִוָּ֣לֶד ל֔וֹ אֵ֖ת יִצְחָ֥ק בְּנֽוֹ׃ | Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him. | Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him. |
וַתֹּ֣אמֶר שָׂרָ֔ה צְחֹ֕ק עָ֥שָׂה לִ֖י אֱלֹהִ֑ים כָּל־ הַשֹּׁמֵ֖עַ יִֽצְחַק־ לִֽי׃ | And Sarah said, “God has made laughter for me; everyone who hears will laugh over me.” | Sarah said, “God has brought me laughter, and everyone who hears about this will laugh with me.” |
וַתֹּ֗אמֶר מִ֤י מִלֵּל֙ לְאַבְרָהָ֔ם הֵינִ֥יקָה בָנִ֖ים שָׂרָ֑ה כִּֽי־ יָלַ֥דְתִּי בֵ֖ן לִזְקֻנָֽיו׃ | And she said, “Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have borne him a son in his old age.” | And she added, “Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have borne him a son in his old age.” |
וַיִּגְדַּ֥ל הַיֶּ֖לֶד וַיִּגָּמַ֑ל וַיַּ֤עַשׂ אַבְרָהָם֙ מִשְׁתֶּ֣ה גָד֔וֹל בְּי֖וֹם הִגָּמֵ֥ל אֶת־ יִצְחָֽק׃ | And the child grew and was weaned. And Abraham made a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned. | The child grew and was weaned, and on the day Isaac was weaned Abraham held a great feast. |
וַתֵּ֨רֶא שָׂרָ֜ה אֶֽת־ בֶּן־ הָגָ֧ר הַמִּצְרִ֛ית אֲשֶׁר־ יָלְדָ֥ה לְאַבְרָהָ֖ם מְצַחֵֽק׃ | But Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, laughing. | But Sarah saw that the son whom Hagar the Egyptian had borne to Abraham was mocking, |
וַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙ לְאַבְרָהָ֔ם גָּרֵ֛שׁ הָאָמָ֥ה הַזֹּ֖את וְאֶת־ בְּנָ֑הּ כִּ֣י לֹ֤א יִירַשׁ֙ בֶּן־ הָאָמָ֣ה הַזֹּ֔את עִם־ בְּנִ֖י עִם־ יִצְחָֽק׃ | So she said to Abraham, “Cast out this slave woman with her son, for the son of this slave woman shall not be heir with my son Isaac.” | and she said to Abraham, “Get rid of that slave woman and her son, for that woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with my son Isaac.” |
וַיֵּ֧רַע הַדָּבָ֛ר מְאֹ֖ד בְּעֵינֵ֣י אַבְרָהָ֑ם עַ֖ל אוֹדֹ֥ת בְּנֽוֹ׃ | And the thing was very displeasing to Abraham on account of his son. | The matter distressed Abraham greatly because it concerned his son. |
