1	Now the LORD attended to Sarah as He had said, and the LORD did for Sarah what He had promised.	The LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did to Sarah as he had promised.	And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken.	Now the LORD was gracious to Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did for Sarah what he had promised.	The LORD kept his word and did for Sarah exactly what he had promised.
2	So Sarah conceived and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the very time God had promised.	And Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age at the time of which God had spoken to him.	For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.	Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the very time God had promised him.	She became pregnant, and she gave birth to a son for Abraham in his old age. This happened at just the time God had said it would.
3	And Abraham gave the name Isaac to the son Sarah bore to him.	Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him, whom Sarah bore him, Isaac.	And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.	Abraham gave the name Isaac to the son Sarah bore him.	And Abraham named their son Isaac.
4	When his son Isaac was eight days old, Abraham circumcised him, as God had commanded him.	And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him.	And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac being eight days old, as God had commanded him.	When his son Isaac was eight days old, Abraham circumcised him, as God commanded him.	Eight days after Isaac was born, Abraham circumcised him as God had commanded.
5	Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him.	Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him.	And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him.	Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him.	Abraham was 100 years old when Isaac was born.
6	Then Sarah said, “God has made me laugh, and everyone who hears of this will laugh with me.”	And Sarah said, “God has made laughter for me; everyone who hears will laugh over me.”	And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me.	Sarah said, “God has brought me laughter, and everyone who hears about this will laugh with me.”	And Sarah declared, “God has brought me laughter. All who hear about this will laugh with me.
7	She added, “Who would have told Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have borne him a son in his old age.”	And she said, “Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have borne him a son in his old age.”	And she said, Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have given children suck? for I have born him a son in his old age.	And she added, “Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have borne him a son in his old age.”	Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse a baby? Yet I have given Abraham a son in his old age!”
8	So the child grew and was weaned, and Abraham held a great feast on the day Isaac was weaned.	And the child grew and was weaned. And Abraham made a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned.	And the child grew, and was weaned: and Abraham made a great feast the same day that Isaac was weaned.	The child grew and was weaned, and on the day Isaac was weaned Abraham held a great feast.	When Isaac grew up and was about to be weaned, Abraham prepared a huge feast to celebrate the occasion.
9	But Sarah saw that the son whom Hagar the Egyptian had borne to Abraham was mocking her son,	But Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, laughing.	And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking.	But Sarah saw that the son whom Hagar the Egyptian had borne to Abraham was mocking,	But Sarah saw Ishmael—the son of Abraham and her Egyptian servant Hagar—making fun of her son, Isaac.
10	and she said to Abraham, “Expel the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with my son Isaac!”	So she said to Abraham, “Cast out this slave woman with her son, for the son of this slave woman shall not be heir with my son Isaac.”	Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac.	and she said to Abraham, “Get rid of that slave woman and her son, for that woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with my son Isaac.”	So she turned to Abraham and demanded, “Get rid of that slave woman and her son. He is not going to share the inheritance with my son, Isaac. I won’t have it!”
11	Now this matter distressed Abraham greatly because it concerned his son Ishmael.	And the thing was very displeasing to Abraham on account of his son.	And the thing was very grievous in Abraham's sight because of his son.	The matter distressed Abraham greatly because it concerned his son.	This upset Abraham very much because Ishmael was his son.
12	But God said to Abraham, “Do not be distressed about the boy and your maidservant. Listen to everything that Sarah tells you, for through Isaac your offspring will be reckoned.	But God said to Abraham, “Be not displeased because of the boy and because of your slave woman. Whatever Sarah says to you, do as she tells you, for through Isaac shall your offspring be named.	And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.	But God said to him, “Do not be so distressed about the boy and your slave woman. Listen to whatever Sarah tells you, because it is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.	But God told Abraham, “Do not be upset over the boy and your servant. Do whatever Sarah tells you, for Isaac is the son through whom your descendants will be counted.
13	But I will also make a nation of the slave woman’s son, because he is your offspring.”	And I will make a nation of the son of the slave woman also, because he is your offspring.”	And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed.	I will make the son of the slave into a nation also, because he is your offspring.”	But I will also make a nation of the descendants of Hagar’s son because he is your son, too.”
14	Early in the morning, Abraham got up, took bread and a skin of water, put them on Hagar’s shoulders, and sent her away with the boy. She left and wandered in the Wilderness of Beersheba.	So Abraham rose early in the morning and took bread and a skin of water and gave it to Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, along with the child, and sent her away. And she departed and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.	And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.	Early the next morning Abraham took some food and a skin of water and gave them to Hagar. He set them on her shoulders and then sent her off with the boy. She went on her way and wandered in the Desert of Beersheba.	So Abraham got up early the next morning, prepared food and a container of water, and strapped them on Hagar’s shoulders. Then he sent her away with their son, and she wandered aimlessly in the wilderness of Beersheba.
15	When the water in the skin was gone, she left the boy under one of the bushes.	When the water in the skin was gone, she put the child under one of the bushes. 16	Then she went off and sat down nearby, about a bowshot away, for she said, “I cannot bear to watch the boy die!” And as she sat nearby, she lifted up her voice and wept. And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bowshot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lift up her voice, and wept.	Then she went off and sat down about a bowshot away, for she thought, “I cannot watch the boy die.” And as she sat there, she began to sob.	Then she went and sat down by herself about a hundred yards away. “I don’t want to watch the boy die,” she said, as she burst into tears.
17	Then God heard the voice of the boy, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven, “What is wrong, Hagar? Do not be afraid, for God has heard the voice of the boy where he lies.	And God heard the voice of the boy, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, “What troubles you, Hagar? Fear not, for God has heard the voice of the boy where he is.	And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.	God heard the boy crying, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, “What is the matter, Hagar? Do not be afraid; God has heard the boy crying as he lies there.	But God heard the boy crying, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven, “Hagar, what’s wrong? Do not be afraid! God has heard the boy crying as he lies there.
18	Get up, lift up the boy, and take him by the hand, for I will make him into a great nation.”	Up! Lift up the boy, and hold him fast with your hand, for I will make him into a great nation.”	Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation.	Lift the boy up and take him by the hand, for I will make him into a great nation.”	Go to him and comfort him, for I will make a great nation from his descendants.”
19	Then God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. So she went and filled the skin with water and gave the boy a drink.	Then God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. 21	And while he was dwelling in the Wilderness of Paran, his mother got a wife for him from the land of Egypt.	He lived in the wilderness of Paran, and his mother took a wife for him from the land of Egypt.	And he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran: and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt.	While he was living in the Desert of Paran, his mother got a wife for him from Egypt.	and he settled in the wilderness of Paran. His mother arranged for him to marry a woman from the land of Egypt.
22	At that time Abimelech and Phicol the commander of his army said to Abraham, “God is with you in all that you do.	At that time Abimelech and Phicol the commander of his army said to Abraham, “God is with you in all that you do.	And it came to pass at that time, that Abimelech and Phichol the chief captain of his host spake unto Abraham, saying, God is with thee in all that thou doest:	At that time Abimelek and Phicol the commander of his forces said to Abraham, “God is with you in everything you do.	About this time, Abimelech came with Phicol, his army commander, to visit Abraham. “God is obviously with you, helping you in everything you do,” Abimelech said.
23	Now, therefore, swear to me here before God that you will not deal falsely with me or my children or descendants. Show to me and to the country in which you reside the same kindness that I have shown to you.”	Now therefore swear to me here by God that you will not deal falsely with me or with my descendants or with my posterity, but as I have dealt kindly with you, so you will deal with me and with the land where you have sojourned.”	Now therefore swear unto me here by God that thou wilt not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son's son: but according to the kindness that I have done unto thee, thou shalt do unto me, and to the land wherein thou hast sojourned.	Now swear to me here before God that you will not deal falsely with me or my children or my descendants. Show to me and the country where you now reside as a foreigner the same kindness I have shown to you.”	“Swear to me in God’s name that you will never deceive me, my children, or any of my descendants. I have been loyal to you, so now swear that you will be loyal to me and to this country where you are living as a foreigner.”
24	And Abraham replied, “I swear it.”	And Abraham said, “I will swear.”	And Abraham said, I will swear.	Abraham said, “I swear it.”	Abraham replied, “Yes, I swear to it!”
25	But when Abraham complained to Abimelech about a well that Abimelech’s servants had seized,	When Abraham reproved Abimelech about a well of water that Abimelech’s servants had seized,	And Abraham reproved Abimelech because of a well of water, which Abimelech's servants had violently taken away.	Then Abraham complained to Abimelek about a well of water that Abimelek’s servants had seized.	Then Abraham complained to Abimelech about a well that Abimelech’s servants had taken by force from Abraham’s servants.
26	Abimelech replied, “I do not know who has done this. You did not tell me, so I have not heard about it until today.”	Abimelech said, “I do not know who has done this thing; you did not tell me, and I have not heard of it until today.”	And Abimelech said, I wot not who hath done this thing: neither didst thou tell me, neither yet heard I of it, but to day.	But Abimelek said, “I don’t know who has done this. You did not tell me, and I heard about it only today.”	“This is the first I’ve heard of it,” Abimelech answered. “I have no idea who is responsible. You have never complained about this before.”
27	So Abraham brought sheep and cattle and gave them to Abimelech, and the two men made a covenant.	So Abraham took sheep and oxen and gave them to Abimelech, and the two men made a covenant.	And Abraham took sheep and oxen, and gave them unto Abimelech; and both of them made a covenant.	So Abraham brought sheep and cattle and gave them to Abimelek, and the two men made a treaty.	Abraham then gave some of his sheep, goats, and cattle to Abimelech, and they made a treaty.
28	Abraham separated seven ewe lambs from the flock,	Abraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock apart.	And Abraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock by themselves.	Abraham set apart seven ewe lambs from the flock,	But Abraham also took seven additional female lambs and set them off by themselves.
29	and Abimelech asked him, “Why have you set apart these seven ewe lambs?”	And Abimelech said to Abraham, “What is the meaning of these seven ewe lambs that you have set apart?”	And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What mean these seven ewe lambs which thou hast set by themselves?	and Abimelek asked Abraham, “What is the meaning of these seven ewe lambs you have set apart by themselves?”	Abimelech asked, “Why have you set these seven apart from the others?”
30	He replied, “You are to accept the seven ewe lambs from my hand as my witness that I dug this well.”	He said, “These seven ewe lambs you will take from my hand, that this may be a witness for me that I dug this well.”	And he said, For these seven ewe lambs shalt thou take of my hand, that they may be a witness unto me, that I have digged this well.	He replied, “Accept these seven lambs from my hand as a witness that I dug this well.”	Abraham replied, “Please accept these seven lambs to show your agreement that I dug this well.”
31	So that place was called Beersheba, because it was there that the two of them swore an oath.	Therefore that place was called Beersheba, because there both of them swore an oath.	Wherefore he called that place Beersheba; because there they sware both of them.	So that place was called Beersheba, because the two men swore an oath there.	Then he named the place Beersheba (which means “well of the oath”), because that was where they had sworn the oath.
32	After they had made the covenant at Beersheba, Abimelech and Phicol the commander of his army got up and returned to the land of the Philistines.	So they made a covenant at Beersheba. Then Abimelech and Phicol the commander of his army rose up and returned to the land of the Philistines.	Thus they made a covenant at Beersheba: then Abimelech rose up, and Phichol the chief captain of his host, and they returned into the land of the Philistines.	After the treaty had been made at Beersheba, Abimelek and Phicol the commander of his forces returned to the land of the Philistines.	After making their covenant at Beersheba, Abimelech left with Phicol, the commander of his army, and they returned home to the land of the Philistines.
33	And Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba, and there he called upon the name of the LORD, the Eternal God.	Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba and called there on the name of the LORD, the Everlasting God.	And Abraham planted a grove in Beersheba, and called there on the name of the LORD, the everlasting God.	Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba, and there he called on the name of the LORD, the Eternal God.	Then Abraham planted a tamarisk tree at Beersheba, and there he worshiped the LORD, the Eternal God.
34	And Abraham resided in the land of the Philistines for a long time.	And Abraham sojourned many days in the land of the Philistines.	And Abraham sojourned in the Philistines' land many days.	And Abraham stayed in the land of the Philistines for a long time.	And Abraham lived as a foreigner in Philistine country for a long time.
