1 But to Moses the LORD said, |Come up to the LORD, you and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, and worship from a distance. Then he said to Moses, “Come up to the LORD, you and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, and worship from afar. Then the LORD said to Moses, “Come up to the LORD, you and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel. You are to worship at a distance,
2 Moses alone may come near the LORD, but the others must not come near, nor may the people go up with him.| Moses alone shall come near to the LORD, but the others shall not come near, and the people shall not come up with him.” but Moses alone is to approach the LORD; the others must not come near. And the people may not come up with him.”
3 Moses came and told the people all the LORD's words and all the decisions. All the people answered together, |We are willing to do all the words that the LORD has said,| Moses came and told the people all the words of the LORD and all the rules. And all the people answered with one voice and said, “All the words that the LORD has spoken we will do.” When Moses went and told the people all the LORD’s words and laws, they responded with one voice, “Everything the LORD has said we will do.”
4 and Moses wrote down all the words of the LORD. Early in the morning he built an altar at the foot of the mountain and arranged twelve standing stones--according to the twelve tribes of Israel. And Moses wrote down all the words of the LORD. He rose early in the morning and built an altar at the foot of the mountain, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel. Moses then wrote down everything the LORD had said. He got up early the next morning and built an altar at the foot of the mountain and set up twelve stone pillars representing the twelve tribes of Israel.
5 He sent young Israelite men, and they offered burnt offerings and sacrificed young bulls for peace offerings to the LORD. And he sent young men of the people of Israel, who offered burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen to the LORD. Then he sent young Israelite men, and they offered burnt offerings and sacrificed young bulls as fellowship offerings to the LORD.
6 Moses took half of the blood and put it in bowls, and half of the blood he splashed on the altar. They responded, “We will do everything the LORD has said; we will obey.”
8 So Moses took the blood and splashed it on the people and said, |This is the blood of the covenant that the LORD has made with you in accordance with all these words.| And Moses took the blood and threw it on the people and said, “Behold the blood of the covenant that the LORD has made with you in accordance with all these words.” Moses then took the blood, sprinkled it on the people and said, “This is the blood of the covenant that the LORD has made with you in accordance with all these words.”

11 But he did not lay a hand on the leaders of the Israelites, so they saw God, and they ate and they drank. And he did not lay his hand on the chief men of the people of Israel; they beheld God, and ate and drank. But God did not raise his hand against these leaders of the Israelites; they saw God, and they ate and drank.
12 The LORD said to Moses, |Come up to me to the mountain and remain there, and I will give you the stone tablets with the law and the commandments that I have written, so that you may teach them.| The LORD said to Moses, “Come up to me on the mountain and wait there, that I may give you the tablets of stone, with the law and the commandment, which I have written for their instruction.” The LORD said to Moses, “Come up to me on the mountain and stay here, and I will give you the tablets of stone with the law and commandments I have written for their instruction.”
13 So Moses set out with Joshua his attendant, and Moses went up the mountain of God. So Moses rose with his assistant Joshua, and Moses went up into the mountain of God. Then Moses set out with Joshua his aide, and Moses went up on the mountain of God.
14 He told the elders, |Wait for us in this place until we return to you. Here are Aaron and Hur with you. Whoever has any matters of dispute can approach them.| And he said to the elders, “Wait here for us until we return to you. And behold, Aaron and Hur are with you. Whoever has a dispute, let him go to them.” He said to the elders, “Wait here for us until we come back to you. Aaron and Hur are with you, and anyone involved in a dispute can go to them.”
15 Moses went up the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain. Then Moses went up on the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain. When Moses went up on the mountain, the cloud covered it,
16 The glory of the LORD resided on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days. On the seventh day he called to Moses from within the cloud. The glory of the LORD dwelt on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days. And on the seventh day he called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud. and the glory of the LORD settled on Mount Sinai. For six days the cloud covered the mountain, and on the seventh day the LORD called to Moses from within the cloud.
17 Now the appearance of the glory of the LORD was like a devouring fire on the top of the mountain in plain view of the people. Now the appearance of the glory of the LORD was like a devouring fire on the top of the mountain in the sight of the people of Israel. To the Israelites the glory of the LORD looked like a consuming fire on top of the mountain.
18 Moses went into the cloud when he went up the mountain, and Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights. Moses entered the cloud and went up on the mountain. And Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights. Then Moses entered the cloud as he went on up the mountain. And he stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights.
