1	Then Solomon said: “YHWH said He would dwell in the dark cloud.	Then Solomon said, “The LORD has said that he would dwell in thick darkness.	Then Solomon said, “The LORD has said that he would dwell in a dark cloud;
2	And I have surely built a house exalted unto You, and a place for Your dwelling forever.”	But I have built you an exalted house, a place for you to dwell in forever.”	I have built a magnificent temple for you, a place for you to dwell forever.”
3	And the king turned around his face, and he blessed all the assembly of Israel, and all the assembly of Israel was standing.	Then the king turned around and blessed all the assembly of Israel, while all the assembly of Israel stood.	While the whole assembly of Israel was standing there, the king turned around and blessed them.
4	And he said: “Blessed be YHWH, God of Israel, who has spoken with His mouth to David my father, and with His hands He has fulfilled it, saying,	And he said, “Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who with his hand has fulfilled what he promised with his mouth to David my father, saying,	Then he said: “Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, who with his hands has fulfilled what he promised with his mouth to my father David. For he said,
5	‘Since the day that I brought My people out of the land of Egypt, I have not chosen a city from any tribe of Israel in which to build a house for My name being there, and I have not chosen any man to be a ruler over My people Israel.	‘Since the day that I brought my people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house, that my name might be there, and I chose no man as prince over my people Israel;	Since the day I brought my people out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city in any tribe of Israel to have a temple built so that my Name might be there, nor have I chosen anyone to be ruler over my people Israel.
6	And I have chosen Jerusalem for my name to be there, and I have chosen David to be over My people Israel.’	but I have chosen Jerusalem that my name may be there, and I have chosen David to be over my people Israel.’	But now I have chosen Jerusalem for my Name to be there, and I have chosen David to rule my people Israel.’
7	And it was with the heart of David my father to build a temple for the Name of YHWH, God of Israel.	Now it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of the LORD, the God of Israel.	“My father David had it in his heart to build a temple for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel.
8	And YHWH said to David my father, ‘Because that it was with your heart to build a house for My name, you did well in that it was with your heart.	But the LORD said to David my father, ‘Whereas it was in your heart to build a house for my name, you did well that it was in your heart.	But the LORD said to my father David, ‘You did well to have it in your heart to build a temple for my Name.
9	Nevertheless, you shall not build the temple; but your son who will come from your loins, he shall build the house for My Name.’	Nevertheless, it is not you who shall build the house, but your son who shall be born to you shall build the house for my name.’	Nevertheless, you are not the one to build the temple, but your son, your own flesh and blood—he is the one who will build the temple for my Name.’
10	And YHWH has fulfilled His word that He spoke, and I have risen instead of David my father and sit on the throne of Israel, as YHWH spoke, and I have built the house for the name of YHWH, God of Israel.	Now the LORD has fulfilled his promise that he made. For I have risen in the place of David my father and sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and I have built the house for the name of the LORD, the God of Israel.	“The LORD has kept the promise he made. I have succeeded David my father and now I sit on the throne of Israel, just as the LORD promised, and I have built the temple for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel.
11	And I have put there the ark, in which there is the covenant of YHWH, which He cut with the sons of Israel.”	And there I have set the ark, in which is the covenant of the LORD that he made with the people of Israel.”	There I have placed the ark, in which is the covenant of the LORD that he made with the people of Israel.”
12	And he stood before the face of the altar of YHWH in front of all the assembly of Israel and spread out his hands.	Then Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in the presence of all the assembly of Israel and spread out his hands.	Then Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in front of the whole assembly of Israel and spread out his hands.
13	For Solomon had made a bronze platform and had set it in the midst of the court: Five cubits long, and five cubits wide, and three cubits high. And he stood on it, and he knelt down on his knees before all the assembly of Israel, and he spread out his hands toward the heavens,	Solomon had made a bronze platform five cubits long, five cubits wide, and three cubits high, and had set it in the court, and he stood on it. Then he knelt on his knees in the presence of all the assembly of Israel, and spread out his hands toward heaven,	Now he had made a bronze platform, five cubits long, five cubits wide and three cubits high, and had placed it in the center of the outer court. He stood on the platform and then knelt down before the whole assembly of Israel and spread out his hands toward heaven.
14	and he said: “O YHWH, God of Israel, there is not a god like You in the heavens or on the earth, who keeps the covenant of loving devotion with Your servants walking before You with all their heart,	and said, “O LORD, God of Israel, there is no God like you, in heaven or on earth, keeping covenant and showing steadfast love to your servants who walk before you with all their heart,	He said: “LORD, the God of Israel, there is no God like you in heaven or on earth—you who keep your covenant of love with your servants who continue wholeheartedly in your way.
15	who has kept for Your servant David my father what You spoke to him. You have spoken with Your mouth and with Your hand you have fulfilled it, as this day.	who have kept with your servant David my father what you declared to him. You spoke with your mouth, and with your hand have fulfilled it this day.	You have kept your promise to your servant David my father; with your mouth you have promised and with your hand you have fulfilled it—as it is today.
16	And now, O YHWH, God of Israel, keep for Your servant David my father what You spoke to him, saying, ‘You shall not fail to have a man before Me, to sit on the throne of Israel, only if your sons take heed to their way, to walk in My law, as you have walked before My face.’	Now therefore, O LORD, God of Israel, keep for your servant David my father what you have promised him, saying, ‘You shall not lack a man to sit before me on the throne of Israel, if only your sons pay close attention to their way, to walk in my law as you have walked before me.’	“Now, LORD, the God of Israel, keep for your servant David my father the promises you made to him when you said, ‘You shall never fail to have a successor to sit before me on the throne of Israel, if only your descendants are careful in all they do to walk before me according to my law, as you have done.’
17	And, O YHWH, God of Israel, confirm Your word that You have spoken to Your servant David.	Now therefore, O LORD, God of Israel, let your word be confirmed, which you have spoken to your servant David.	And now, LORD, the God of Israel, let your word that you promised your servant David come true.
18	But will God indeed dwell with men on the earth? Behold, the heavens, and the heavens of the heavens cannot contain You. How much less this house that I have built!	“But will God indeed dwell with man on the earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain you, how much less this house that I have built!	“But will God really dwell on earth with humans? The heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built!
19	And You have turned toward the prayer of Your servant and his supplication, O YHWH my God, to listen to the cry and the prayer that Your servant is praying before You.	Yet have regard to the prayer of your servant and to his plea, O LORD my God, listening to the cry and to the prayer that your servant prays before you,	Yet, LORD my God, give attention to your servant’s prayer and his plea for mercy. Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is praying in your presence.
20	For may Your eyes be open toward this house day and night, toward the place where You have said to put Your name, that You may listen to the prayer that Your servant prays toward this place.	that your eyes may be open day and night toward this house, the place where you have promised to set your name, that you may listen to the prayer that your servant offers toward this place.	May your eyes be open toward this temple day and night, this place of which you said you would put your Name there. May you hear the prayer your servant prays toward this place.
21	And may You listen to the supplications of Your servant and of Your people Israel when they pray toward this place, and may You hear from Your dwelling place, the heavens, and may You hear and forgive.	And listen to the pleas of your servant and of your people Israel, when they pray toward this place. And listen from heaven your dwelling place, and when you hear, forgive.	Hear the supplications of your servant and of your people Israel when they pray toward this place. Hear from heaven, your dwelling place; and when you hear, forgive.
22	If anyone sins against his neighbor, and it is lifted up upon him to take an oath to swear, and he comes in to swear before Your altar in this house,	“If a man sins against his neighbor and is made to take an oath and comes and swears his oath before your altar in this house,	“When anyone wrongs their neighbor and is required to take an oath and they come and swear the oath before your altar in this temple,
23	then may You hear from the heavens and act and judge Your servants, to give back to the wicked by bringing his way on his own head, and to justify the righteous by giving to him according to his righteousness.	then hear from heaven and act and judge your servants, repaying the guilty by bringing his conduct on his own head, and vindicating the righteous by rewarding him according to his righteousness.	then hear from heaven and act. Judge between your servants, condemning the guilty and bringing down on their heads what they have done, and vindicating the innocent by treating them in accordance with their innocence.
24	And if Your people Israel are struck before an enemy because they have sinned against You, and they return and confess Your name, and they pray and make supplication before You in this house,	“If your people Israel are defeated before the enemy because they have sinned against you, and they turn again and acknowledge your name and pray and plead with you in this house,	“When your people Israel have been defeated by an enemy because they have sinned against you and when they turn back and give praise to your name, praying and making supplication before you in this temple,
25	then may You hear from the heavens and forgive the sin of Your people Israel, and bring them back to the land that You gave to them and to their fathers.	then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your people Israel and bring them again to the land that you gave to them and to their fathers.	then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your people Israel and bring them back to the land you gave to them and their ancestors.
26	When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because they have sinned against You, and they pray toward this place and confess Your name, and from their sin they turn back because You afflict them,	“When heaven is shut up and there is no rain because they have sinned against you, if they pray toward this place and acknowledge your name and turn from their sin, when you afflict them,	“When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because your people have sinned against you, and when they pray toward this place and give praise to your name and turn from their sin because you have afflicted them,
27	then may You hear in the heavens and forgive the sin of Your servants and of Your people Israel, that You may direct them toward the good way that they should walk in it, and give rain on Your land that You have given to Your people as an inheritance.	then hear in heaven and forgive the sin of your servants, your people Israel, when you teach them the good way in which they should walk, and grant rain upon your land, which you have given to your people as an inheritance.	then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your servants, your people Israel. Teach them the right way to live, and send rain on the land you gave your people for an inheritance.
28	Famine, when it is in the land, or there is pestilence, blight or mildew, locust or grasshoppers, when it is that their enemies besiege them in their land—its gates—any plague and any sickness,	“If there is famine in the land, if there is pestilence or blight or mildew or locust or caterpillar, if their enemies besiege them in the land at their gates, whatever plague, whatever sickness there is,	“When famine or plague comes to the land, or blight or mildew, locusts or grasshoppers, or when enemies besiege them in any of their cities, whatever disaster or disease may come,
29	any prayer, any supplication that is by any man, or by all Your people Israel, when they know, each one, his own burden and his own grief, and he spreads out his hands to this house,	whatever prayer, whatever plea is made by any man or by all your people Israel, each knowing his own affliction and his own sorrow and stretching out his hands toward this house,	and when a prayer or plea is made by anyone among your people Israel—being aware of their afflictions and pains, and spreading out their hands toward this temple—
30	then may You hear from the heavens, the fixed place of Your dwelling, and forgive, and give to each man according to all his ways (since You know his heart, for You alone know the heart of the sons of men),	then hear from heaven your dwelling place and forgive and render to each whose heart you know, according to all his ways, for you, you only, know the hearts of the children of mankind,	then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Forgive, and deal with everyone according to all they do, since you know their hearts (for you alone know the human heart),
31	that they may fear You to walk in Your ways all the days that they live on the face of the ground that You have given to our fathers.	that they may fear you and walk in your ways all the days that they live in the land that you gave to our fathers.	so that they will fear you and walk in obedience to you all the time they live in the land you gave our ancestors.
32	And also concerning the foreigner who is not of Your people Israel, and he comes from a distant country for the sake of Your great name, and Your mighty hand, and Your outstretched arm, and they come and pray in this house,	“Likewise, when a foreigner, who is not of your people Israel, comes from a far country for the sake of your great name and your mighty hand and your outstretched arm, when he comes and prays toward this house,	“As for the foreigner who does not belong to your people Israel but has come from a distant land because of your great name and your mighty hand and your outstretched arm—when they come and pray toward this temple,
33	then may You hear from the heavens, the fixed place of Your dwelling, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to You, so that all the peoples of the earth may know Your name and fear You, as do Your people Israel, that they may know that Your name is called upon this house that I have built.	hear from heaven your dwelling place and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to you, in order that all the peoples of the earth may know your name and fear you, as do your people Israel, and that they may know that this house that I have built is called by your name.	then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Do whatever the foreigner asks of you, so that all the peoples of the earth may know your name and fear you, as do your own people Israel, and may know that this house I have built bears your Name.
34	When Your people go out to battle against their enemies in the way that You send them, and they pray to You toward this city that You have chosen and the house that I have built for Your name,	“If your people go out to battle against their enemies, by whatever way you shall send them, and they pray to you toward this city that you have chosen and the house that I have built for your name,	“When your people go to war against their enemies, wherever you send them, and when they pray to you toward this city you have chosen and the temple I have built for your Name,
35	then may You hear from the heavens their prayer and their supplication, and may You maintain their cause.	then hear from heaven their prayer and their plea, and maintain their cause.	then hear from heaven their prayer and their plea, and uphold their cause.
36	When they sin against You—for there is no one who does not sin—and You become angry with them and deliver them to the enemy, and their captors take them captive to a land distant or near,	“If they sin against you—for there is no one who does not sin—and you are angry with them and give them to an enemy, so that they are carried away captive to a land far or near,	“When they sin against you—for there is no one who does not sin—and you become angry with them and give them over to the enemy, who takes them captive to a land far away or near;
37	and they come to themselves in the land where they were carried captive there, and they turn and make supplication to You in the land of their captivity, saying, ‘We have sinned, we have done wrong, and have committed wickedness,’	yet if they turn their heart in the land to which they have been carried captive, and repent and plead with you in the land of their captivity, saying, ‘We have sinned and have acted perversely and wickedly,’	and if they have a change of heart in the land where they are held captive, and repent and plead with you in the land of their captivity and say, ‘We have sinned, we have done wrong and acted wickedly’;
38	and they return to You with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity where they have been carried captive, and they pray toward their land that You gave to their fathers, and the city that You have chosen, and toward the house that I have built for Your name,	if they repent with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity to which they were carried captive, and pray toward their land, which you gave to their fathers, the city that you have chosen and the house that I have built for your name,	and if they turn back to you with all their heart and soul in the land of their captivity where they were taken, and pray toward the land you gave their ancestors, toward the city you have chosen and toward the temple I have built for your Name;
39	then may You hear from the heavens, the fixed place of Your dwelling, their prayer and their supplications, and may You maintain their cause and forgive Your people who have sinned against You.	then hear from heaven your dwelling place their prayer and their pleas, and maintain their cause and forgive your people who have sinned against you.	then from heaven, your dwelling place, hear their prayer and their pleas, and uphold their cause. And forgive your people, who have sinned against you.
40	Now, my God, please, let Your eyes be open and Your ears attentive to the prayer in this place.	Now, O my God, let your eyes be open and your ears attentive to the prayer of this place.	“Now, my God, may your eyes be open and your ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.
41	And now arise, O YHWH God, to Your resting place, You and the ark of Your strength. Let Your priests, O YHWH God, be clothed with salvation, and let Your holy ones rejoice in the goodness.	“And now arise, O LORD God, and go to your resting place, you and the ark of your might. Let your priests, O LORD God, be clothed with salvation, and let your saints rejoice in your goodness.	“Now arise, LORD God, and come to your resting place, you and the ark of your might. May your priests, LORD God, be clothed with salvation, may your faithful people rejoice in your goodness.
42	O YHWH God, do not turn away the face of Your anointed. Remember the loving devotion to David Your servant.”	O LORD God, do not turn away the face of your anointed one! Remember your steadfast love for David your servant.”	LORD God, do not reject your anointed one. Remember the great love promised to David your servant.”
