Psalm 90
NLT Parallel KJV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New Living TranslationKing James Bible
Lord, through all the generations you have been our home!1A Prayer of Moses the man of God. Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.
Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from beginning to end, you are God.2Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.
You turn people back to dust, saying, “Return to dust, you mortals!”3Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men.
For you, a thousand years are as a passing day, as brief as a few night hours.4For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.
You sweep people away like dreams that disappear. They are like grass that springs up in the morning.5Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth up.
In the morning it blooms and flourishes, but by evening it is dry and withered.6In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.
We wither beneath your anger; we are overwhelmed by your fury.7For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.
You spread out our sins before you— our secret sins—and you see them all.8Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.
We live our lives beneath your wrath, ending our years with a groan.9For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told.
Seventy years are given to us! Some even live to eighty. But even the best years are filled with pain and trouble; soon they disappear, and we fly away.10The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
Who can comprehend the power of your anger? Your wrath is as awesome as the fear you deserve.11Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.
Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.12So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
O LORD, come back to us! How long will you delay? Take pity on your servants!13Return, O LORD, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.
Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love, so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives.14O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
Give us gladness in proportion to our former misery! Replace the evil years with good.15Make us glad according to the days wherein thou hast afflicted us, and the years wherein we have seen evil.
Let us, your servants, see you work again; let our children see your glory.16Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their children.
And may the Lord our God show us his approval and make our efforts successful. Yes, make our efforts successful!17And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.
