New Living TranslationKing James Bible
The LORD said to Moses,1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
“Tell the people of Israel to bring me their sacred offerings. Accept the contributions from all whose hearts are moved to offer them.2Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring me an offering: of every man that giveth it willingly with his heart ye shall take my offering.
Here is a list of sacred offerings you may accept from them: gold, silver, and bronze;3And this is the offering which ye shall take of them; gold, and silver, and brass,
blue, purple, and scarlet thread; fine linen and goat hair for cloth;4And blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats' hair,
tanned ram skins and fine goatskin leather; acacia wood;5And rams' skins dyed red, and badgers' skins, and shittim wood,
olive oil for the lamps; spices for the anointing oil and the fragrant incense;6Oil for the light, spices for anointing oil, and for sweet incense,
onyx stones, and other gemstones to be set in the ephod and the priest’s chestpiece.7Onyx stones, and stones to be set in the ephod, and in the breastplate.
“Have the people of Israel build me a holy sanctuary so I can live among them.8And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.
You must build this Tabernacle and its furnishings exactly according to the pattern I will show you. Plans for the Ark of the Covenant9According to all that I shew thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it.
“Have the people make an Ark of acacia wood—a sacred chest 45 inches long, 27 inches wide, and 27 inches high.10And they shall make an ark of shittim wood: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof.
Overlay it inside and outside with pure gold, and run a molding of gold all around it.11And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, within and without shalt thou overlay it, and shalt make upon it a crown of gold round about.
Cast four gold rings and attach them to its four feet, two rings on each side.12And thou shalt cast four rings of gold for it, and put them in the four corners thereof; and two rings shall be in the one side of it, and two rings in the other side of it.
Make poles from acacia wood, and overlay them with gold.13And thou shalt make staves of shittim wood, and overlay them with gold.
Insert the poles into the rings at the sides of the Ark to carry it.14And thou shalt put the staves into the rings by the sides of the ark, that the ark may be borne with them.
These carrying poles must stay inside the rings; never remove them.15The staves shall be in the rings of the ark: they shall not be taken from it.
When the Ark is finished, place inside it the stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant, which I will give to you.16And thou shalt put into the ark the testimony which I shall give thee.
“Then make the Ark’s cover—the place of atonement—from pure gold. It must be 45 inches long and 27 inches wide.17And thou shalt make a mercy seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof.
Then make two cherubim from hammered gold, and place them on the two ends of the atonement cover.18And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat.
Mold the cherubim on each end of the atonement cover, making it all of one piece of gold.19And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end: even of the mercy seat shall ye make the cherubims on the two ends thereof.
The cherubim will face each other and look down on the atonement cover. With their wings spread above it, they will protect it.20And the cherubims shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces shall look one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubims be.
Place inside the Ark the stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant, which I will give to you. Then put the atonement cover on top of the Ark.21And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee.
I will meet with you there and talk to you from above the atonement cover between the gold cherubim that hover over the Ark of the Covenant. From there I will give you my commands for the people of Israel. Plans for the Table22And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.
“Then make a table of acacia wood, 36 inches long, 18 inches wide, and 27 inches high.23Thou shalt also make a table of shittim wood: two cubits shall be the length thereof, and a cubit the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof.
Overlay it with pure gold and run a gold molding around the edge.24And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, and make thereto a crown of gold round about.
Decorate it with a 3-inch border all around, and run a gold molding along the border.25And thou shalt make unto it a border of an hand breadth round about, and thou shalt make a golden crown to the border thereof round about.
Make four gold rings for the table and attach them at the four corners next to the four legs.26And thou shalt make for it four rings of gold, and put the rings in the four corners that are on the four feet thereof.
Attach the rings near the border to hold the poles that are used to carry the table.27Over against the border shall the rings be for places of the staves to bear the table.
Make these poles from acacia wood, and overlay them with gold.28And thou shalt make the staves of shittim wood, and overlay them with gold, that the table may be borne with them.
Make special containers of pure gold for the table—bowls, ladles, pitchers, and jars—to be used in pouring out liquid offerings.29And thou shalt make the dishes thereof, and spoons thereof, and covers thereof, and bowls thereof, to cover withal: of pure gold shalt thou make them.
Place the Bread of the Presence on the table to remain before me at all times. Plans for the Lampstand30And thou shalt set upon the table shewbread before me alway.
“Make a lampstand of pure, hammered gold. Make the entire lampstand and its decorations of one piece—the base, center stem, lamp cups, buds, and petals.31And thou shalt make a candlestick of pure gold: of beaten work shall the candlestick be made: his shaft, and his branches, his bowls, his knops, and his flowers, shall be of the same.
Make it with six branches going out from the center stem, three on each side.32And six branches shall come out of the sides of it; three branches of the candlestick out of the one side, and three branches of the candlestick out of the other side:
Each of the six branches will have three lamp cups shaped like almond blossoms, complete with buds and petals.33Three bowls made like unto almonds, with a knop and a flower in one branch; and three bowls made like almonds in the other branch, with a knop and a flower: so in the six branches that come out of the candlestick.
Craft the center stem of the lampstand with four lamp cups shaped like almond blossoms, complete with buds and petals.34And in the candlestick shall be four bowls made like unto almonds, with their knops and their flowers.
There will also be an almond bud beneath each pair of branches where the six branches extend from the center stem.35And there shall be a knop under two branches of the same, and a knop under two branches of the same, and a knop under two branches of the same, according to the six branches that proceed out of the candlestick.
The almond buds and branches must all be of one piece with the center stem, and they must be hammered from pure gold.36Their knops and their branches shall be of the same: all it shall be one beaten work of pure gold.
Then make the seven lamps for the lampstand, and set them so they reflect their light forward.37And thou shalt make the seven lamps thereof: and they shall light the lamps thereof, that they may give light over against it.
The lamp snuffers and trays must also be made of pure gold.38And the tongs thereof, and the snuffdishes thereof, shall be of pure gold.
You will need 75 pounds of pure gold for the lampstand and its accessories.39Of a talent of pure gold shall he make it, with all these vessels.
“Be sure that you make everything according to the pattern I have shown you here on the mountain.40And look that thou make them after their pattern, which was shewed thee in the mount.
