Psalm 6
New Living TranslationBerean Study Bible
O LORD, don’t rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your rage.1For the choirmaster. With stringed instruments, according to Sheminith. A Psalm of David. O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger or discipline me in Your wrath.
Have compassion on me, LORD, for I am weak. Heal me, LORD, for my bones are in agony.2Be merciful to me, O LORD, for I am frail; heal me, O LORD, for my bones are in agony.
I am sick at heart. How long, O LORD, until you restore me?3My soul is deeply distressed. How long, O LORD, how long?
Return, O LORD, and rescue me. Save me because of your unfailing love.4Turn, O LORD, and deliver my soul; save me because of Your loving devotion.
For the dead do not remember you. Who can praise you from the grave?5For there is no mention of You in death; who can praise You from Sheol?
I am worn out from sobbing. All night I flood my bed with weeping, drenching it with my tears.6I am weary from groaning; all night I flood my bed with weeping and drench my couch with tears.
My vision is blurred by grief; my eyes are worn out because of all my enemies.7My eyes fail from grief; they grow dim because of all my foes.
Go away, all you who do evil, for the LORD has heard my weeping.8Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity, for the LORD has heard my weeping.
The LORD has heard my plea; the LORD will answer my prayer.9The LORD has heard my cry for mercy; the LORD accepts my prayer.
May all my enemies be disgraced and terrified. May they suddenly turn back in shame.10All my enemies will be ashamed and dismayed; they will turn back in sudden disgrace.
