New Living Translation | NET Bible |
O LORD, don’t rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your rage. | 1For the music director, to be accompanied by stringed instruments, according to the sheminith style; a psalm of David. LORD, do not rebuke me in your anger! Do not discipline me in your raging fury! |
Have compassion on me, LORD, for I am weak. Heal me, LORD, for my bones are in agony. | 2Have mercy on me, LORD, for I am frail! Heal me, LORD, for my bones are shaking! |
I am sick at heart. How long, O LORD, until you restore me? | 3I am absolutely terrified, and you, LORD--how long will this continue? |
Return, O LORD, and rescue me. Save me because of your unfailing love. | 4Relent, LORD, rescue me! Deliver me because of your faithfulness! |
For the dead do not remember you. Who can praise you from the grave? | 5For no one remembers you in the realm of death, In Sheol who gives you thanks? |
I am worn out from sobbing. All night I flood my bed with weeping, drenching it with my tears. | 6I am exhausted as I groan; all night long I drench my bed in tears; my tears saturate the cushion beneath me. |
My vision is blurred by grief; my eyes are worn out because of all my enemies. | 7My eyes grow dim from suffering; they grow weak because of all my enemies. |
Go away, all you who do evil, for the LORD has heard my weeping. | 8Turn back from me, all you who behave wickedly, for the LORD has heard the sound of my weeping! |
The LORD has heard my plea; the LORD will answer my prayer. | 9The LORD has heard my appeal for mercy; the LORD has accepted my prayer. |
May all my enemies be disgraced and terrified. May they suddenly turn back in shame. | 10May all my enemies be humiliated and absolutely terrified! May they turn back and be suddenly humiliated! |
