New King James Version | King James Bible |
Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. | 1Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. |
Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. | 2Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. |
And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law. | 3For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. |
You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. | 4Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. |
For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. | 5For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. |
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love. | 6For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. |
You ran well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth? | 7Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth? |
This persuasion does not come from Him who calls you. | 8This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you. |
A little leaven leavens the whole lump. | 9A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump. |
I have confidence in you, in the Lord, that you will have no other mind; but he who troubles you shall bear his judgment, whoever he is. | 10I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be. |
And I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why do I still suffer persecution? Then the offense of the cross has ceased. | 11And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased. |
I could wish that those who trouble you would even cut themselves off! | 12I would they were even cut off which trouble you. |
For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. | 13For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. |
For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” | 14For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. |
But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another! | 15But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. |
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. | 16This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. |
For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. | 17For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. |
But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. | 18But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. |
Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, | 19Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, |
idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, | 20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, |
envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. | 21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. |
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, | 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, |
gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. | 23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. |
And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. | 24And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. |
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. | 25If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. |
Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another. | 26Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another. |
