| 1Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. | 1It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. |

| 4You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. | 4You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. |

| 7You ran well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth? | 7You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth? |

| 10I have confidence in you, in the Lord, that you will have no other mind; but he who troubles you shall bear his judgment, whoever he is. | 10I am confident in the Lord that you will take no other view. The one who is throwing you into confusion, whoever that may be, will have to pay the penalty. |
| 11And I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why do I still suffer persecution? Then the offense of the cross has ceased. | 11Brothers and sisters, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished. |
| 12I could wish that those who trouble you would even cut themselves off! | 12As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves! |
| 13For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. | 13You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. |
| 14For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” | 14For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: "Love your neighbor as yourself." |
