Psalm 90
NIV Parallel NET [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New International VersionNET Bible
A prayer of Moses the man of God. Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations.1A prayer of Moses, the man of God. O Lord, you have been our protector through all generations!
Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.2Even before the mountains came into existence, or you brought the world into being, you were the eternal God.
You turn people back to dust, saying, "Return to dust, you mortals."3You make mankind return to the dust, and say, "Return, O people!"
A thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night.4Yes, in your eyes a thousand years are like yesterday that quickly passes, or like one of the divisions of the nighttime.
Yet you sweep people away in the sleep of death-- they are like the new grass of the morning:5You bring their lives to an end and they "fall asleep." In the morning they are like the grass that sprouts up;
In the morning it springs up new, but by evening it is dry and withered.6in the morning it glistens and sprouts up; at evening time it withers and dries up.
We are consumed by your anger and terrified by your indignation.7Yes, we are consumed by your anger; we are terrified by your wrath.
You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence.8You are aware of our sins; you even know about our hidden sins.
All our days pass away under your wrath; we finish our years with a moan.9Yes, throughout all our days we experience your raging fury; the years of our lives pass quickly, like a sigh.
Our days may come to seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures; yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away.10The days of our lives add up to seventy years, or eighty, if one is especially strong. But even one's best years are marred by trouble and oppression. Yes, they pass quickly and we fly away.
If only we knew the power of your anger! Your wrath is as great as the fear that is your due.11Who can really fathom the intensity of your anger? Your raging fury causes people to fear you.
Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.12So teach us to consider our mortality, so that we might live wisely.
Relent, LORD! How long will it be? Have compassion on your servants.13Turn back toward us, O LORD! How long must this suffering last? Have pity on your servants!
Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.14Satisfy us in the morning with your loyal love! Then we will shout for joy and be happy all our days!
Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, for as many years as we have seen trouble.15Make us happy in proportion to the days you have afflicted us, in proportion to the years we have experienced trouble!
May your deeds be shown to your servants, your splendor to their children.16May your servants see your work! May their sons see your majesty!
May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us-- yes, establish the work of our hands.17May our sovereign God extend his favor to us! Make our endeavors successful! Yes, make them successful!
