New International Version | New American Standard Bible 1995 |
Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him. | 1Sing for joy in the LORD, O you righteous ones; Praise is becoming to the upright. |
Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre. | 2Give thanks to the LORD with the lyre; Sing praises to Him with a harp of ten strings. |
Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy. | 3Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a shout of joy. |
For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. | 4For the word of the LORD is upright, And all His work is done in faithfulness. |
The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love. | 5He loves righteousness and justice; The earth is full of the lovingkindness of the LORD. |
By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth. | 6By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, And by the breath of His mouth all their host. |
He gathers the waters of the sea into jars; he puts the deep into storehouses. | 7He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap; He lays up the deeps in storehouses. |
Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the people of the world revere him. | 8Let all the earth fear the LORD; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. |
For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. | 9For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast. |
The LORD foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples. | 10The LORD nullifies the counsel of the nations; He frustrates the plans of the peoples. |
But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations. | 11The counsel of the LORD stands forever, The plans of His heart from generation to generation. |
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance. | 12Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, The people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance. |
From heaven the LORD looks down and sees all mankind; | 13The LORD looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men; |
from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth-- | 14From His dwelling place He looks out On all the inhabitants of the earth, |
he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do. | 15He who fashions the hearts of them all, He who understands all their works. |
No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength. | 16The king is not saved by a mighty army; A warrior is not delivered by great strength. |
A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength it cannot save. | 17A horse is a false hope for victory; Nor does it deliver anyone by its great strength. |
But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, | 18Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him, On those who hope for His lovingkindness, |
to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine. | 19To deliver their soul from death And to keep them alive in famine. |
We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield. | 20Our soul waits for the LORD; He is our help and our shield. |
In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. | 21For our heart rejoices in Him, Because we trust in His holy name. |
May your unfailing love be with us, LORD, even as we put our hope in you. | 22Let Your lovingkindness, O LORD, be upon us, According as we have hoped in You. |
