Psalm 37
NIV Parallel BSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New International VersionBerean Study Bible
Of David. Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong;1Of David. Do not fret over those who do evil; do not envy those who do wrong.
for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.2For they wither quickly like grass and wilt like tender plants.
Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.3Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.
Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.4Delight yourself in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this:5Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him, and He will do it.
He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.6He will bring forth your righteousness like the dawn, your justice like the noonday sun.
Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.7Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for Him; do not fret when men prosper in their ways, when they carry out wicked schemes.
Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret--it leads only to evil.8Refrain from anger and abandon wrath; do not fret—it can only bring harm.
For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.9For the evildoers will be cut off, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.
A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found.10Yet a little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found.
But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity.11But the meek will inherit the land and delight in abundant prosperity.
The wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them;12The wicked scheme against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them,
but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows their day is coming.13but the Lord laughs, seeing that their day is coming.
The wicked draw the sword and bend the bow to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those whose ways are upright.14The wicked have drawn the sword and bent the bow to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those whose ways are upright.
But their swords will pierce their own hearts, and their bows will be broken.15But their swords will pierce their own hearts, and their bows will be broken.
Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked;16Better is the little of the righteous than the abundance of many who are wicked.
for the power of the wicked will be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous.17For the arms of the wicked will be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous.
The blameless spend their days under the LORD's care, and their inheritance will endure forever.18The LORD knows the days of the blameless, and their inheritance will last forever.
In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty.19In the time of evil they will not be ashamed, and in the days of famine they will be satisfied.
But the wicked will perish: Though the LORD's enemies are like the flowers of the field, they will be consumed, they will go up in smoke.20But the wicked and enemies of the LORD will perish like the glory of the fields. They will vanish; like smoke they will fade away.
The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously;21The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous are gracious and giving.
those the LORD blesses will inherit the land, but those he curses will be destroyed.22Surely those He blesses will inherit the land, but the cursed will be destroyed.
The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him;23The steps of a man are ordered by the LORD who takes delight in his journey.
though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.24Though he falls, he will not be overwhelmed, for the LORD is holding his hand.
I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.25I once was young and now am old, yet never have I seen the righteous abandoned or their children begging for bread.
They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be a blessing.26They are ever generous and quick to lend, and their children are a blessing.
Turn from evil and do good; then you will dwell in the land forever.27Turn away from evil and do good, so that you will abide forever.
For the LORD loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed; the offspring of the wicked will perish.28For the LORD loves justice and will not forsake His saints. They are preserved forever, but the offspring of the wicked will be cut off.
The righteous will inherit the land and dwell in it forever.29The righteous will inherit the land and dwell in it forever.
The mouths of the righteous utter wisdom, and their tongues speak what is just.30The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks justice.
The law of their God is in their hearts; their feet do not slip.31The law of his God is in his heart; his steps do not falter.
The wicked lie in wait for the righteous, intent on putting them to death;32Though the wicked lie in wait for the righteous, and seek to slay them,
but the LORD will not leave them in the power of the wicked or let them be condemned when brought to trial.33the LORD will not leave them in their power or let them be condemned under judgment.
Hope in the LORD and keep his way. He will exalt you to inherit the land; when the wicked are destroyed, you will see it.34Wait for the LORD and keep His way, and He will raise you up to inherit the land. When the wicked are cut off, you will see it.
I have seen a wicked and ruthless man flourishing like a luxuriant native tree,35I have seen a wicked, ruthless man flourishing like a well-rooted native tree,
but he soon passed away and was no more; though I looked for him, he could not be found.36yet he passed away and was no more; though I searched, he could not be found.
Consider the blameless, observe the upright; a future awaits those who seek peace.37Consider the blameless and observe the upright, for posterity awaits the man of peace.
But all sinners will be destroyed; there will be no future for the wicked.38But the transgressors will all be destroyed; the future of the wicked will be cut off.
The salvation of the righteous comes from the LORD; he is their stronghold in time of trouble.39The salvation of the righteous is from the LORD; He is their stronghold in time of trouble.
The LORD helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him.40The LORD helps and delivers them; He rescues and saves them from the wicked, because they take refuge in Him.
