NET Bible | International Standard Version |
As for you, the one who lives in the shelter of the sovereign One, and resides in the protective shadow of the mighty king-- | 1The one who lives in the shelter of the Most High, who rests in the shadow of the Almighty, |
I say this about the LORD, my shelter and my stronghold, my God in whom I trust-- | 2will say to the LORD, "You are my refuge, my fortress, and my God in whom I trust!" |
he will certainly rescue you from the snare of the hunter and from the destructive plague. | 3He will surely deliver you from the hunter's snare and from the destructive plague. |
He will shelter you with his wings; you will find safety under his wings. His faithfulness is like a shield or a protective wall. | 4With his feathers he will cover you, under his wings you will find safety. His truth is your shield and armor. |
You need not fear the terrors of the night, the arrow that flies by day, | 5You need not fear terror that stalks in the night, the arrow that flies in the day, |
the plague that comes in the darkness, or the disease that comes at noon. | 6plague that strikes in the darkness, or calamity that destroys at noon. |
Though a thousand may fall beside you, and a multitude on your right side, it will not reach you. | 7If a thousand fall at your side or ten thousand at your right hand, it will not overcome you. |
Certainly you will see it with your very own eyes--you will see the wicked paid back. | 8Only observe it with your eyes, and you will see how the wicked are paid back. |
For you have taken refuge in the LORD, my shelter, the sovereign One. | 9"LORD, you are my refuge!" Because you chose the Most High as your dwelling place, |
No harm will overtake you; no illness will come near your home. | 10no evil will fall upon you, and no affliction will approach your tent, |
For he will order his angels to protect you in all you do. | 11for he will command his angels to protect you in all your ways. |
They will lift you up in their hands, so you will not slip and fall on a stone. | 12With their hands they will lift you up so you will not trip over a stone. |
You will subdue a lion and a snake; you will trample underfoot a young lion and a serpent. | 13You will stomp on lions and snakes; you will trample young lions and serpents. |
The LORD says, "Because he is devoted to me, I will deliver him; I will protect him because he is loyal to me. | 14Because he has focused his love on me, I will deliver him. I will protect him because he knows my name. |
When he calls out to me, I will answer him. I will be with him when he is in trouble; I will rescue him and bring him honor. | 15When he calls out to me, I will answer him. I will be with him in his distress. I will deliver him, and I will honor him. |
I will satisfy him with long life, and will let him see my salvation. | 16I will satisfy him with long life; I will show him my deliverance. |
