NET BibleEnglish Standard Version
The LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron:1The LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying,
"Speak to the Israelites and tell them, 'When any man has a discharge from his body, his discharge is unclean.2“Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, When any man has a discharge from his body, his discharge is unclean.
Now this is his uncleanness in regard to his discharge--whether his body secretes his discharge or blocks his discharge, he is unclean. All the days that his body has a discharge or his body blocks his discharge, this is his uncleanness. 3And this is the law of his uncleanness for a discharge: whether his body runs with his discharge, or his body is blocked up by his discharge, it is his uncleanness.
"'Any bed the man with a discharge lies on will be unclean, and any furniture he sits on will be unclean.4Every bed on which the one with the discharge lies shall be unclean, and everything on which he sits shall be unclean.
Anyone who touches his bed must wash his clothes, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening.5And anyone who touches his bed shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water and be unclean until the evening.
The one who sits on the furniture the man with a discharge sits on must wash his clothes, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening.6And whoever sits on anything on which the one with the discharge has sat shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water and be unclean until the evening.
The one who touches the body of the man with a discharge must wash his clothes, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening.7And whoever touches the body of the one with the discharge shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water and be unclean until the evening.
If the man with a discharge spits on a person who is ceremonially clean, that person must wash his clothes, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening.8And if the one with the discharge spits on someone who is clean, then he shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water and be unclean until the evening.
Any means of riding the man with a discharge rides on will be unclean.9And any saddle on which the one with the discharge rides shall be unclean.
Anyone who touches anything that was under him will be unclean until evening, and the one who carries those items must wash his clothes, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening.10And whoever touches anything that was under him shall be unclean until the evening. And whoever carries such things shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water and be unclean until the evening.
Anyone whom the man with the discharge touches without having rinsed his hands in water must wash his clothes, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening.11Anyone whom the one with the discharge touches without having rinsed his hands in water shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water and be unclean until the evening.
A clay vessel which the man with the discharge touches must be broken, and any wooden utensil must be rinsed in water. 12And an earthenware vessel that the one with the discharge touches shall be broken, and every vessel of wood shall be rinsed in water.
"'When the man with the discharge becomes clean from his discharge he is to count off for himself seven days for his purification, and he must wash his clothes, bathe in fresh water, and be clean.13“And when the one with a discharge is cleansed of his discharge, then he shall count for himself seven days for his cleansing, and wash his clothes. And he shall bathe his body in fresh water and shall be clean.
Then on the eighth day he is to take for himself two turtledoves or two young pigeons, and he is to present himself before the LORD at the entrance of the Meeting Tent and give them to the priest,14And on the eighth day he shall take two turtledoves or two pigeons and come before the LORD to the entrance of the tent of meeting and give them to the priest.
and the priest is to make one of them a sin offering and the other a burnt offering. So the priest is to make atonement for him before the LORD for his discharge. 15And the priest shall use them, one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering. And the priest shall make atonement for him before the LORD for his discharge.
"'When a man has a seminal emission, he must bathe his whole body in water and be unclean until evening,16“If a man has an emission of semen, he shall bathe his whole body in water and be unclean until the evening.
and he must wash in water any clothing or leather that has semen on it, and it will be unclean until evening.17And every garment and every skin on which the semen comes shall be washed with water and be unclean until the evening.
When a man has sexual intercourse with a woman and there is a seminal emission, they must bathe in water and be unclean until evening. 18If a man lies with a woman and has an emission of semen, both of them shall bathe themselves in water and be unclean until the evening.
"'When a woman has a discharge and her discharge is blood from her body, she is to be in her menstruation seven days, and anyone who touches her will be unclean until evening.19“When a woman has a discharge, and the discharge in her body is blood, she shall be in her menstrual impurity for seven days, and whoever touches her shall be unclean until the evening.
Anything she lies on during her menstruation will be unclean, and anything she sits on will be unclean.20And everything on which she lies during her menstrual impurity shall be unclean. Everything also on which she sits shall be unclean.
Anyone who touches her bed must wash his clothes, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening.21And whoever touches her bed shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water and be unclean until the evening.
Anyone who touches any furniture she sits on must wash his clothes, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening.22And whoever touches anything on which she sits shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water and be unclean until the evening.
If there is something on the bed or on the furniture she sits on, when he touches it he will be unclean until evening,23Whether it is the bed or anything on which she sits, when he touches it he shall be unclean until the evening.
and if a man actually has sexual intercourse with her so that her menstrual impurity touches him, then he will be unclean seven days and any bed he lies on will be unclean. 24And if any man lies with her and her menstrual impurity comes upon him, he shall be unclean seven days, and every bed on which he lies shall be unclean.
"'When a woman's discharge of blood flows many days not at the time of her menstruation, or if it flows beyond the time of her menstruation, all the days of her discharge of impurity will be like the days of her menstruation--she is unclean.25“If a woman has a discharge of blood for many days, not at the time of her menstrual impurity, or if she has a discharge beyond the time of her impurity, all the days of the discharge she shall continue in uncleanness. As in the days of her impurity, she shall be unclean.
Any bed she lies on all the days of her discharge will be to her like the bed of her menstruation, any furniture she sits on will be unclean like the impurity of her menstruation,26Every bed on which she lies, all the days of her discharge, shall be to her as the bed of her impurity. And everything on which she sits shall be unclean, as in the uncleanness of her menstrual impurity.
and anyone who touches them will be unclean, and he must wash his clothes, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening. 27And whoever touches these things shall be unclean, and shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water and be unclean until the evening.
"'If she becomes clean from her discharge, then she is to count off for herself seven days, and afterward she will be clean.28But if she is cleansed of her discharge, she shall count for herself seven days, and after that she shall be clean.
Then on the eighth day she must take for herself two turtledoves or two young pigeons and she must bring them to the priest at the entrance of the Meeting Tent,29And on the eighth day she shall take two turtledoves or two pigeons and bring them to the priest, to the entrance of the tent of meeting.
and the priest is to make one a sin offering and the other a burnt offering. So the priest is to make atonement for her before the LORD from her discharge of impurity. 30And the priest shall use one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering. And the priest shall make atonement for her before the LORD for her unclean discharge.
"'Thus you are to set the Israelites apart from their impurity so that they do not die in their impurity by defiling my tabernacle which is in their midst.31“Thus you shall keep the people of Israel separate from their uncleanness, lest they die in their uncleanness by defiling my tabernacle that is in their midst.”
This is the law of the one with a discharge: the one who has a seminal emission and becomes unclean by it,32This is the law for him who has a discharge and for him who has an emission of semen, becoming unclean thereby;
the one who is sick in her menstruation, the one with a discharge, whether male or female, and a man who has sexual intercourse with an unclean woman.'" 33also for her who is unwell with her menstrual impurity, that is, for anyone, male or female, who has a discharge, and for the man who lies with a woman who is unclean.
