2God spoke to Israel in visions of the night and said, "Jacob, Jacob." And he said, "Here I am."2During the night God spoke to him in a vision. “Jacob! Jacob!” he called. “Here I am,” Jacob replied.
3He said, "I am God, the God of your father; do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you a great nation there.3“I am God, the God of your father,” the voice said. “Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for there I will make your family into a great nation.
4"I will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also surely bring you up again; and Joseph will close your eyes."4I will go with you down to Egypt, and I will bring you back again. You will die in Egypt, but Joseph will be with you to close your eyes.”
5Then Jacob arose from Beersheba; and the sons of Israel carried their father Jacob and their little ones and their wives in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him.5So Jacob left Beersheba, and his sons took him to Egypt. 28Now he sent Judah before him to Joseph, to point out the way before him to Goshen; and they came into the land of Goshen.28As they neared their destination, Jacob sent Judah ahead to meet Joseph and get directions to the region of Goshen. And when they finally arrived there,
