A Psalm of Solomon. Give the king Your judgments, O God, And Your righteousness to the king's son.1For Solomon. O God, grant the king the ability to make just decisions! Grant the king's son the ability to make fair decisions!
May he judge Your people with righteousness And Your afflicted with justice.2Then he will judge your people fairly, and your oppressed ones equitably.
Let the mountains bring peace to the people, And the hills, in righteousness.3The mountains will bring news of peace to the people, and the hills will announce justice.
May he vindicate the afflicted of the people, Save the children of the needy And crush the oppressor.4He will defend the oppressed among the people; he will deliver the children of the poor and crush the oppressor.
Let them fear You while the sun endures, And as long as the moon, throughout all generations.5People will fear you as long as the sun and moon remain in the sky, for generation after generation.
May he come down like rain upon the mown grass, Like showers that water the earth.6He will descend like rain on the mown grass, like showers that drench the earth.
In his days may the righteous flourish, And abundance of peace till the moon is no more.7During his days the godly will flourish; peace will prevail as long as the moon remains in the sky.
May he also rule from sea to sea And from the River to the ends of the earth.8May he rule from sea to sea, and from the Euphrates River to the ends of the earth!
Let the nomads of the desert bow before him, And his enemies lick the dust.9Before him the coastlands will bow down, and his enemies will lick the dust.
Let the kings of Tarshish and of the islands bring presents; The kings of Sheba and Seba offer gifts.10The kings of Tarshish and the coastlands will offer gifts; the kings of Sheba and Seba will bring tribute.
And let all kings bow down before him, All nations serve him.11All kings will bow down to him; all nations will serve him.
For he will deliver the needy when he cries for help, The afflicted also, and him who has no helper.12For he will rescue the needy when they cry out for help, and the oppressed who have no defender.
He will have compassion on the poor and needy, And the lives of the needy he will save.13He will take pity on the poor and needy; the lives of the needy he will save.
He will rescue their life from oppression and violence, And their blood will be precious in his sight;14From harm and violence he will defend them; he will value their lives.
So may he live, and may the gold of Sheba be given to him; And let them pray for him continually; Let them bless him all day long.15May he live! May they offer him gold from Sheba! May they continually pray for him! May they pronounce blessings on him all day long!
May there be abundance of grain in the earth on top of the mountains; Its fruit will wave like the cedars of Lebanon; And may those from the city flourish like vegetation of the earth.16May there be an abundance of grain in the earth; on the tops of the mountains may it sway! May its fruit trees flourish like the forests of Lebanon! May its crops be as abundant as the grass of the earth!
May his name endure forever; May his name increase as long as the sun shines; And let men bless themselves by him; Let all nations call him blessed.17May his fame endure! May his dynasty last as long as the sun remains in the sky! May they use his name when they formulate their blessings! May all nations consider him to be favored by God!
Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, Who alone works wonders.18The LORD God, the God of Israel, deserves praise! He alone accomplishes amazing things!
And blessed be His glorious name forever; And may the whole earth be filled with His glory. Amen, and Amen.19His glorious name deserves praise forevermore! May his majestic splendor fill the whole earth! We agree! We agree!
