For the choir director. A Song. A Psalm. Shout joyfully to God, all the earth; | 1For the music director; a song, a psalm. Shout out praise to God, all the earth! |
Sing the glory of His name; Make His praise glorious. | 2Sing praises about the majesty of his reputation! Give him the honor he deserves! |
Say to God, "How awesome are Your works! Because of the greatness of Your power Your enemies will give feigned obedience to You. | 3Say to God: "How awesome are your deeds! Because of your great power your enemies cower in fear before you. |
"All the earth will worship You, And will sing praises to You; They will sing praises to Your name." Selah. | 4All the earth worships you and sings praises to you! They sing praises to your name!" (Selah) |
Come and see the works of God, Who is awesome in His deeds toward the sons of men. | 5Come and witness God's exploits! His acts on behalf of people are awesome! |
He turned the sea into dry land; They passed through the river on foot; There let us rejoice in Him! | 6He turned the sea into dry land; they passed through the river on foot. Let us rejoice in him there! |
He rules by His might forever; His eyes keep watch on the nations; Let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah. | 7He rules by his power forever; he watches the nations. Stubborn rebels should not exalt themselves. (Selah) |
Bless our God, O peoples, And sound His praise abroad, | 8Praise our God, you nations! Loudly proclaim his praise! |
Who keeps us in life And does not allow our feet to slip. | 9He preserves our lives and does not allow our feet to slip. |
For You have tried us, O God; You have refined us as silver is refined. | 10For you, O God, tested us; you purified us like refined silver. |
You brought us into the net; You laid an oppressive burden upon our loins. | 11You led us into a trap; you caused us to suffer. |
You made men ride over our heads; We went through fire and through water, Yet You brought us out into a place of abundance. | 12You allowed men to ride over our heads; we passed through fire and water, but you brought us out into a wide open place. |
I shall come into Your house with burnt offerings; I shall pay You my vows, | 13I will enter your temple with burnt sacrifices; I will fulfill the vows I made to you, |
Which my lips uttered And my mouth spoke when I was in distress. | 14which my lips uttered and my mouth spoke when I was in trouble. |
I shall offer to You burnt offerings of fat beasts, With the smoke of rams; I shall make an offering of bulls with male goats. Selah. | 15I will offer up to you fattened animals as burnt sacrifices, along with the smell of sacrificial rams. I will offer cattle and goats. (Selah) |
Come and hear, all who fear God, And I will tell of what He has done for my soul. | 16Come! Listen, all you who are loyal to God! I will declare what he has done for me. |
I cried to Him with my mouth, And He was extolled with my tongue. | 17I cried out to him for help and praised him with my tongue. |
If I regard wickedness in my heart, The Lord will not hear; | 18If I had harbored sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. |
But certainly God has heard; He has given heed to the voice of my prayer. | 19However, God heard; he listened to my prayer. |
Blessed be God, Who has not turned away my prayer Nor His lovingkindness from me. | 20God deserves praise, for he did not reject my prayer or abandon his love for me! |
