Corinthians 6
NASB Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
New American Standard Bible 1995English Standard Version
Does any one of you, when he has a case against his neighbor, dare to go to law before the unrighteous and not before the saints?1When one of you has a grievance against another, does he dare go to law before the unrighteous instead of the saints?
Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? If the world is judged by you, are you not competent to constitute the smallest law courts?2Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you incompetent to try trivial cases?
Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more matters of this life?3Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more, then, matters pertaining to this life!
So if you have law courts dealing with matters of this life, do you appoint them as judges who are of no account in the church?4So if you have such cases, why do you lay them before those who have no standing in the church?
I say this to your shame. Is it so, that there is not among you one wise man who will be able to decide between his brethren,5I say this to your shame. Can it be that there is no one among you wise enough to settle a dispute between the brothers,
but brother goes to law with brother, and that before unbelievers?6but brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers?
Actually, then, it is already a defeat for you, that you have lawsuits with one another. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be defrauded?7To have lawsuits at all with one another is already a defeat for you. Why not rather suffer wrong? Why not rather be defrauded?
On the contrary, you yourselves wrong and defraud. You do this even to your brethren.8But you yourselves wrong and defraud—even your own brothers!
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,9Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,
nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.10nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.11And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything.12“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything.
Food is for the stomach and the stomach is for food, but God will do away with both of them. Yet the body is not for immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body.13“Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food”—and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
Now God has not only raised the Lord, but will also raise us up through His power.14And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power.
Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take away the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? May it never be!15Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never!
Or do you not know that the one who joins himself to a prostitute is one body with her? For He says, "THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH."16Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, “The two will become one flesh.”
But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him.17But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him.
Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body.18Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?19Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,
For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.20for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
