And after He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He then became hungry.2After fasting forty days and forty nights, He was hungry.
And the tempter came and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread."3The tempter came to Him and said, “If You are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
But He answered and said, "It is written, 'MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.'"4But Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ”
Then the devil took Him into the holy city and had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple,5Then the devil took Him to the holy city and set Him on the pinnacle of the temple.
and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it is written, 'HE WILL COMMAND HIS ANGELS CONCERNING YOU'; and 'ON their HANDS THEY WILL BEAR YOU UP, SO THAT YOU WILL NOT STRIKE YOUR FOOT AGAINST A STONE.'"6“If You are the Son of God,” he said, “throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He will command His angels concerning You, and they will lift You up in their hands, so that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.’ ”
Jesus said to him, "On the other hand, it is written, 'YOU SHALL NOT PUT THE LORD YOUR GOD TO THE TEST.'"7Jesus replied, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’ ”
Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory;8Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.
and he said to Him, "All these things I will give You, if You fall down and worship me."9“All this I will give You,” he said, “if You will fall down and worship me.”
Then Jesus said to him, "Go, Satan! For it is written, 'YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD, AND SERVE HIM ONLY.'"10“Away from Me, Satan!” Jesus declared. “For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.’ ”
Then the devil left Him; and behold, angels came and began to minister to Him.11Then the devil left Him, and angels came and ministered to Him.

"THE PEOPLE WHO WERE SITTING IN DARKNESS SAW A GREAT LIGHT, AND THOSE WHO WERE SITTING IN THE LAND AND SHADOW OF DEATH, UPON THEM A LIGHT DAWNED."16the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death, a light has dawned.”

Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.20And at once they left their nets and followed Him.
Going on from there He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and He called them.21Going on from there, He saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John.
