A Song or Psalm for the sons of Korah, to the chief Musician upon Mahalath Leannoth, Maschil of Heman the Ezrahite. O LORD God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before thee:1A Song. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. For the choir director; according to Mahalath Leannoth. A Maskil of Heman the Ezrahite. O LORD, the God of my salvation, I have cried out by day and in the night before You.
Let my prayer come before thee: incline thine ear unto my cry;2Let my prayer come before You; Incline Your ear to my cry!
For my soul is full of troubles: and my life draweth nigh unto the grave.3For my soul has had enough troubles, And my life has drawn near to Sheol.
I am counted with them that go down into the pit: I am as a man that hath no strength:4I am reckoned among those who go down to the pit; I have become like a man without strength,
Free among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom thou rememberest no more: and they are cut off from thy hand.5Forsaken among the dead, Like the slain who lie in the grave, Whom You remember no more, And they are cut off from Your hand.
Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the deeps.6You have put me in the lowest pit, In dark places, in the depths.
Thy wrath lieth hard upon me, and thou hast afflicted me with all thy waves. Selah.7Your wrath has rested upon me, And You have afflicted me with all Your waves. Selah.
Thou hast put away mine acquaintance far from me; thou hast made me an abomination unto them: I am shut up, and I cannot come forth.8You have removed my acquaintances far from me; You have made me an object of loathing to them; I am shut up and cannot go out.
Mine eye mourneth by reason of affliction: LORD, I have called daily upon thee, I have stretched out my hands unto thee.9My eye has wasted away because of affliction; I have called upon You every day, O LORD; I have spread out my hands to You.
Wilt thou shew wonders to the dead? shall the dead arise and praise thee? Selah.10Will You perform wonders for the dead? Will the departed spirits rise and praise You? Selah.
Shall thy lovingkindness be declared in the grave? or thy faithfulness in destruction?11Will Your lovingkindness be declared in the grave, Your faithfulness in Abaddon?
Shall thy wonders be known in the dark? and thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?12Will Your wonders be made known in the darkness? And Your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?
But unto thee have I cried, O LORD; and in the morning shall my prayer prevent thee.13But I, O LORD, have cried out to You for help, And in the morning my prayer comes before You.
LORD, why castest thou off my soul? why hidest thou thy face from me?14O LORD, why do You reject my soul? Why do You hide Your face from me?
I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up: while I suffer thy terrors I am distracted.15I was afflicted and about to die from my youth on; I suffer Your terrors; I am overcome.
Thy fierce wrath goeth over me; thy terrors have cut me off.16Your burning anger has passed over me; Your terrors have destroyed me.
They came round about me daily like water; they compassed me about together.17They have surrounded me like water all day long; They have encompassed me altogether.
Lover and friend hast thou put far from me, and mine acquaintance into darkness.18You have removed lover and friend far from me; My acquaintances are in darkness.
