Psalm 48
ISV Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
International Standard VersionNew International Version
Great is the LORD! For he is to be praised greatly, even in the city of our God, his holy mountain.1A song. A psalm of the Sons of Korah. Great is the LORD, and most worthy of praise, in the city of our God, his holy mountain.
Beautifully situated, the joy of all the earth, Mount Zion towards the north, the city of the great King.2Beautiful in its loftiness, the joy of the whole earth, like the heights of Zaphon is Mount Zion, the city of the Great King.
Within her citadels God is known as a place of refuge.3God is in her citadels; he has shown himself to be her fortress.
Behold, when the kings assembled together, when they traveled together,4When the kings joined forces, when they advanced together,
they looked and were awestruck; they became afraid and ran away.5they saw her and were astounded; they fled in terror.
Trembling seized them there, pains like those of a woman in labor,6Trembling seized them there, pain like that of a woman in labor.
as when an east wind destroyed the ships of Tarshish.7You destroyed them like ships of Tarshish shattered by an east wind.
Just as we have heard, so have we seen; in the city of the LORD of the heavenly armies— even in the city of our God— God will establish her forever. Interlude8As we have heard, so we have seen in the city of the LORD Almighty, in the city of our God: God makes her secure forever.
God, we have meditated on your gracious love in the midst of your Temple.9Within your temple, O God, we meditate on your unfailing love.
God, according to your name, so is your praise to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is filled with righteousness.10Like your name, O God, your praise reaches to the ends of the earth; your right hand is filled with righteousness.
Mount Zion will be glad; the towns of Judah will rejoice because of your judgments.11Mount Zion rejoices, the villages of Judah are glad because of your judgments.
March around Zion; encircle her; count her towers.12Walk about Zion, go around her, count her towers,
Take note of her ramparts; investigate her citadels; that you may speak about them to the next generation.13consider well her ramparts, view her citadels, that you may tell of them to the next generation.
For this God is our God forever and ever. He will guide us until death.14For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end.
