| 2Beautifully situated, the joy of all the earth, Mount Zion towards the north, the city of the great King. | 2Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, Is Mount Zion in the far north, The city of the great King. |
| 3Within her citadels God is known as a place of refuge. | 3God, in her palaces, Has made Himself known as a stronghold. |
| 4Behold, when the kings assembled together, when they traveled together, | 4For, lo, the kings assembled themselves, They passed by together. |
| 5they looked and were awestruck; they became afraid and ran away. | 5They saw it, then they were amazed; They were terrified, they fled in alarm. |
| 6Trembling seized them there, pains like those of a woman in labor, | 6Panic seized them there, Anguish, as of a woman in childbirth. |
