Psalm 2
ISV Parallel NASB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
International Standard VersionNew American Standard Bible 1995
Why are the nations in an uproar, and their people involved in a vain plot?1Why are the nations in an uproar And the peoples devising a vain thing?
As the kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers conspire together against the LORD and his anointed one, they say, 2The kings of the earth take their stand And the rulers take counsel together Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying,
"Let us tear off their shackles from us, and cast off their chains."3"Let us tear their fetters apart And cast away their cords from us!"
He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.4He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them.
In his anger he rebukes them, and in his wrath he terrifies them:5Then He will speak to them in His anger And terrify them in His fury, saying,
"I have set my king on Zion, my holy mountain."6"But as for Me, I have installed My King Upon Zion, My holy mountain."
Let me announce the decree of the LORD that he told me: "You are my son, today I have become your father.7"I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to Me, 'You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.
Ask of me, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, the ends of the earth as your possession.8Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, And the very ends of the earth as Your possession.
You will break them with an iron rod, you will shatter them like pottery."9'You shall break them with a rod of iron, You shall shatter them like earthenware.'"
Therefore, kings, act wisely! Earthly rulers, be warned!10Now therefore, O kings, show discernment; Take warning, O judges of the earth.
Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.11Worship the LORD with reverence And rejoice with trembling.
Kiss the son before he becomes angry, and you die where you stand. Indeed, his wrath can flare up quickly. How blessed are those who take refuge in him.12Do homage to the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way, For His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!
