Psalm 37
HCSB Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Holman Christian Standard BibleNew International Version
Davidic. Do not be agitated by evildoers; do not envy those who do wrong. 1Of David. Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong;
For they wither quickly like grass and wilt like tender green plants. 2for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.
Trust in the LORD and do what is good; dwell in the land and live securely. 3Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
Take delight in the LORD, and He will give you your heart's desires. 4Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him, and He will act, 5Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this:
making your righteousness shine like the dawn, your justice like the noonday. 6He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.
Be silent before the LORD and wait expectantly for Him; do not be agitated by one who prospers in his way, by the man who carries out evil plans. 7Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.
Refrain from anger and give up your rage; do not be agitated--it can only bring harm. 8Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret--it leads only to evil.
For evildoers will be destroyed, but those who put their hope in the LORD will inherit the land. 9For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.
A little while, and the wicked person will be no more; though you look for him, he will not be there. 10A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found.
But the humble will inherit the land and will enjoy abundant prosperity. 11But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity.
The wicked person schemes against the righteous and gnashes his teeth at him. 12The wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them;
The Lord laughs at him because He sees that his day is coming. 13but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows their day is coming.
The wicked have drawn the sword and strung the bow to bring down the afflicted and needy and to slaughter those whose way is upright. 14The wicked draw the sword and bend the bow to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those whose ways are upright.
Their swords will enter their own hearts, and their bows will be broken. 15But their swords will pierce their own hearts, and their bows will be broken.
The little that the righteous man has is better than the abundance of many wicked people. 16Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked;
For the arms of the wicked will be broken, but the LORD supports the righteous. 17for the power of the wicked will be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous.
The LORD watches over the blameless all their days, and their inheritance will last forever. 18The blameless spend their days under the LORD's care, and their inheritance will endure forever.
They will not be disgraced in times of adversity; they will be satisfied in days of hunger. 19In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty.
But the wicked will perish; the LORD's enemies, like the glory of the pastures, will fade away-- they will fade away like smoke. 20But the wicked will perish: Though the LORD's enemies are like the flowers of the field, they will be consumed, they will go up in smoke.
The wicked man borrows and does not repay, but the righteous one is gracious and giving. 21The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously;
Those who are blessed by Him will inherit the land, but those cursed by Him will be destroyed. 22those the LORD blesses will inherit the land, but those he curses will be destroyed.
A man's steps are established by the LORD, and He takes pleasure in his way. 23The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him;
Though he falls, he will not be overwhelmed, because the LORD holds his hand. 24though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.
I have been young and now I am old, yet I have not seen the righteous abandoned or his children begging for bread. 25I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.
He is always generous, always lending, and his children are a blessing. 26They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be a blessing.
Turn away from evil and do what is good, and dwell there forever. 27Turn from evil and do good; then you will dwell in the land forever.
For the LORD loves justice and will not abandon His faithful ones. They are kept safe forever, but the children of the wicked will be destroyed. 28For the LORD loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed; the offspring of the wicked will perish.
The righteous will inherit the land and dwell in it permanently. 29The righteous will inherit the land and dwell in it forever.
The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom; his tongue speaks what is just. 30The mouths of the righteous utter wisdom, and their tongues speak what is just.
The instruction of his God is in his heart; his steps do not falter. 31The law of their God is in their hearts; their feet do not slip.
The wicked one lies in wait for the righteous and seeks to kill him; 32The wicked lie in wait for the righteous, intent on putting them to death;
the LORD will not leave him in the power of the wicked one or allow him to be condemned when he is judged. 33but the LORD will not leave them in the power of the wicked or let them be condemned when brought to trial.
Wait for the LORD and keep His way, and He will exalt you to inherit the land. You will watch when the wicked are destroyed. 34Hope in the LORD and keep his way. He will exalt you to inherit the land; when the wicked are destroyed, you will see it.
I have seen a wicked, violent man well-rooted like a flourishing native tree. 35I have seen a wicked and ruthless man flourishing like a luxuriant native tree,
Then I passed by and noticed he was gone; I searched for him, but he could not be found. 36but he soon passed away and was no more; though I looked for him, he could not be found.
Watch the blameless and observe the upright, for the man of peace will have a future. 37Consider the blameless, observe the upright; a future awaits those who seek peace.
But transgressors will all be eliminated; the future of the wicked will be destroyed. 38But all sinners will be destroyed; there will be no future for the wicked.
The salvation of the righteous is from the LORD, their refuge in a time of distress. 39The salvation of the righteous comes from the LORD; he is their stronghold in time of trouble.
The LORD helps and delivers them; He will deliver them from the wicked and will save them because they take refuge in Him. 40The LORD helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him.
