The Descendants of Adam 1This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day God created man, in the likeness of God He made him. 2Male and female He created them,† and He blessed them and called their name “Man,†” in the day they were created. 3And Adam lived thirty and a hundred years, and he begat a son in his own likeness, after his image, and he called his name Seth. 4And the days of Adam after his begetting Seth were eight hundred years, and he begat sons and daughters. 5And all the days of Adam that he lived were nine hundred years and thirty years, and he died. 6And Seth lived five years and a hundred years, and he begat Enosh. 7And Seth lived after his begetting Enosh seven years and eight hundred years, and he begat sons and daughters. 8And all the days of Seth were two and ten years and nine hundred years, and he died. 9And Enosh lived ninety years, and he begat Cainan. 10And Enosh lived after his begetting Cainan five and ten years and eight hundred years, and he begat sons and daughters. 11And all the days of Enosh were five years nine hundred years, and he died. 12And Cainan lived seventy years, and he begat Mahalalel. 13And Cainan lived after his begetting Mahalalel forty years and eight hundred years, and he begat sons and daughters. 14And all the days of Cainan were ten years and nine hundred years, and he died. 15And Mahalalel lived five years and sixty years, and he begat Jared. 16And Mahalalel lived after his begetting Jared thirty years and eight hundred years, and he begat sons and daughters. 17And all the days of Mahalalel were five and ninety years and eight hundred years, and he died. God Takes Up Enoch 18And Jared lived two and sixty years and a hundred years, and he begat Enoch. 19And Jared lived after his begetting Enoch eight hundred years, and he begat sons and daughters. 20And all the days of Jared were two and sixty years and nine hundred years, and he died. 21And Enoch lived five and sixty years, and he begat Methuselah. 22And Enoch walked with God† after his begetting Methuselah three hundred years, and he begat sons and daughters. 23And all the days of Enoch were five and sixty years and three hundred years. 24And Enoch walked with God, and he was no more, for God had taken him.† From Methuselah to Noah 25And Methuselah lived seven and eighty years and a hundred years, and he begat Lamech. 26And Methuselah lived after his begetting Lamech two and eighty years and seven hundred years, and he begat sons and daughters. 27And all the days of Methuselah were nine and sixty years and nine hundred years, and he died. 28And Lamech lived two and eighty years and a hundred years, and he begat a son. 29And he called his name Noah,† saying, “This one shall give us comfort from our work and from the toil of our hands on account of the ground that YHWH has cursed.” 30And Lamech lived after his begetting Noah five and ninety years and five hundred years, and he begat sons and daughters. 31And all the days of Lamech were seven and seventy years and seven hundred years, and he died. 32Noah was a son of five hundred years, and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
