The Descendants of Adam
(1 Chronicles 1:1–3)

1 זֶ֣ה (This is) סֵ֔פֶר (the book) תּוֹלְדֹ֖ת (of the generations) אָדָ֑ם (of Adam). בְּי֗וֹם (In the day) בְּרֹ֤א (created) אֱלֹהִים֙ (God) אָדָ֔ם (man), בִּדְמ֥וּת (in the likeness) אֱלֹהִ֖ים (of God) עָשָׂ֥ה (He made) אֹתֽוֹ׃ (him).

2 זָכָ֥ר (Male) וּנְקֵבָ֖ה (and female) בְּרָאָ֑ם (He created them), וַיְבָ֣רֶךְ (and He blessed) אֹתָ֗ם (them) וַיִּקְרָ֤א (and called) אֶת־ (-) שְׁמָם֙ (their name) אָדָ֔ם (Man) בְּי֖וֹם (in the day) הִבָּֽרְאָֽם׃ס (they were created).

3 וַֽיְחִ֣י (And lived) אָדָ֗ם (Adam) שְׁלֹשִׁ֤ים (thirty) וּמְאַת֙ (and a hundred) שָׁנָ֔ה (years), וַיּ֥וֹלֶד (and he begat a son) בִּדְמוּת֖וֹ (in his own likeness), כְּצַלְמ֑וֹ (after his image); וַיִּקְרָ֥א (and he called) אֶת־ (-) שְׁמ֖וֹ (his name) שֵֽׁת׃ (Seth).

4 וַיִּֽהְי֣וּ (And were) יְמֵי־ (the days) אָדָ֗ם (of Adam) אַֽחֲרֵי֙ (after) הוֹלִיד֣וֹ (his begetting) אֶת־ (-) שֵׁ֔ת (Seth) שְׁמֹנֶ֥ה (eight) מֵאֹ֖ת (hundred) שָׁנָ֑ה (years), וַיּ֥וֹלֶד (and he begat) בָּנִ֖ים (sons) וּבָנֽוֹת׃ (and daughters).

5 וַיִּֽהְי֞וּ (And were) כָּל־ (all) יְמֵ֤י (the days) אָדָם֙ (of Adam) אֲשֶׁר־ (that) חַ֔י (he lived) תְּשַׁ֤ע (nine) מֵאוֹת֙ (hundred) שָׁנָ֔ה (years) וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֖ים (and thirty) שָׁנָ֑ה (years); וַיָּמֹֽת׃ס (and he died).

6 וַֽיְחִי־ (And lived) שֵׁ֕ת (Seth) חָמֵ֥שׁ (five) שָׁנִ֖ים (years) וּמְאַ֣ת (and a hundred) שָׁנָ֑ה (years), וַיּ֖וֹלֶד (and he begat) אֶת־ (-) אֱנֽוֹשׁ׃ (Enosh).

7 וַֽיְחִי־ (And lived) שֵׁ֗ת (Seth) אַֽחֲרֵי֙ (after) הוֹלִיד֣וֹ (his begetting) אֶת־ (-) אֱנ֔וֹשׁ (Enosh) שֶׁ֣בַע (seven) שָׁנִ֔ים (years) וּשְׁמֹנֶ֥ה (and eight) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) שָׁנָ֑ה (years), וַיּ֥וֹלֶד (and he begat) בָּנִ֖ים (sons) וּבָנֽוֹת׃ (and daughters).

8 וַיִּֽהְיוּ֙ (And were) כָּל־ (all) יְמֵי־ (the days) שֵׁ֔ת (of Seth) שְׁתֵּ֤ים (two) עֶשְׂרֵה֙ (and ten) שָׁנָ֔ה (years), וּתְשַׁ֥ע (and nine) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) שָׁנָ֑ה (years), וַיָּמֹֽת׃ס (and he died).

9 וַֽיְחִ֥י (And lived) אֱנ֖וֹשׁ (Enosh) תִּשְׁעִ֣ים (ninety) שָׁנָ֑ה (years), וַיּ֖וֹלֶד (and he begat) אֶת־ (-) קֵינָֽן׃ (Cainan).

10 וַֽיְחִ֣י (And lived) אֱנ֗וֹשׁ (Enosh) אַֽחֲרֵי֙ (after) הוֹלִיד֣וֹ (his begetting) אֶת־ (-) קֵינָ֔ן (Cainan), חֲמֵ֤שׁ (five) עֶשְׂרֵה֙ (and ten) שָׁנָ֔ה (years) וּשְׁמֹנֶ֥ה (and eight) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) שָׁנָ֑ה (years), וַיּ֥וֹלֶד (and he begat) בָּנִ֖ים (sons) וּבָנֽוֹת׃ (and daughters).

11 וַיִּֽהְיוּ֙ (And were) כָּל־ (all) יְמֵ֣י (the days) אֱנ֔וֹשׁ (of Enosh) חָמֵ֣שׁ (five) שָׁנִ֔ים (years) וּתְשַׁ֥ע (and nine) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) שָׁנָ֑ה (years), וַיָּמֹֽת׃ס (and he died).

12 וַֽיְחִ֥י (And lived) קֵינָ֖ן (Cainan) שִׁבְעִ֣ים (seventy) שָׁנָ֑ה (years), וַיּ֖וֹלֶד (and he begat) אֶת־ (-) מַֽהֲלַלְאֵֽל׃ (Mahalalel).

13 וַיְחִ֣י (And lived) קֵינָ֗ן (Cainan) אַחֲרֵי֙ (after) הוֹלִיד֣וֹ (his begetting) אֶת־ (-) מַֽהֲלַלְאֵ֔ל (Mahalalel) אַרְבָּעִ֣ים (forty) שָׁנָ֔ה (years) וּשְׁמֹנֶ֥ה (and eight) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) שָׁנָ֑ה (years), וַיּ֥וֹלֶד (and he begat) בָּנִ֖ים (sons) וּבָנֽוֹת׃ (and daughters).

14 וַיִּֽהְיוּ֙ (And were) כָּל־ (all) יְמֵ֣י (the days) קֵינָ֔ן (of Cainan) עֶ֣שֶׂר (ten) שָׁנִ֔ים (years) וּתְשַׁ֥ע (and nine) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) שָׁנָ֑ה (years), וַיָּמֹֽת׃ס (and he died).

15 וַֽיְחִ֣י (And lived) מַֽהֲלַלְאֵ֔ל (Mahalalel) חָמֵ֥שׁ (five) שָׁנִ֖ים (years) וְשִׁשִּׁ֣ים (and sixty) שָׁנָ֑ה (years), וַיּ֖וֹלֶד (and he begat) אֶת־ (-) יָֽרֶד׃ (Jared).

16 וַֽיְחִ֣י (And lived) מַֽהֲלַלְאֵ֗ל (Mahalalel) אַֽחֲרֵי֙ (after) הוֹלִיד֣וֹ (his begetting) אֶת־ (-) יֶ֔רֶד (Jared) שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים (thirty) שָׁנָ֔ה (years) וּשְׁמֹנֶ֥ה (and eight) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) שָׁנָ֑ה (years), וַיּ֥וֹלֶד (and he begat) בָּנִ֖ים (sons) וּבָנֽוֹת׃ (and daughters).

17 וַיִּהְיוּ֙ (And were) כָּל־ (all) יְמֵ֣י (the days) מַהֲלַלְאֵ֔ל (of Mahalalel) חָמֵ֤שׁ (five) וְתִשְׁעִים֙ (and ninety) שָׁנָ֔ה (years) וּשְׁמֹנֶ֥ה (and eight) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) שָׁנָ֑ה (years), וַיָּמֹֽת׃ס (and he died).

God Takes Up Enoch
(Hebrews 11:5)

18 וַֽיְחִי־ (And lived) יֶ֕רֶד (Jared) שְׁתַּ֧יִם (two) וְשִׁשִּׁ֛ים (and sixty) שָׁנָ֖ה (years) וּמְאַ֣ת (and a hundred) שָׁנָ֑ה (years), וַיּ֖וֹלֶד (and he begat) אֶת־ (-) חֲנֽוֹךְ׃ (Enoch).

19 וַֽיְחִי־ (And lived) יֶ֗רֶד (Jared) אַֽחֲרֵי֙ (after) הוֹלִיד֣וֹ (his begetting) אֶת־ (-) חֲנ֔וֹךְ (Enoch) שְׁמֹנֶ֥ה (eight) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) שָׁנָ֑ה (years), וַיּ֥וֹלֶד (and he begat) בָּנִ֖ים (sons) וּבָנֽוֹת׃ (and daughters).

20 וַיִּֽהְיוּ֙ (And were) כָּל־ (all) יְמֵי־ (the days) יֶ֔רֶד (of Jared) שְׁתַּ֤יִם (two) וְשִׁשִּׁים֙ (and sixty) שָׁנָ֔ה (years) וּתְשַׁ֥ע (and nine) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) שָׁנָ֑ה (years), וַיָּמֹֽת׃פ (and he died).

21 וַֽיְחִ֣י (And lived) חֲנ֔וֹךְ (Enoch) חָמֵ֥שׁ (five) וְשִׁשִּׁ֖ים (and sixty) שָׁנָ֑ה (years), וַיּ֖וֹלֶד (and he begat) אֶת־ (-) מְתוּשָֽׁלַח׃ (Methuselah).

22 וַיִּתְהַלֵּ֨ךְ (And walked) חֲנ֜וֹךְ (Enoch) אֶת־ (with) הָֽאֱלֹהִ֗ים (God) אַֽחֲרֵי֙ (after) הוֹלִיד֣וֹ (his begetting) אֶת־ (-) מְתוּשֶׁ֔לַח (Methuselah) שְׁלֹ֥שׁ (three) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) שָׁנָ֑ה (years), וַיּ֥וֹלֶד (and he begat) בָּנִ֖ים (sons) וּבָנֽוֹת׃ (and daughters).

23 וַיְהִ֖י (And were) כָּל־ (all) יְמֵ֣י (the days) חֲנ֑וֹךְ (of Enoch) חָמֵ֤שׁ (five) וְשִׁשִּׁים֙ (and sixty) שָׁנָ֔ה (years) וּשְׁלֹ֥שׁ (and three) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) שָׁנָֽה׃ (years).

24 וַיִּתְהַלֵּ֥ךְ (And walked) חֲנ֖וֹךְ (Enoch) אֶת־ (with) הָֽאֱלֹהִ֑ים (God), וְאֵינֶ֕נּוּ (and he was no more), כִּֽי־ (for) לָקַ֥ח (had taken) אֹת֖וֹ (him) אֱלֹהִֽים׃פ (God).

From Methuselah to Noah

25 וַיְחִ֣י (And lived) מְתוּשֶׁ֔לַח (Methuselah) שֶׁ֧בַע (seven) וּשְׁמֹנִ֛ים (and eighty) שָׁנָ֖ה (years) וּמְאַ֣ת (and a hundred) שָׁנָ֑ה (years), וַיּ֖וֹלֶד (and he begat) אֶת־ (-) לָֽמֶךְ׃ (Lamech).

26 וַֽיְחִ֣י (And lived) מְתוּשֶׁ֗לַח (Methuselah) אַֽחֲרֵי֙ (after) הוֹלִיד֣וֹ (his begetting) אֶת־ (-) לֶ֔מֶךְ (Lamech) שְׁתַּ֤יִם (two) וּשְׁמוֹנִים֙ (and eighty) שָׁנָ֔ה (years) וּשְׁבַ֥ע (and seven) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) שָׁנָ֑ה (years), וַיּ֥וֹלֶד (and he begat) בָּנִ֖ים (sons) וּבָנֽוֹת׃ (and daughters).

27 וַיִּהְיוּ֙ (And were) כָּל־ (all) יְמֵ֣י (the days) מְתוּשֶׁ֔לַח (of Methuselah) תֵּ֤שַׁע (nine) וְשִׁשִּׁים֙ (and sixty) שָׁנָ֔ה (years) וּתְשַׁ֥ע (and nine) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) שָׁנָ֑ה (years), וַיָּמֹֽת׃פ (and he died).

28 וַֽיְחִי־ (And lived) לֶ֕מֶךְ (Lamech) שְׁתַּ֧יִם (two) וּשְׁמֹנִ֛ים (and eighty) שָׁנָ֖ה (years) וּמְאַ֣ת (and a hundred) שָׁנָ֑ה (years), וַיּ֖וֹלֶד (and he begat) בֵּֽן׃ (a son).

29 וַיִּקְרָ֧א (And he called) אֶת־ (-) שְׁמ֛וֹ (his name) נֹ֖חַ (Noah), לֵאמֹ֑ר (saying), זֶ֠ה (This one) יְנַחֲמֵ֤נוּ (shall give us comfort) מִֽמַּעֲשֵׂ֙נוּ֙ (from our work) וּמֵעִצְּב֣וֹן (and from the toil) יָדֵ֔ינוּ (of our hands), מִן־ (on account) הָ֣אֲדָמָ֔ה (of the ground) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (that) אֵֽרְרָ֖הּ (has cursed) יְהוָֽה׃ (YHWH).

30 וַֽיְחִי־ (And lived) לֶ֗מֶךְ (Lamech) אַֽחֲרֵי֙ (after) הוֹלִיד֣וֹ (his begetting) אֶת־ (-) נֹ֔חַ (Noah) חָמֵ֤שׁ (five) וְתִשְׁעִים֙ (and ninety) שָׁנָ֔ה (years) וַחֲמֵ֥שׁ (and five) מֵאֹ֖ת (hundred) שָׁנָ֑ה (years), וַיּ֥וֹלֶד (and he begat) בָּנִ֖ים (sons) וּבָנֽוֹת׃ (and daughters).

31 וַֽיְהִי֙ (And were) כָּל־ (all) יְמֵי־ (the days) לֶ֔מֶךְ (of Lamech) שֶׁ֤בַע (seven) וְשִׁבְעִים֙ (and seventy) שָׁנָ֔ה (years) וּשְׁבַ֥ע (and seven) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) שָׁנָ֑ה (years), וַיָּמֹֽת׃ס (and he died).

32 וַֽיְהִי־ (And was) נֹ֕חַ (Noah) בֶּן־ (a son) חֲמֵ֥שׁ (of five) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) שָׁנָ֑ה (years), וַיּ֣וֹלֶד (and begat) נֹ֔חַ (Noah) אֶת־ (-) שֵׁ֖ם (Shem), אֶת־ (-) חָ֥ם (Ham), וְאֶת־ (and) יָֽפֶת׃ (Japheth).
