Restrictions against the Unclean

1  וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר (And spoke) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) אֶל־ (to) מֹשֶׁ֥ה (Moses), לֵּאמֹֽר׃ (saying), 2  דַּבֵּ֨ר (Speak) אֶֽל־ (to) אַהֲרֹ֜ן (Aaron) וְאֶל־ (and to) בָּנָ֗יו (his sons), וְיִנָּֽזְרוּ֙ (and they shall be separated) מִקָּדְשֵׁ֣י (from the holy things) בְנֵֽי־ (of the sons) יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל (of Israel), וְלֹ֥א (and not) יְחַלְּל֖וּ (they shall profane) אֶת־ (-) שֵׁ֣ם (name) קָדְשִׁ֑י (My holy) אֲשֶׁ֨ר (that) הֵ֧ם (they) מַקְדִּשִׁ֛ים (are sanctifying) לִ֖י (to Me). אֲנִ֥י (I am) יְהוָֽה׃ (YHWH).

3  אֱמֹ֣ר (Say) אֲלֵהֶ֗ם (to them) לְדֹרֹ֨תֵיכֶ֜ם (throughout your⁺ generations), כָּל־ (any) אִ֣ישׁ׀ (man) אֲשֶׁר־ (who) יִקְרַ֣ב (draws near) מִכָּל־ (from all) זַרְעֲכֶ֗ם (of your⁺ seed) אֶל־ (to) הַקֳּדָשִׁים֙ (the holy things) אֲשֶׁ֨ר (that) יַקְדִּ֤ישׁוּ (are sanctifying) בְנֵֽי־ (the sons) יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ (of Israel) לַֽיהוָ֔ה (to YHWH), וְטֻמְאָת֖וֹ (and his uncleanness) עָלָ֑יו (is upon him), וְנִכְרְתָ֞ה (and shall be cut off) הַנֶּ֧פֶשׁ (soul) הַהִ֛וא (that) מִלְּפָנַ֖י (from before My face). אֲנִ֥י (I am) יְהוָֽה׃ (YHWH).

4  אִ֣ישׁ (Any) אִ֞ישׁ (man) מִזֶּ֣רַע (from the seed) אַהֲרֹ֗ן (of Aaron) וְה֤וּא (and who is) צָר֙וּעַ֙ (a leper) א֣וֹ (or) זָ֔ב (has a discharge), בַּקֳּדָשִׁים֙ (the holy things) לֹ֣א (not) יֹאכַ֔ל (he shall eat) עַ֖ד (until) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) יִטְהָ֑ר (he is clean)— וְהַנֹּגֵ֙עַ֙ (and whoever touches) בְּכָל־ (anything) טְמֵא־ (made unclean) נֶ֔פֶשׁ (by a dead soul), א֣וֹ (or) אִ֔ישׁ (a man) אֲשֶׁר־ (whom) תֵּצֵ֥א (goes out) מִמֶּ֖נּוּ (from him) שִׁכְבַת־ (a lying) זָֽרַע׃ (of seed), 5  אוֹ־ (or) אִישׁ֙ (a man) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (who) יִגַּ֔ע (touches) בְּכָל־ (any) שֶׁ֖רֶץ (swarming thing) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) יִטְמָא־ (is unclean) ל֑וֹ (to him), א֤וֹ (or) בְאָדָם֙ (any person) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (who) יִטְמָא־ (is unclean) ל֔וֹ (to him), לְכֹ֖ל (whatever) טֻמְאָתֽוֹ׃ (his uncleanness). 6  נֶ֚פֶשׁ (The soul) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (who) תִּגַּע־ (touches) בּ֔וֹ (it) וְטָמְאָ֖ה (and shall be unclean) עַד־ (until) הָעָ֑רֶב (the evening), וְלֹ֤א (and not) יֹאכַל֙ (he shall eat) מִן־ (from) הַקֳּדָשִׁ֔ים (the holy things), כִּ֛י (unless) אִם־ (if) רָחַ֥ץ (he bathes) בְּשָׂר֖וֹ (his flesh) בַּמָּֽיִם׃ (in the water).

7  וּבָ֥א (And when goes down) הַשֶּׁ֖מֶשׁ (the sun), וְטָהֵ֑ר (and he shall be clean), וְאַחַר֙ (and afterward) יֹאכַ֣ל (he may eat) מִן־ (from) הַקֳּדָשִׁ֔ים (the holy things), כִּ֥י (because) לַחְמ֖וֹ (his bread) הֽוּא׃ (it is). 8  נְבֵלָ֧ה (A carcass) וּטְרֵפָ֛ה (and torn thing) לֹ֥א (not) יֹאכַ֖ל (he shall eat), לְטָמְאָה־ (to become unclean) בָ֑הּ (by it). אֲנִ֖י (I am) יְהוָֽה׃ (YHWH). 9  וְשָׁמְר֣וּ (And they shall keep) אֶת־ (-) מִשְׁמַרְתִּ֗י (My charge), וְלֹֽא־ (and not) יִשְׂא֤וּ (they shall bear) עָלָיו֙ (for it) חֵ֔טְא (sin) וּמֵ֥תוּ (and die) ב֖וֹ (by it) כִּ֣י (because) יְחַלְּלֻ֑הוּ (they profane it). אֲנִ֥י (I am) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) מְקַדְּשָֽׁם׃ (who sanctifies them).

10  וְכָל־ (And any) זָ֖ר (outsider) לֹא־ (not) יֹ֣אכַל (shall eat) קֹ֑דֶשׁ (a holy thing); תּוֹשַׁ֥ב (a settler) כֹּהֵ֛ן (of a priest) וְשָׂכִ֖יר (and a hireling) לֹא־ (not) יֹ֥אכַל (shall eat) קֹֽדֶשׁ׃ (a holy thing). 11  וְכֹהֵ֗ן (And a priest) כִּֽי־ (if) יִקְנֶ֥ה (he buys) נֶ֙פֶשׁ֙ (a soul) קִנְיַ֣ן (the property) כַּסְפּ֔וֹ (of his silver), ה֖וּא (he) יֹ֣אכַל (may eat) בּ֑וֹ (it), וִילִ֣יד (and one who is born) בֵּית֔וֹ (of his house), הֵ֖ם (they) יֹאכְל֥וּ (may eat) בְלַחְמֽוֹ׃ (his bread).

12  וּבַת־ (And a daughter) כֹּהֵ֔ן (of the priest) כִּ֥י (if) תִהְיֶ֖ה (she becomes) לְאִ֣ישׁ (to) זָ֑ר (an outsider), הִ֕וא (she) בִּתְרוּמַ֥ת (of the contributions) הַקֳּדָשִׁ֖ים (of the holy things) לֹ֥א (not) תֹאכֵֽל׃ (may eat). 13  וּבַת־ (And a daughter) כֹּהֵן֩ (of the priest) כִּ֨י (if) תִהְיֶ֜ה (she becomes) אַלְמָנָ֣ה (a widow) וּגְרוּשָׁ֗ה (or a divorced woman) וְזֶרַע֮ (and has seed) אֵ֣ין (not) לָהּ֒ (to her), וְשָׁבָ֞ה (and she has returned) אֶל־ (to) בֵּ֤ית (the house) אָבִ֙יהָ֙ (of her father) כִּנְעוּרֶ֔יהָ (as in her youth), מִלֶּ֥חֶם (from the bread) אָבִ֖יהָ (of her father) תֹּאכֵ֑ל (she may eat), וְכָל־ (and any) זָ֖ר (outsider) לֹא־ (not) יֹ֥אכַל (shall eat) בּֽוֹ׃ס (it).

14  וְאִ֕ישׁ (And a man) כִּֽי־ (if) יֹאכַ֥ל (eats) קֹ֖דֶשׁ (a holy thing) בִּשְׁגָגָ֑ה (in error), וְיָסַ֤ף (and he shall add) חֲמִֽשִׁיתוֹ֙ (its fifth) עָלָ֔יו (on it) וְנָתַ֥ן (and he shall give it) לַכֹּהֵ֖ן (to the priest) אֶת־ (-) הַקֹּֽדֶשׁ׃ (the holy thing). 15  וְלֹ֣א (And not) יְחַלְּל֔וּ (they shall profane) אֶת־ (-) קָדְשֵׁ֖י (the holy things) בְּנֵ֣י (of the sons) יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל (of Israel) אֵ֥ת (-), אֲשֶׁר־ (which) יָרִ֖ימוּ (they raise up) לַיהוָֽה׃ (to YHWH), 16  וְהִשִּׂ֤יאוּ (or cause to bear) אוֹתָם֙ (them) עֲוֺ֣ן (the iniquity) אַשְׁמָ֔ה (of guilt) בְּאָכְלָ֖ם (when they eat) אֶת־ (-) קָדְשֵׁיהֶ֑ם (their holy things). כִּ֛י (For) אֲנִ֥י (I), יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH), מְקַדְּשָֽׁם׃פ (who sanctifies them).

Worthy Offerings

17  וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר (And spoke) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) אֶל־ (to) מֹשֶׁ֥ה (Moses), לֵּאמֹֽר׃ (saying), 18  דַּבֵּ֨ר (Speak) אֶֽל־ (to) אַהֲרֹ֜ן (Aaron), וְאֶל־ (and to) בָּנָ֗יו (his sons), וְאֶל֙ (and to) כָּל־ (all) בְּנֵ֣י (the sons) יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל (of Israel), וְאָמַרְתָּ֖ (and say) אֲלֵהֶ֑ם (to them), אִ֣ישׁ (Any) אִישׁ֩ (man) מִבֵּ֨ית (from the house) יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל (of Israel) וּמִן־ (and from) הַגֵּ֣ר (the sojourners) בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל (in Israel) אֲשֶׁ֨ר (who) יַקְרִ֤יב (brings near) קָרְבָּנוֹ֙ (his sacrifice) לְכָל־ (for any) נִדְרֵיהֶם֙ (of his vows) וּלְכָל־ (or for any) נִדְבוֹתָ֔ם (of his freewill offerings) אֲשֶׁר־ (that) יַקְרִ֥יבוּ (they bring near) לַיהוָ֖ה (to YHWH) לְעֹלָֽה׃ (for a burnt offering), 19  לִֽרְצֹנְכֶ֑ם (for your⁺ acceptance) תָּמִ֣ים (unblemished) זָכָ֔ר (a male) בַּבָּקָ֕ר (among the herd), בַּכְּשָׂבִ֖ים (among the sheep), וּבָֽעִזִּֽים׃ (or among the goats). 20  כֹּ֛ל (Anything) אֲשֶׁר־ (that) בּ֥וֹ (in it) מ֖וּם (has a blemish), לֹ֣א (not) תַקְרִ֑יבוּ (you⁺ shall bring near); כִּי־ (for) לֹ֥א (not) לְרָצ֖וֹן (accepted) יִהְיֶ֥ה (it shall be) לָכֶֽם׃ (for you⁺).

21  וְאִ֗ישׁ (And a man) כִּֽי־ (if) יַקְרִ֤יב (he brings near) זֶֽבַח־ (a sacrifice) שְׁלָמִים֙ (of peace offerings) לַיהוָ֔ה (to YHWH) לְפַלֵּא־ (to fulfill) נֶ֙דֶר֙ (a vow), א֣וֹ (or) לִנְדָבָ֔ה (for a freewill offering) בַּבָּקָ֖ר (among the herd), א֣וֹ (or) בַצֹּ֑אן (among the flock), תָּמִ֤ים (unblemished) יִֽהְיֶה֙ (it must be) לְרָצ֔וֹן (for acceptance); כָּל־ (any) מ֖וּם (blemish) לֹ֥א (not) יִהְיֶה־ (there shall be) בּֽוֹ׃ (in it). 22  עַוֶּרֶת֩ (Blind), א֨וֹ (or) שָׁב֜וּר (broken), אוֹ־ (or) חָר֣וּץ (maimed), אֽוֹ־ (or) יַבֶּ֗לֶת (having a running sore), א֤וֹ (or) גָרָב֙ (itch), א֣וֹ (or) יַלֶּ֔פֶת (scab), לֹא־ (not) תַקְרִ֥יבוּ (you⁺ shall bring near) אֵ֖לֶּה (these) לַיהוָ֑ה (to YHWH), וְאִשֶּׁ֗ה (and a fire offering) לֹא־ (not) תִתְּנ֥וּ (you⁺ shall give) מֵהֶ֛ם (from them) עַל־ (on) הַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַ (the altar) לַיהוָֽה׃ (to YHWH).

23  וְשׁ֥וֹר (And an ox) וָשֶׂ֖ה (or a lamb) שָׂר֣וּעַ (with a limb too long) וְקָל֑וּט (or too short), נְדָבָה֙ (as a freewill offering) תַּעֲשֶׂ֣ה (you may do) אֹת֔וֹ (it), וּלְנֵ֖דֶר (but for a vow) לֹ֥א (not) יֵרָצֶֽה׃ (it shall be accepted). 24  וּמָע֤וּךְ (And bruised), וְכָתוּת֙ (and crushed), וְנָת֣וּק (and torn), וְכָר֔וּת (and cut) לֹ֥א (not) תַקְרִ֖יבוּ (you⁺ shall bring near) לַֽיהוָ֑ה (to YHWH). וּֽבְאַרְצְכֶ֖ם (And in your⁺ land) לֹ֥א (and not) תַעֲשֽׂוּ׃ (shall you⁺ do it). 25  וּמִיַּ֣ד (And from the hand) בֶּן־ (of a son) נֵכָ֗ר (of a foreigner) לֹ֥א (not) תַקְרִ֛יבוּ (shall you⁺ bring near) אֶת־ (-) לֶ֥חֶם (the bread) אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֖ם (of your⁺ God) מִכָּל־ (from all) אֵ֑לֶּה (of these). כִּ֣י (Because) מָשְׁחָתָ֤ם (their corruption is) בָּהֶם֙ (in them) מ֣וּם (a blemish) בָּ֔ם (in them), לֹ֥א (not) יֵרָצ֖וּ (they shall be accepted) לָכֶֽם׃פ (for you⁺).

26  וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר (And spoke) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) אֶל־ (to) מֹשֶׁ֥ה (Moses), לֵּאמֹֽר׃ (saying), 27  שׁ֣וֹר (An ox), אוֹ־ (or) כֶ֤שֶׂב (a sheep), אוֹ־ (or) עֵז֙ (a goat) כִּ֣י (when) יִוָּלֵ֔ד (it is born), וְהָיָ֛ה (and it shall be) שִׁבְעַ֥ת (seven) יָמִ֖ים (days) תַּ֣חַת (under) אִמּ֑וֹ (its mother); וּמִיּ֤וֹם (and from the day) הַשְּׁמִינִי֙ (the eighth) וָהָ֔לְאָה (and thereafter), יֵרָצֶ֕ה (it shall be accepted) לְקָרְבַּ֥ן (for an offering) אִשֶּׁ֖ה (a fire offering) לַיהוָֽה׃ (to YHWH). 28  וְשׁ֖וֹר (And an ox) אוֹ־ (or) שֶׂ֑ה (a sheep), אֹת֣וֹ (it) וְאֶת־ (and) בְּנ֔וֹ (its son), לֹ֥א (not) תִשְׁחֲט֖וּ (do slaughter both) בְּי֥וֹם (in day) אֶחָֽד׃ (one).

29  וְכִֽי־ (And when) תִזְבְּח֥וּ (you⁺ sacrifice) זֶֽבַח־ (a sacrifice) תּוֹדָ֖ה (of thanksgiving) לַיהוָ֑ה (to YHWH), לִֽרְצֹנְכֶ֖ם (for your⁺ acceptance) תִּזְבָּֽחוּ׃ (you⁺ shall sacrifice it). 30  בַּיּ֤וֹם (On day) הַהוּא֙ (that) יֵאָכֵ֔ל (it shall be eaten); לֹֽא־ (not) תוֹתִ֥ירוּ (you⁺ shall leave) מִמֶּ֖נּוּ (from it) עַד־ (until) בֹּ֑קֶר (morning). אֲנִ֖י (I am) יְהוָֽה׃ (YHWH).

31  וּשְׁמַרְתֶּם֙ (And you⁺ shall keep) מִצְוֺתַ֔י (My commandments) וַעֲשִׂיתֶ֖ם (and you⁺ shall do) אֹתָ֑ם (them). אֲנִ֖י (I am) יְהוָֽה׃ (YHWH). 32  וְלֹ֤א (And not) תְחַלְּלוּ֙ (you⁺ shall profane) אֶת־ (-) שֵׁ֣ם (name) קָדְשִׁ֔י (My holy). וְנִ֨קְדַּשְׁתִּ֔י (And I shall be shown holy) בְּת֖וֹךְ (in the midst) בְּנֵ֣י (of the sons) יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל (of Israel). אֲנִ֥י (I am) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH), מְקַדִּשְׁכֶֽם׃ (who sanctifies you⁺), 33  הַמּוֹצִ֤יא (the One bringing you) אֶתְכֶם֙ (you⁺) מֵאֶ֣רֶץ (out of the land) מִצְרַ֔יִם (of Egypt), לִהְי֥וֹת (to be) לָכֶ֖ם (your⁺) לֵאלֹהִ֑ים (God). אֲנִ֖י (I am) יְהוָֽה׃פ (YHWH).
