Humility in the Bible

Humility is the quality of having a modest view of one's importance. It is a recognition of one's dependence on God and an acknowledgment of the worth of others. The Bible consistently emphasizes the value of humility, contrasting it with pride, which is often depicted as leading to downfall.

Peacemaking in the Bible

In the Beatitudes, Jesus declares, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God" (Matthew 5:9). Peacemakers are those who actively seek to bring about reconciliation and peace, reflecting God's own nature.

The Apostle Paul also emphasizes the importance of peace in the Christian life. In Romans 12:18, he advises, "If it is possible on your part, live at peace with everyone." This instruction acknowledges the challenges of peacemaking but encourages believers to strive for peace as much as it depends on them.

James 3:17-18 further elaborates on the characteristics of heavenly wisdom, stating, "But the wisdom from above is first of all pure, then peace-loving, gentle, accommodating, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace reap the fruit of righteousness." This passage links peacemaking with righteousness, suggesting that those who pursue peace will experience the blessings of a righteous life.

The Interconnection of Humility and Peacemaking
