God does not call His people to postpone faithful love and joyful obedience while waiting for ideal circumstances. Each day is an occasion to honor Him through the relationships He has entrusted to them. Psa 90:10 The length of our days is seventy years—or eighty… that God has given you under the sun— Life itself, with its joys, burdens, and limits, comes from the sovereign hand of God. “Under the sun” describes earthly existence as experienced amid toil, mortality, and unanswered questions. Yet God’s gifts remain good, and gratitude recognizes His kindness even where human understanding is incomplete (James 1:17). Act 17:25 Nor is He served by human hands, as if He needed anything,… all your fleeting days. The repeated reminder of life’s shortness gives weight to ordinary faithfulness. Love within marriage, contentment in daily provision, and obedience in present responsibilities must not be neglected, because no one controls the length or course of his days (Job 14:1–2). 1Ch 29:15 For we are foreigners and strangers in Your presence,… For this is your portion in life God assigns each person a portion of earthly blessing and responsibility. Joy in a godly marriage is not a distraction from wisdom but part of receiving God’s provision with contentment. Like the psalmist, the believer may acknowledge the Lord as the source of his allotted inheritance and security (Psalm 16:5–6). Ecc 3:22 I have seen that there is nothing better for a man… and in your labor under the sun. Work entered human experience before the fall and remains part of God’s purpose for mankind (Genesis 2:15). Though labor is often burdensome in a fallen world, it can be received as a meaningful calling when offered to the Lord. A husband’s enjoyment of home and work joins diligence with gratitude, serving Christ in all that he does (Colossians 3:23–24).
