Job Laments his Birth

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
After this, Job opened his mouth and cursed the day of his birth.1After this Job opened his mouth and cursed the day of his birth.1Afterward Job opened his mouth and cursed the day of his birth.1After this opened Job his mouth, and cursed his day.1After this, Job began to speak and cursed the day he was born.
He said:2And Job said:2And Job said,2And Job spake, and said,2He said:
"May the day of my birth perish, and the night that said, 'A boy is conceived!'3“Let the day perish on which I was born, and the night that said, ‘A man is conceived.’3"Let the day perish on which I was to be born, And the night which said, 'A boy is conceived.'3Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived.3May the day I was born perish, and the night when they said, "A boy is conceived."
That day--may it turn to darkness; may God above not care about it; may no light shine on it.4Let that day be darkness! May God above not seek it, nor light shine upon it.4"May that day be darkness; Let not God above care for it, Nor light shine on it.4Let that day be darkness; let not God regard it from above, neither let the light shine upon it.4If only that day had turned to darkness! May God above not care about it, or light shine on it.
NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
May gloom and utter darkness claim it once more; may a cloud settle over it; may blackness overwhelm it.5Let gloom and deep darkness claim it. Let clouds dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.5"Let darkness and black gloom claim it; Let a cloud settle on it; Let the blackness of the day terrify it.5Let darkness and the shadow of death stain it; let a cloud dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.5May darkness and gloom reclaim it, and a cloud settle over it. May an eclipse of the sun terrify it.
That night--may thick darkness seize it; may it not be included among the days of the year nor be entered in any of the months.6That night—let thick darkness seize it! Let it not rejoice among the days of the year; let it not come into the number of the months.6"As for that night, let darkness seize it; Let it not rejoice among the days of the year; Let it not come into the number of the months.6As for that night, let darkness seize upon it; let it not be joined unto the days of the year, let it not come into the number of the months.6If only darkness had taken that night away! May it not appear among the days of the year or be listed in the calendar.
May that night be barren; may no shout of joy be heard in it.7Behold, let that night be barren; let no joyful cry enter it.7"Behold, let that night be barren; Let no joyful shout enter it.7Lo, let that night be solitary, let no joyful voice come therein.7Yes, may that night be barren; may no joyful shout be heard in it.
May those who curse days curse that day, those who are ready to rouse Leviathan.8Let those curse it who curse the day, who are ready to rouse up Leviathan.8"Let those curse it who curse the day, Who are prepared to rouse Leviathan.8Let them curse it that curse the day, who are ready to raise up their mourning.8Let those who curse certain days cast a spell on it, those who are skilled in rousing Leviathan.
May its morning stars become dark; may it wait for daylight in vain and not see the first rays of dawn,9Let the stars of its dawn be dark; let it hope for light, but have none, nor see the eyelids of the morning,9"Let the stars of its twilight be darkened; Let it wait for light but have none, And let it not see the breaking dawn;9Let the stars of the twilight thereof be dark; let it look for light, but have none; neither let it see the dawning of the day:9May its morning stars grow dark. May it wait for daylight but have none; may it not see the breaking of dawn.

for it did not shut the doors of the womb on me to hide trouble from my eyes.10because it did not shut the doors of my mother’s womb, nor hide trouble from my eyes.10Because it did not shut the opening of my mother's womb, Or hide trouble from my eyes.10Because it shut not up the doors of my mother's womb, nor hid sorrow from mine eyes.10For that night did not shut the doors of my mother's womb, and hide sorrow from my eyes.
"Why did I not perish at birth, and die as I came from the womb?11“Why did I not die at birth, come out from the womb and expire?11"Why did I not die at birth, Come forth from the womb and expire?11Why died I not from the womb? why did I not give up the ghost when I came out of the belly?11Why was I not stillborn; why didn't I die as I came from the womb?
Why were there knees to receive me and breasts that I might be nursed?12Why did the knees receive me? Or why the breasts, that I should nurse?12"Why did the knees receive me, And why the breasts, that I should suck?12Why did the knees prevent me? or why the breasts that I should suck?12Why did the knees receive me, and why were there breasts for me to nurse?
For now I would be lying down in peace; I would be asleep and at rest13For then I would have lain down and been quiet; I would have slept; then I would have been at rest,13"For now I would have lain down and been quiet; I would have slept then, I would have been at rest,13For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest,13Now I would certainly be lying down in peace; I would be asleep. Then I would be at rest
with kings and rulers of the earth, who built for themselves places now lying in ruins,14with kings and counselors of the earth who rebuilt ruins for themselves,14With kings and with counselors of the earth, Who rebuilt ruins for themselves;14With kings and counsellers of the earth, which built desolate places for themselves;14with the kings and counselors of the earth, who rebuilt ruined cities for themselves,

with princes who had gold, who filled their houses with silver.15or with princes who had gold, who filled their houses with silver.15Or with princes who had gold, Who were filling their houses with silver.15Or with princes that had gold, who filled their houses with silver:15or with princes who had gold, who filled their houses with silver.
Or why was I not hidden away in the ground like a stillborn child, like an infant who never saw the light of day?16Or why was I not as a hidden stillborn child, as infants who never see the light?16"Or like a miscarriage which is discarded, I would not be, As infants that never saw light.16Or as an hidden untimely birth I had not been; as infants which never saw light.16Or why was I not hidden like a miscarried child, like infants who never see daylight?
There the wicked cease from turmoil, and there the weary are at rest.17There the wicked cease from troubling, and there the weary are at rest.17"There the wicked cease from raging, And there the weary are at rest.17There the wicked cease from troubling; and there the weary be at rest.17There the wicked cease to make trouble, and there the weary find rest.
Captives also enjoy their ease; they no longer hear the slave driver's shout.18There the prisoners are at ease together; they hear not the voice of the taskmaster.18"The prisoners are at ease together; They do not hear the voice of the taskmaster.18There the prisoners rest together; they hear not the voice of the oppressor.18The captives are completely at ease; they do not hear the voice of their oppressor.
The small and the great are there, and the slaves are freed from their owners.19The small and the great are there, and the slave is free from his master.19"The small and the great are there, And the slave is free from his master.19The small and great are there; and the servant is free from his master.19Both small and great are there, and the slave is set free from his master.

"Why is light given to those in misery, and life to the bitter of soul,20“Why is light given to him who is in misery, and life to the bitter in soul,20"Why is light given to him who suffers, And life to the bitter of soul,20Wherefore is light given to him that is in misery, and life unto the bitter in soul;20Why is light given to one burdened with grief, and life to those whose existence is bitter,
to those who long for death that does not come, who search for it more than for hidden treasure,21who long for death, but it comes not, and dig for it more than for hidden treasures,21Who long for death, but there is none, And dig for it more than for hidden treasures,21Which long for death, but it cometh not; and dig for it more than for hid treasures;21who wait for death, but it does not come, and search for it more than for hidden treasure,
who are filled with gladness and rejoice when they reach the grave?22who rejoice exceedingly and are glad when they find the grave?22Who rejoice greatly, And exult when they find the grave?22Which rejoice exceedingly, and are glad, when they can find the grave?22who are filled with much joy and are glad when they reach the grave?
Why is life given to a man whose way is hidden, whom God has hedged in?23Why is light given to a man whose way is hidden, whom God has hedged in?23"Why is light given to a man whose way is hidden, And whom God has hedged in?23Why is light given to a man whose way is hid, and whom God hath hedged in?23Why is life given to a man whose path is hidden, whom God has hedged in?
For sighing has become my daily food; my groans pour out like water.24For my sighing comes instead of my bread, and my groanings are poured out like water.24"For my groaning comes at the sight of my food, And my cries pour out like water.24For my sighing cometh before I eat, and my roarings are poured out like the waters.24I sigh when food is put before me, and my groans pour out like water.

What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me.25For the thing that I fear comes upon me, and what I dread befalls me.25"For what I fear comes upon me, And what I dread befalls me.25For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.25For the thing I feared has overtaken me, and what I dreaded has happened to me.
I have no peace, no quietness; I have no rest, but only turmoil."26I am not at ease, nor am I quiet; I have no rest, but trouble comes.”26"I am not at ease, nor am I quiet, And I am not at rest, but turmoil comes."26I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came.26I cannot relax or be still; I have no rest, for trouble comes.
