1When all this had ended, the Israelites in attendance went out to the cities of Judah and broke up the sacred pillars, chopped down the Asherah poles, and tore down the high places and altars throughout Judah and Benjamin, as well as in Ephraim and Manasseh, until they had utterly destroyed them all. Then all the Israelites returned to their cities, each to his own property. 1וּכְכַלּ֣וֹת כָּל־ זֹ֗את יָצְא֨וּ כָּל־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֥ל הַֽנִּמְצְאִים֮ לְעָרֵ֣י יְהוּדָה֒ וַיְשַׁבְּר֣וּ הַמַּצֵּב֣וֹת וַיְגַדְּע֣וּ הָאֲשֵׁרִ֡ים וַיְנַתְּצ֣וּ אֶת־ הַ֠בָּמוֹת וְאֶת־ הַֽמִּזְבְּחֹ֞ת מִכָּל־ יְהוּדָ֧ה וּבִנְיָמִ֛ן וּבְאֶפְרַ֥יִם וּמְנַשֶּׁ֖ה עַד־ לְכַלֵּ֑ה וַיָּשׁ֜וּבוּ כָּל־ בְּנֵ֧י יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל אִ֥ישׁ לַאֲחֻזָּת֖וֹ לְעָרֵיהֶֽם׃ ס
2Hezekiah reestablished the divisions of the priests and Levites— each corresponding to their service among the priests and Levites— for the burnt offerings and peace offerings, for ministry, for giving thanks, and for singing praises at the gates of the LORD's dwelling. 2וַיַּעֲמֵ֣ד יְחִזְקִיָּ֡הוּ אֶת־ מַחְלְק֣וֹת הַכֹּהֲנִ֣ים וְ֠הַלְוִיִּם עַֽל־ מַחְלְקוֹתָ֞ם אִ֣ישׁ ׀ כְּפִ֣י עֲבֹדָת֗וֹ לַכֹּהֲנִים֙ וְלַלְוִיִּ֔ם לְעֹלָ֖ה וְלִשְׁלָמִ֑ים לְשָׁרֵת֙ וּלְהֹד֣וֹת וּלְהַלֵּ֔ל בְּשַׁעֲרֵ֖י מַחֲנ֥וֹת יְהוָֽה׃ ס
3The king contributed from his own possessions for the regular morning and evening burnt offerings and for the burnt offerings on the Sabbaths, New Moons, and appointed feasts, as written in the Law of the LORD. 3וּמְנָת֩ הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ מִן־ רְכוּשׁ֜וֹ לָעֹל֗וֹת לְעֹלוֹת֙ הַבֹּ֣קֶר וְהָעֶ֔רֶב וְהָ֣עֹל֔וֹת לַשַּׁבָּת֖וֹת וְלֶחֳדָשִׁ֣ים וְלַמֹּעֲדִ֑ים כַּכָּת֖וּב בְּתוֹרַ֥ת יְהוָֽה׃
4Moreover, he commanded the people living in Jerusalem to make a contribution for the priests and Levites so that they could devote themselves to the Law of the LORD. 4וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לָעָם֙ לְיוֹשְׁבֵ֣י יְרוּשָׁלִַ֔ם לָתֵ֕ת מְנָ֥ת הַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים וְהַלְוִיִּ֑ם לְמַ֥עַן יֶחֶזְק֖וּ בְּתוֹרַ֥ת יְהוָֽה׃
5As soon as the order went out, the Israelites generously provided the firstfruits of the grain, new wine, oil, and honey, and of all the produce of the field, and they brought in an abundance, a tithe of everything. 5וְכִפְרֹ֣ץ הַדָּבָ֗ר הִרְבּ֤וּ בְנֵֽי־ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ רֵאשִׁ֣ית דָּגָ֗ן תִּיר֤וֹשׁ וְיִצְהָר֙ וּדְבַ֔שׁ וְכֹ֖ל תְּבוּאַ֣ת שָׂדֶ֑ה וּמַעְשַׂ֥ר הַכֹּ֛ל לָרֹ֖ב הֵבִֽיאוּ׃
6And the Israelites and Judahites who lived in the cities of Judah also brought a tithe of their herds and flocks and a tithe of the holy things consecrated to the LORD their God, and they laid them in large heaps. 6וּבְנֵ֧י יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל וִֽיהוּדָ֗ה הַיּֽוֹשְׁבִים֮ בְּעָרֵ֣י יְהוּדָה֒ גַּם־ הֵ֗ם מַעְשַׂ֤ר בָּקָר֙ וָצֹ֔אן וּמַעְשַׂ֣ר קָֽדָשִׁ֔ים הַמְקֻדָּשִׁ֖ים לַיהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֑ם הֵבִ֕יאוּ וַֽיִּתְּנ֖וּ עֲרֵמ֥וֹת עֲרֵמֽוֹת׃ ס
7In the third month they began building up the heaps, and they finished in the seventh month. 7בַּחֹ֙דֶשׁ֙ הַשְּׁלִשִׁ֔י הֵחֵ֥לּוּ הָעֲרֵמ֖וֹת לְיִסּ֑וֹד וּבַחֹ֥דֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִ֖י כִּלּֽוּ׃ ס
8When Hezekiah and his officials came and viewed the heaps, they blessed the LORD and His people Israel. 8וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ יְחִזְקִיָּ֣הוּ וְהַשָּׂרִ֔ים וַיִּרְא֖וּ אֶת־ הָעֲרֵמ֑וֹת וַֽיְבָרֲכוּ֙ אֶת־ יְהוָ֔ה וְאֵ֖ת עַמּ֥וֹ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ פ
9Then Hezekiah questioned the priests and Levites about the heaps, 9וַיִּדְרֹ֣שׁ יְחִזְקִיָּ֗הוּ עַל־ הַכֹּֽהֲנִ֛ים וְהַלְוִיִּ֖ם עַל־ הָעֲרֵמֽוֹת׃
10and Azariah, the chief priest of the household of Zadok, answered him, “Since [the people] began to bring their contributions into the house of the LORD, we have had enough to eat and there is plenty left over, because the LORD has blessed His people; this great abundance is what is left over.” 10וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֗יו עֲזַרְיָ֧הוּ הַכֹּהֵ֛ן הָרֹ֖אשׁ לְבֵ֣ית צָד֑וֹק וַ֠יֹּאמֶר מֵהָחֵ֨ל הַתְּרוּמָ֜ה לָבִ֣יא בֵית־ יְהוָ֗ה אָכ֨וֹל וְשָׂב֤וֹעַ וְהוֹתֵר֙ עַד־ לָר֔וֹב כִּ֤י יְהוָה֙ בֵּרַ֣ךְ אֶת־ עַמּ֔וֹ וְהַנּוֹתָ֖ר אֶת־ הֶהָמ֥וֹן הַזֶּֽה׃ ס
11Then Hezekiah commanded them to prepare storerooms in the house of the LORD, and they did so. 11וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְחִזְקִיָּ֗הוּ לְהָכִ֧ין לְשָׁכ֛וֹת בְּבֵ֥ית יְהוָ֖ה וַיָּכִֽינוּ׃
12And they faithfully brought in the contributions, tithes, and dedicated gifts. Conaniah the Levite was the officer in charge of them, and his brother Shimei was second. 12וַיָּבִ֨יאוּ אֶת־ הַתְּרוּמָ֧ה וְהַֽמַּעֲשֵׂ֛ר וְהַקֳּדָשִׁ֖ים בֶּאֱמוּנָ֑ה וַעֲלֵיהֶ֤ם נָגִיד֙ [כונניהו] (כָּֽנַנְיָ֣הוּ‪‬) הַלֵּוִ֔י וְשִׁמְעִ֥י אָחִ֖יהוּ מִשְׁנֶֽה׃
13Jehiel, Azaziah, Nahath, Asahel, Jerimoth, Jozabad, Eliel, Ismachiah, Mahath, and Benaiah [were] overseers under the authority of Conaniah and his brother Shimei, by appointment of King Hezekiah and of Azariah the chief official of the house of God. 13וִֽיחִיאֵ֡ל וַ֠עֲזַזְיָהוּ וְנַ֨חַת וַעֲשָׂהאֵ֜ל וִֽירִימ֤וֹת וְיוֹזָבָד֙ וֶאֱלִיאֵ֣ל וְיִסְמַכְיָ֔הוּ וּמַ֖חַת וּבְנָיָ֑הוּ פְּקִידִ֗ים מִיַּ֤ד [כונניהו] (כָּֽנַנְיָ֙הוּ֙) וְשִׁמְעִ֣י אָחִ֔יו בְּמִפְקַד֙ יְחִזְקִיָּ֣הוּ הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וַעֲזַרְיָ֖הוּ נְגִ֥יד בֵּית־ הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃
14Kore son of Imnah the Levite, the keeper of the East Gate, was in charge of the freewill offerings given to God, distributing the contributions to the LORD and the consecrated gifts. 14וְקוֹרֵ֨א בֶן־ יִמְנָ֤ה הַלֵּוִי֙ הַשּׁוֹעֵ֣ר לַמִּזְרָ֔חָה עַ֖ל נִדְב֣וֹת הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים לָתֵת֙ תְּרוּמַ֣ת יְהוָ֔ה וְקָדְשֵׁ֖י הַקֳּדָשִֽׁים׃
15Under his authority Eden, Miniamin, Jeshua, Shemaiah, Amariah, and Shecaniah in the cities of the priests faithfully distributed to their [fellow priests] by divisions, whether large or small. 15וְעַל־ יָד֡וֹ עֵ֣דֶן וּ֠מִנְיָמִן וְיֵשׁ֨וּעַ וּֽשְׁמַֽעְיָ֜הוּ אֲמַרְיָ֧הוּ וּשְׁכַנְיָ֛הוּ בְּעָרֵ֥י הַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים בֶּאֱמוּנָ֑ה לָתֵ֤ת לַאֲחֵיהֶם֙ בְּמַחְלְק֔וֹת כַּגָּד֖וֹל כַּקָּטָֽן׃
16In addition, they distributed to the males registered by genealogy who were three years of age or older— to all who would enter the house of the LORD for their daily duties for service in the responsibilities of their divisions. 16מִלְּבַ֞ד הִתְיַחְשָׂ֣ם לִזְכָרִ֗ים מִבֶּ֨ן שָׁל֤וֹשׁ שָׁנִים֙ וּלְמַ֔עְלָה לְכָל־ הַבָּ֥א לְבֵית־ יְהוָ֖ה לִדְבַר־ י֣וֹם בְּיוֹמ֑וֹ לַעֲב֣וֹדָתָ֔ם בְּמִשְׁמְרוֹתָ֖ם כְּמַחְלְקוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃
17They also distributed to the priests enrolled according to families in the genealogy, and to the Levites twenty years of age or older, according their duties [and] divisions. 17וְאֵ֨ת הִתְיַחֵ֤שׂ הַכֹּהֲנִים֙ לְבֵ֣ית אֲבוֹתֵיהֶ֔ם וְהַ֨לְוִיִּ֔ם מִבֶּ֛ן עֶשְׂרִ֥ים שָׁנָ֖ה וּלְמָ֑עְלָה בְּמִשְׁמְרוֹתֵיהֶ֖ם בְּמַחְלְקוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃
18The genealogy included all the little ones, wives, sons, and daughters in the whole assembly. For they had faithfully consecrated themselves as holy. 18וּלְהִתְיַחֵ֗שׂ בְּכָל־ טַפָּ֧ם נְשֵׁיהֶ֛ם וּבְנֵיהֶ֥ם וּבְנוֹתֵיהֶ֖ם לְכָל־ קָהָ֑ל כִּ֥י בֶאֱמוּנָתָ֖ם יִתְקַדְּשׁוּ־ קֹֽדֶשׁ׃
19As for the priests, the descendants of Aaron, [who lived on] the farmlands around their cities, in each and every city, men were designated by name to distribute a portion to every male among the priests and to every Levite listed by the genealogies. 19וְלִבְנֵי֩ אַהֲרֹ֨ן הַכֹּהֲנִ֜ים בִּשְׂדֵ֨י מִגְרַ֤שׁ עָרֵיהֶם֙ בְּכָל־ עִ֣יר וָעִ֔יר אֲנָשִׁ֕ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר נִקְּב֖וּ בְּשֵׁמ֑וֹת לָתֵ֣ת מָנ֗וֹת לְכָל־ זָכָר֙ בַּכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים וּלְכָל־ הִתְיַחֵ֖שׂ בַּלְוִיִּֽם׃
20So this is what Hezekiah did throughout Judah. He did what was good and upright and true before the LORD his God. 20וַיַּ֧עַשׂ כָּזֹ֛את יְחִזְקִיָּ֖הוּ בְּכָל־ יְהוּדָ֑ה וַיַּ֨עַשׂ הַטּ֤וֹב וְהַיָּשָׁר֙ וְהָ֣אֱמֶ֔ת לִפְנֵ֖י יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהָֽיו׃
21He was diligent in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law and the commandments, in order to seek his God. And so he prospered. 21וּבְכָֽל־ מַעֲשֶׂ֞ה אֲשֶׁר־ הֵחֵ֣ל ׀ בַּעֲבוֹדַ֣ת בֵּית־ הָאֱלֹהִ֗ים וּבַתּוֹרָה֙ וּבַמִּצְוָ֔ה לִדְרֹ֖שׁ לֵֽאלֹהָ֑יו בְּכָל־ לְבָב֥וֹ עָשָׂ֖ה וְהִצְלִֽיחַ׃ פ
