1 You? are sons of YHWH your? God; you? shall not cut yourselves, nor make a baldness between your? eyes on behalf of the dead. 2 For you are a holy people to YHWH your God, and YHWH has chosen you to be for Himself a people, a special treasure above all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. 3 You shall not eat any detestable thing. 4 This is the animal that you? may eat: The ox, a lamb of the flock, and the goat, 5 the deer, and the gazelle, and the roe deer, and the wild goat, and the ibex, and the antelope, and the mountain sheep. 6 And every animal dividing the hoof and having split the cleft into two hooves, bringing up the cud, among the animals, you? may eat. 7 Nevertheless, this you? shall not eat of those bringing up the cud, and of those dividing the cloven hoof: The camel, and the hare, and the rock badger, for they are bringing up the cud, and the hoof have not divided; they are unclean for you?. 8 And the swine, for it is dividing the hoof and not bringing up the cud. It is unclean for you?. Their flesh you? shall not eat, and their carcass you? shall not touch. 9 This you? may eat of all that are in the waters: All that have fins and scales you? may eat, 10 and whatever does not have fins and scales you? shall not eat; it is unclean for you?. 11 All clean birds you? may eat. 12 And these are they of which you? shall not eat: The eagle, and the vulture, and the buzzard, 13 and the red kite, and the falcon, and the kite after its kind, 14 and every raven after its kind, 15 and the daughter of the ostrich, and the screech owl, and the gull, and the hawk after its kind, 16 the little owl, and the screech owl, and the white owl, 17 and the desert owl, and the osprey, and the cormorant, 18 and the stork, and the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat. 19 And every swarming thing that flies is unclean for you?; they shall not be eaten. 20 All clean birds you? may eat.
