A song of chanting to Asaph. O God, not stillness to thee: thou wilt not be silent, and thou wilt not rest, O God. O God, do not keep silence; do not hold your peace or be still, O God! A song. A psalm of Asaph. O God, do not remain silent; do not turn a deaf ear, do not stand aloof, O God.
For behold, thine enemies will be clamorous; and they hating thee lifted up the head. For behold, your enemies make an uproar; those who hate you have raised their heads. See how your enemies growl, how your foes rear their heads.
Against thy people they will make crafty consultation, and they will counsel against thy hidden ones. They lay crafty plans against your people; they consult together against your treasured ones. With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish.
They said, Come, and we will cut them off from a nation; and the name of Israel shall no more be remembered. They say, “Come, let us wipe them out as a nation; let the name of Israel be remembered no more!” “Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation, so that Israel’s name is remembered no more.”
For they counseled together with the heart: they will cut out a covenant against thee: For they conspire with one accord; against you they make a covenant— With one mind they plot together; they form an alliance against you—
The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagarites. the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites, the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, of Moab and the Hagrites,
Gebal and Ammon and Amalek; the rovers with the inhabitants of Tyre; Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre; Byblos, Ammon and Amalek, Philistia, with the people of Tyre.
Also Assur was joined with them: they were an arm to the sons of Lot Silence. Asshur also has joined them; they are the strong arm of the children of Lot. Selah Even Assyria has joined them to reinforce Lot’s descendants.
Do to them as Midian, as Sisera, as Jabin, at the torrent Bison: Do to them as you did to Midian, as to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon, Do to them as you did to Midian, as you did to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon,
They were destroyed at the fountain of the dwelling: they were dung to the earth. who were destroyed at En-dor, who became dung for the ground. who perished at Endor and became like dung on the ground.
Set them their nobles as Oreb, and as Zeeb: and as Zebah and as Zalmunna, all their princes: Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna, Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,
Who said, We will inherit for us the dwellings of God. who said, “Let us take possession for ourselves of the pastures of God.” who said, “Let us take possession of the pasturelands of God.”
O my God, set them as a wheel; as straw before the wind. O my God, make them like whirling dust, like chaff before the wind. Make them like tumbleweed, my God, like chaff before the wind.
As fire will burn the forest, and as the flame will cause the mountains to burn. As fire consumes the forest, as the flame sets the mountains ablaze, As fire consumes the forest or a flame sets the mountains ablaze,
So wilt thou pursue them with thy tempest, and thou wilt terrify them with thy whirlwind: so may you pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your hurricane! so pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your storm.
Fill their face with contempt, and they shall seek thy name, O Jehovah. Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek your name, O LORD. Cover their faces with shame, LORD, so that they will seek your name.
They shall be ashamed and terrified, even to forever; and they shall be put to shame and perish. Let them be put to shame and dismayed forever; let them perish in disgrace, May they ever be ashamed and dismayed; may they perish in disgrace.
And they shall know that thou, thy name Jehovah alone, the Most High over all the earth. that they may know that you alone, whose name is the LORD, are the Most High over all the earth. Let them know that you, whose name is the LORD— that you alone are the Most High over all the earth.
