A song. A Psalm of Asaph. O God, keep no silence to You; do not be silent, and do not be still, O God. O God, do not keep silence; do not hold your peace or be still, O God! A song. A psalm of Asaph. O God, do not remain silent; do not turn a deaf ear, do not stand aloof, O God.
For behold, Your enemies roar, and those hating You have lifted up the head. For behold, your enemies make an uproar; those who hate you have raised their heads. See how your enemies growl, how your foes rear their heads.
Against Your people, they act with cunning counsel, and they take counsel together against Your treasured ones. They lay crafty plans against your people; they consult together against your treasured ones. With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish.
They say, “Come, and we shall make them disappear as a nation, and the name of Israel will not be remembered anymore.” They say, “Come, let us wipe them out as a nation; let the name of Israel be remembered no more!” “Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation, so that Israel’s name is remembered no more.”
For, they consulted together in heart; they cut an alliance against You— For they conspire with one accord; against you they make a covenant— With one mind they plot together; they form an alliance against you—
the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites, the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites, the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, of Moab and the Hagrites,
Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek, Philistia with those dwelling in Tyre. Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre; Byblos, Ammon and Amalek, Philistia, with the people of Tyre.
Assyria also has joined with them; they have become an arm for the sons of Lot. Selah Asshur also has joined them; they are the strong arm of the children of Lot. Selah Even Assyria has joined them to reinforce Lot’s descendants.
may You do to them as to Midian, as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the River Kishon. Do to them as you did to Midian, as to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon, Do to them as you did to Midian, as you did to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon,
They perished at Endor; they became dung for the earth! who were destroyed at En-dor, who became dung for the ground. who perished at Endor and became like dung on the ground.
Make their nobles like Oreb and like Zeeb, and like Zebah, and like Zalmunna—all their princes— Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna, Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,
who said, “Let us possess for ourselves the pastures of God.” who said, “Let us take possession for ourselves of the pastures of God.” who said, “Let us take possession of the pasturelands of God.”
O my God, set them like the whirling dust, like chaff before the face of the wind! O my God, make them like whirling dust, like chaff before the wind. Make them like tumbleweed, my God, like chaff before the wind.
As the fire burns a forest, and as the flame sets the mountains on fire, As fire consumes the forest, as the flame sets the mountains ablaze, As fire consumes the forest or a flame sets the mountains ablaze,
so may You pursue them with Your tempest and terrify them with Your storm. so may you pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your hurricane! so pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your storm.
Fill their faces with shame, and they shall seek Your name, O YHWH. Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek your name, O LORD. Cover their faces with shame, LORD, so that they will seek your name.
Let them be put to shame and dismayed until forever, and may they be ashamed and perish! Let them be put to shame and dismayed forever; let them perish in disgrace, May they ever be ashamed and dismayed; may they perish in disgrace.
And they shall know that You—Your name is YHWH—You alone are Most High over all the earth! that they may know that you alone, whose name is the LORD, are the Most High over all the earth. Let them know that you, whose name is the LORD— that you alone are the Most High over all the earth.
