1 Of David. Do not be agitated by evildoers; do not envy those who do wrong. Fret not yourself because of evildoers; be not envious of wrongdoers! Of David. Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong;
2 For they wither quickly like grass and wilt like tender green plants. For they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb. for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.
3 Trust in the LORD and do what is good; dwell in the land and live securely. Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4 Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart’s desires. Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act, Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this:
6 making your righteousness shine like the dawn, your justice like the noonday. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.
7 Be silent before the LORD and wait expectantly for him; do not be agitated by one who prospers in his way, by the person who carries out evil plans. Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices! Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.
8 Refrain from anger and give up your rage; do not be agitated—it can only bring harm. Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil.
9 For evildoers will be destroyed, but those who put their hope in the LORD will inherit the land. For the evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the LORD shall inherit the land. For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.
10 A little while, and the wicked person will be no more; though you look for him, he will not be there. In just a little while, the wicked will be no more; though you look carefully at his place, he will not be there. A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found.
11 But the humble will inherit the land and will enjoy abundant prosperity. But the meek shall inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace. But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity.

18 The LORD watches over the blameless all their days, and their inheritance will last forever. The LORD knows the days of the blameless, and their heritage will remain forever; The blameless spend their days under the LORD’s care, and their inheritance will endure forever.
19 They will not be disgraced in times of adversity; they will be satisfied in days of hunger. they are not put to shame in evil times; in the days of famine they have abundance. In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty.
20 But the wicked will perish; the LORD’s enemies, like the glory of the pastures, will fade away — they will fade away like smoke. But the wicked will perish; the enemies of the LORD are like the glory of the pastures; they vanish—like smoke they vanish away. But the wicked will perish: Though the LORD’s enemies are like the flowers of the field, they will be consumed, they will go up in smoke.
21 The wicked person borrows and does not repay, but the righteous one is gracious and giving. The wicked borrows but does not pay back, but the righteous is generous and gives; The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously;
22 Those who are blessed by the LORD will inherit the land, but those cursed by him will be destroyed. for those blessed by the LORD shall inherit the land, but those cursed by him shall be cut off. those the LORD blesses will inherit the land, but those he curses will be destroyed.
23 A person’s steps are established by the LORD, and he takes pleasure in his way. The steps of a man are established by the LORD, when he delights in his way; The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him;
24 Though he falls, he will not be overwhelmed, because the LORD supports him with his hand. though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the LORD upholds his hand. though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.
25 I have been young and now I am old, yet I have not seen the righteous abandoned or his children begging for bread. I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging for bread. I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.
26 He is always generous, always lending, and his children are a blessing. He is ever lending generously, and his children become a blessing. They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be a blessing.
27 Turn away from evil, do what is good, and settle permanently. Turn away from evil and do good; so shall you dwell forever. Turn from evil and do good; then you will dwell in the land forever.
28 For the LORD loves justice and will not abandon his faithful ones. They are kept safe forever, but the children of the wicked will be destroyed. For the LORD loves justice; he will not forsake his saints. They are preserved forever, but the children of the wicked shall be cut off. For the LORD loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed; the offspring of the wicked will perish.

34 Wait for the LORD and keep his way, and he will exalt you to inherit the land. You will watch when the wicked are destroyed. 35 I have seen a wicked, violent person well-rooted, like a flourishing native tree. I have seen a wicked, ruthless man, spreading himself like a green laurel tree. I have seen a wicked and ruthless man flourishing like a luxuriant native tree,
36 Then I passed by and noticed he was gone; I searched for him, but he could not be found. But he passed away, and behold, he was no more; though I sought him, he could not be found. but he soon passed away and was no more; though I looked for him, he could not be found.
37 Watch the blameless and observe the upright, for the person of peace will have a future. Mark the blameless and behold the upright, for there is a future for the man of peace. Consider the blameless, observe the upright; a future awaits those who seek peace.
38 But transgressors will all be eliminated; the future of the wicked will be destroyed. But transgressors shall be altogether destroyed; the future of the wicked shall be cut off. But all sinners will be destroyed; there will be no future for the wicked.
39 The salvation of the righteous is from the LORD, their refuge in a time of distress. The salvation of the righteous is from the LORD; he is their stronghold in the time of trouble. The salvation of the righteous comes from the LORD; he is their stronghold in time of trouble.
40 The LORD helps and delivers them; he will deliver them from the wicked and will save them because they take refuge in him.
