A Psalm; a Song at the Dedication of the House; of David. I will extol thee, O LORD, for Thou hast raised me up, And hast not suffered mine enemies to rejoice over me. I will extol you, O LORD, for you have drawn me up and have not let my foes rejoice over me. A psalm. A song. For the dedication of the temple. Of David. I will exalt you, LORD, for you lifted me out of the depths and did not let my enemies gloat over me.
O LORD my God, I cried unto Thee, and Thou didst heal me; O LORD my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me. LORD my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me.
O LORD, Thou broughtest up my soul from the nether-world; Thou didst kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. O LORD, you have brought up my soul from Sheol; you restored me to life from among those who go down to the pit. You, LORD, brought me up from the realm of the dead; you spared me from going down to the pit.
Sing praise unto the LORD, O ye His godly ones, And give thanks to His holy name. Sing praises to the LORD, O you his saints, and give thanks to his holy name. Sing the praises of the LORD, you his faithful people; praise his holy name.
For His anger is but for a moment, His favour is for a life-time; Weeping may tarry for the night, But joy cometh in the morning. For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning. For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.
Now I had said in my security: 'I shall never be moved.' As for me, I said in my prosperity, “I shall never be moved.” When I felt secure, I said, “I will never be shaken.”
Thou hadst established, O LORD, in Thy favour my mountain as a stronghold-- Thou didst hide Thy face; I was affrighted. By your favor, O LORD, you made my mountain stand strong; you hid your face; I was dismayed. LORD, when you favored me, you made my royal mountain stand firm; but when you hid your face, I was dismayed.
Unto Thee, O LORD, did I call, And unto the LORD I made supplication: To you, O LORD, I cry, and to the Lord I plead for mercy: To you, LORD, I called; to the Lord I cried for mercy:
What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise Thee? Shall it declare Thy truth? “What profit is there in my death, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it tell of your faithfulness? “What is gained if I am silenced, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it proclaim your faithfulness?
Hear, O LORD, and be gracious unto me; LORD, be Thou my helper.' Hear, O LORD, and be merciful to me! O LORD, be my helper!” Hear, LORD, and be merciful to me; LORD, be my help.”
Thou didst turn for me my mourning into dancing; Thou didst loose my sackcloth, and gird me with gladness; You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
So that my glory may sing praise to Thee, and not be silent; O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto Thee for ever. that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to you forever! that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. LORD my God, I will praise you forever.
