1 of David. Unto You, O YHWH, I lift up my soul. To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul. Of David. In you, LORD my God, I put my trust.
2 My God, in You I trust. Do not let me be put to shame; do not let my enemies rejoice over me. O my God, in you I trust; let me not be put to shame; let not my enemies exult over me. I trust in you; do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me.
3 Indeed, all those waiting on You will not be put to shame; those who act treacherously without cause will be ashamed. Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame; they shall be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous. No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those who are treacherous without cause.
4 May You show me Your ways, O YHWH; may You teach me Your paths. Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. Show me your ways, LORD, teach me your paths.
5 Make me to walk in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; on You I wait all the day. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.
6 Remember Your mercies, O YHWH, and Your loving devotion, for they are from of old. Remember your mercy, O LORD, and your steadfast love, for they have been from of old. Remember, LORD, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old.
7 May You not remember the sins of my youth, and my transgressions; according to Your loving devotion, may You remember me, for the sake of Your goodness, O YHWH. Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions; according to your steadfast love remember me, for the sake of your goodness, O LORD! Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you, LORD, are good.
8 Good and upright is YHWH; upon thus, He directs sinful ones in the way. Good and upright is the LORD; therefore he instructs sinners in the way. Good and upright is the LORD; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.
9 He guides the humble ones in justice, and He teaches the humble ones His way. He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way. He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.
10 All the paths of YHWH are loving devotion and truth, to those keeping His covenant and His decrees. All the paths of the LORD are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies. All the ways of the LORD are loving and faithful toward those who keep the demands of his covenant.
11 And for the sake of Your name, O YHWH, may You pardon my iniquity, though it is great. For your name’s sake, O LORD, pardon my guilt, for it is great. For the sake of your name, LORD, forgive my iniquity, though it is great.
12 Who is this man, the one fearing YHWH? He will direct him in the way he must choose. Who is the man who fears the LORD? Him will he instruct in the way that he should choose. Who, then, are those who fear the LORD? He will instruct them in the ways they should choose.
13 His soul shall dwell in goodness, and his seed shall possess the land. His soul shall abide in well-being, and his offspring shall inherit the land. They will spend their days in prosperity, and their descendants will inherit the land.
14 The counsel of YHWH is with those fearing Him, and He makes known to them His covenant. The friendship of the LORD is for those who fear him, and he makes known to them his covenant. The LORD confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them.
15 My eyes are continually toward YHWH, for He brings out my feet from a net. My eyes are ever toward the LORD, for he will pluck my feet out of the net. My eyes are ever on the LORD, for only he will release my feet from the snare.
16 May You turn to me and show favor to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted.
17 The troubles of my heart have enlarged; may You bring me out from my distress. The troubles of my heart are enlarged; bring me out of my distresses. Relieve the troubles of my heart and free me from my anguish.
18 Look on my affliction and my trouble, and lift all my sins. Consider my affliction and my trouble, and forgive all my sins. Look on my affliction and my distress and take away all my sins.
19 See my enemies!—For they are many, and with violent hatred they hate me. Consider how many are my foes, and with what violent hatred they hate me. See how numerous are my enemies and how fiercely they hate me!
20 Guard my soul and deliver me; let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in You. Oh, guard my soul, and deliver me! Let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in you. Guard my life and rescue me; do not let me be put to shame, for I take refuge in you.
21 May integrity and uprightness keep me, for I wait for You. May integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for you. May integrity and uprightness protect me, because my hope, LORD, is in you.
22 May You redeem Israel, O God, from all his distress. Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles. Deliver Israel, O God, from all their troubles!
