In my trouble I cried to the Lord: and he heard me. In my distress I called to the LORD, and he answered me. A song of ascents. I call on the LORD in my distress, and he answers me.
O Lord, deliver my soul from wicked lips, and a deceitful tongue. Deliver me, O LORD, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue. Save me, LORD, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues.
What shall be given to thee, or what shall be added to thee, to a deceitful tongue. What shall be given to you, and what more shall be done to you, you deceitful tongue? What will he do to you, and what more besides, you deceitful tongue?
The sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals that lay waste. A warrior’s sharp arrows, with glowing coals of the broom tree! He will punish you with a warrior’s sharp arrows, with burning coals of the broom bush.
Woe is me, that my sojourning is prolonged! I have dwelt with the inhabitants of cedar: Woe to me, that I sojourn in Meshech, that I dwell among the tents of Kedar! Woe to me that I dwell in Meshek, that I live among the tents of Kedar!
my soul hath been long a sojourner. Too long have I had my dwelling among those who hate peace. Too long have I lived among those who hate peace.
With them that hate peace I was peaceable: when I spoke to them they fought against me without cause. I am for peace, but when I speak, they are for war! I am for peace; but when I speak, they are for war.
