| 35 | γρηγορεῖτε οὖν οὐκ οἴδατε γὰρ πότε ὁ κύριος τῆς οἰκίας ἔρχεται ἢ ὀψὲ ἢ μεσονύκτιον ἢ ἀλεκτοροφωνίας ἢ πρωΐ | Therefore stay awake—for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning— | “Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. | |
| 36 | μὴ ἐλθὼν ἐξαίφνης εὕρῃ ὑμᾶς καθεύδοντας | lest he come suddenly and find you asleep. | If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. | |
| 37 | ὃ δὲ ὑμῖν λέγω πᾶσιν λέγω γρηγορεῖτε | And what I say to you I say to all: Stay awake.” | What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’” | |
