18 Οὐ περὶ πάντων ὑμῶν λέγω ἐγὼ οἶδα τίνας ἐξελεξάμην ἀλλ’ ἵνα γραφὴ πληρωθῇ τρώγων μου τὸν ἄρτον ἐπῆρεν ἐπ’ ἐμὲ τὴν πτέρναν αὐτοῦ I am not speaking of all of you; I know whom I have chosen. But the Scripture will be fulfilled, ‘He who ate my bread has lifted his heel against me.’ “I am not referring to all of you; I know those I have chosen. But this is to fulfill this passage of Scripture: ‘He who shared my bread has turned against me.’
19 ἀπ’ ἄρτι λέγω ὑμῖν πρὸ τοῦ γενέσθαι ἵνα πιστεύσητε* ὅταν γένηται ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι I am telling you this now, before it takes place, that when it does take place you may believe that I am he. “I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe that I am who I am.
20 ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν λαμβάνων ἄν τινα πέμψω ἐμὲ λαμβάνει δὲ ἐμὲ λαμβάνων λαμβάνει τὸν πέμψαντά με Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.” Very truly I tell you, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me.”
21 Ταῦτα εἰπὼν ‹ὁ› Ἰησοῦς ἐταράχθη τῷ πνεύματι καὶ ἐμαρτύρησεν καὶ εἶπεν Ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι εἷς ἐξ ὑμῶν παραδώσει με After saying these things, Jesus was troubled in his spirit, and testified, “Truly, truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me.” After he had said this, Jesus was troubled in spirit and testified, “Very truly I tell you, one of you is going to betray me.”
