1 After this opened Job his mouth, and cursed his day. After this Job opened his mouth and cursed the day of his birth. After this, Job opened his mouth and cursed the day of his birth.
2 And Job answered and said: And Job said: He said:
3 Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night which said, There is a man child conceived. “Let the day perish on which I was born, and the night that said, ‘A man is conceived.’ “May the day of my birth perish, and the night that said, ‘A boy is conceived!’
4 Let that day be darkness; let not God regard it from above, neither let the light shine upon it. Let that day be darkness! May God above not seek it, nor light shine upon it. That day—may it turn to darkness; may God above not care about it; may no light shine on it.
5 Let darkness and the shadow of death claim it for their own; let a cloud dwell upon it; let all that maketh black the day terrify it. Let gloom and deep darkness claim it. Let clouds dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it. May gloom and utter darkness claim it once more; may a cloud settle over it; may blackness overwhelm it.
6 As for that night, let thick darkness seize upon it: let it not rejoice among the days of the year; let it not come into the number of the months. That night—let thick darkness seize it! 12 Why did the knees receive me? or why the breasts, that I should suck? Why did the knees receive me? Or why the breasts, that I should nurse? Why were there knees to receive me and breasts that I might be nursed?
13 For now should I have lain down and been quiet; I should have slept; then had I been at rest: For then I would have lain down and been quiet; I would have slept; then I would have been at rest, For now I would be lying down in peace; I would be asleep and at rest
14 With kings and counsellors of the earth, which built up waste places for themselves; with kings and counselors of the earth who rebuilt ruins for themselves, with kings and rulers of the earth, who built for themselves places now lying in ruins,

24 For my sighing cometh before I eat, and my roarings are poured out like water. For my sighing comes instead of my bread, and my groanings are poured out like water. For sighing has become my daily food; my groans pour out like water.
25 For the thing which I fear cometh upon me, and that which I am afraid of cometh unto me. For the thing that I fear comes upon me, and what I dread befalls me. What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me.
26 I am not at ease, neither am I quiet, neither have I rest; but trouble cometh. I am not at ease, nor am I quiet; I have no rest, but trouble comes.” I have no peace, no quietness; I have no rest, but only turmoil.”
