1 Here is the message about Judah and Jerusalem that was revealed to Isaiah son of Amoz. The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. This is what Isaiah son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem:
2 In the future the mountain of the LORD's temple will endure as the most important of mountains, and will be the most prominent of hills. All the nations will stream to it, It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be lifted up above the hills; and all the nations shall flow to it, In the last days the mountain of the LORD’s temple will be established as the highest of the mountains; it will be exalted above the hills, and all nations will stream to it.
3 many peoples will come and say, |Come, let us go up to the LORD's mountain, to the temple of the God of Jacob, so he can teach us his requirements, and we can follow his standards.| For Zion will be the center for moral instruction; the LORD will issue edicts from Jerusalem. and many peoples shall come, and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. Many peoples will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the temple of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.” The law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
4 He will judge disputes between nations; he will settle cases for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks. Nations will not take up the sword against other nations, and they will no longer train for war. He shall judge between the nations, and shall decide disputes for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore. He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.
5 O descendants of Jacob, come, let us walk in the LORD's guiding light. O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the LORD. Come, descendants of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the LORD.
6 Indeed, O LORD, you have abandoned your people, the descendants of Jacob. For diviners from the east are everywhere; they consult omen readers like the Philistines do. Plenty of foreigners are around. For you have rejected your people, the house of Jacob, because they are full of things from the east and of fortune-tellers like the Philistines, and they strike hands with the children of foreigners. You, LORD, have abandoned your people, the descendants of Jacob. They are full of superstitions from the East; they practice divination like the Philistines and embrace pagan customs.
7 Their land is full of gold and silver; there is no end to their wealth. Their land is full of horses; there is no end to their chariots. Their land is filled with silver and gold, and there is no end to their treasures; their land is filled with horses, and there is no end to their chariots. Their land is full of silver and gold; there is no end to their treasures. Their land is full of horses; there is no end to their chariots.
8 Their land is full of worthless idols; they worship the product of their own hands, what their own fingers have fashioned. Their land is filled with idols; they bow down to the work of their hands, to what their own fingers have made. 9 Men bow down to them in homage, they lie flat on the ground in worship. Don't spare them! So man is humbled, and each one is brought low— do not forgive them! So people will be brought low and everyone humbled— do not forgive them.
10 Go up into the rocky cliffs, hide in the ground. Get away from the dreadful judgment of the LORD, from his royal splendor! Enter into the rock and hide in the dust from before the terror of the LORD, and from the splendor of his majesty. Go into the rocks, hide in the ground from the fearful presence of the LORD and the splendor of his majesty!
11 Proud men will be brought low, arrogant men will be humiliated; the LORD alone will be exalted in that day. The haughty looks of man shall be brought low, and the lofty pride of men shall be humbled, and the LORD alone will be exalted in that day. The eyes of the arrogant will be humbled and human pride brought low; the LORD alone will be exalted in that day.
12 Indeed, the LORD who commands armies has planned a day of judgment, for all the high and mighty, for all who are proud--they will be humiliated; For the LORD of hosts has a day against all that is proud and lofty, against all that is lifted up—and it shall be brought low; The LORD Almighty has a day in store for all the proud and lofty, for all that is exalted (and they will be humbled),
13 for all the cedars of Lebanon, that are so high and mighty, for all the oaks of Bashan; against all the cedars of Lebanon, lofty and lifted up; and against all the oaks of Bashan; for all the cedars of Lebanon, tall and lofty, and all the oaks of Bashan,
14 for all the tall mountains, for all the high hills, against all the lofty mountains, and against all the uplifted hills; for all the towering mountains and all the high hills,
15 for every high tower, for every fortified wall, against every high tower, and against every fortified wall; for every lofty tower and every fortified wall,
16 for all the large ships, for all the impressive ships. against all the ships of Tarshish, and against all the beautiful craft. for every trading ship and every stately vessel.
17 Proud men will be humiliated, arrogant men will be brought low; the LORD alone will be exalted in that day. And the haughtiness of man shall be humbled, and the lofty pride of men shall be brought low, and the LORD alone will be exalted in that day. The arrogance of man will be brought low and human pride humbled; the LORD alone will be exalted in that day,
18 The worthless idols will be completely eliminated. And the idols shall utterly pass away. and the idols will totally disappear.
19 They will go into caves in the rocky cliffs and into holes in the ground, trying to escape the dreadful judgment of the LORD and his royal splendor, when he rises up to terrify the earth. And people shall enter the caves of the rocks and the holes of the ground, from before the terror of the LORD, and from the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to terrify the earth. People will flee to caves in the rocks and to holes in the ground from the fearful presence of the LORD and the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to shake the earth.
20 At that time men will throw their silver and gold idols, which they made for themselves to worship, into the caves where rodents and bats live, In that day mankind will cast away their idols of silver and their idols of gold, which they made for themselves to worship, to the moles and to the bats, In that day people will throw away to the moles and bats their idols of silver and idols of gold, which they made to worship.
21 so they themselves can go into the crevices of the rocky cliffs and the openings under the rocky overhangs, trying to escape the dreadful judgment of the LORD and his royal splendor, when he rises up to terrify the earth. to enter the caverns of the rocks and the clefts of the cliffs, from before the terror of the LORD, and from the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to terrify the earth. They will flee to caverns in the rocks and to the overhanging crags from the fearful presence of the LORD and the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to shake the earth.
22 Stop trusting in human beings, whose life's breath is in their nostrils. For why should they be given special consideration? Stop regarding man in whose nostrils is breath, for of what account is he? Stop trusting in mere humans, who have but a breath in their nostrils. Why hold them in esteem?
