1 The worde that Isaiah the sonne of Amoz sawe vpon Iudah and Ierusalem. The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. This is what Isaiah son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem:
2 It shall be in the last dayes, that the mountaine of the house of the Lorde shalbe prepared in the top of the mountaines, and shall be exalted aboue the hilles, and all nations shall flowe vnto it. It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be lifted up above the hills; and all the nations shall flow to it, In the last days the mountain of the LORD’s temple will be established as the highest of the mountains; it will be exalted above the hills, and all nations will stream to it.
3 And many people shall go, and say, Come, and let vs go vp to the mountaine of the Lord, to the house of the God of Iaakob, and hee will teach vs his wayes, and we will walke in his paths: for the Lawe shall go foorth of Zion, and the worde of the Lord from Ierusalem, and many peoples shall come, and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. Many peoples will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the temple of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.” The law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
4 And he shall iudge among the nations, and rebuke many people: they shall breake their swords also into mattocks, and their speares into siethes: nation shall not lift vp a sworde against nation, neither shal they learne to fight any more. He shall judge between the nations, and shall decide disputes for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore. He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.
5 O house of Iaakob, come ye, and let vs walke in the Lawe of the Lord. O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the LORD. Come, descendants of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the LORD.
6 Surely thou hast forsaken thy people, the house of Iaakob, because they are full of the East maners, and are sorcerers as the Philistims, and abound with strange children. For you have rejected your people, the house of Jacob, because they are full of things from the east and of fortune-tellers like the Philistines, and they strike hands with the children of foreigners. You, LORD, have abandoned your people, the descendants of Jacob. They are full of superstitions from the East; they practice divination like the Philistines and embrace pagan customs.
7 Their land also was full of siluer & golde, and there was none ende of their treasures: and their land was full of horses, and their charets were infinite. Their land is filled with silver and gold, and there is no end to their treasures; their land is filled with horses, and there is no end to their chariots. Their land is full of silver and gold; there is no end to their treasures. Their land is full of horses; there is no end to their chariots.
8 Their land also was full of idols: they worshipped the worke of their owne hands, which their owne fingers haue made. Their land is filled with idols; they bow down to the work of their hands, to what their own fingers have made. 9 And a man bowed himselfe, and a man humbled himselfe: therefore spare them not. So man is humbled, and each one is brought low— do not forgive them! So people will be brought low and everyone humbled— do not forgive them.
10 Enter into the rocke, and hide thee in the dust from before the feare of the Lord, and from the glory of his maiestie. Enter into the rock and hide in the dust from before the terror of the LORD, and from the splendor of his majesty. Go into the rocks, hide in the ground from the fearful presence of the LORD and the splendor of his majesty!
11 The hie looke of man shall be humbled, and the loftinesse of men shalbe abased, and the Lord onely shall be exalted in that day. The haughty looks of man shall be brought low, and the lofty pride of men shall be humbled, and the LORD alone will be exalted in that day. The eyes of the arrogant will be humbled and human pride brought low; the LORD alone will be exalted in that day.
12 For the day of the Lorde of hostes is vpon all the proude and hautie, and vpon all that is exalted: and it shalbe made lowe. For the LORD of hosts has a day against all that is proud and lofty, against all that is lifted up—and it shall be brought low; The LORD Almighty has a day in store for all the proud and lofty, for all that is exalted (and they will be humbled),
13 Euen vpon all the cedars of Lebanon, that are hie & exalted, & vpon all the okes of Bashan, against all the cedars of Lebanon, lofty and lifted up; and against all the oaks of Bashan; for all the cedars of Lebanon, tall and lofty, and all the oaks of Bashan,
14 And vpon all the hie mountaines, and vpon all the hilles that are lifted vp, against all the lofty mountains, and against all the uplifted hills; for all the towering mountains and all the high hills,
15 And vpon euery hie tower, and vpon euery strong wall, against every high tower, and against every fortified wall; for every lofty tower and every fortified wall,
16 And vpon all the shippes of Tarshish, and vpon all pleasant pictures. against all the ships of Tarshish, and against all the beautiful craft. for every trading ship and every stately vessel.
17 And the hautinesse of men shalbe brought low, and the loftinesse of men shalbe abased, and the Lord shall onely be exalted in that day. And the haughtiness of man shall be humbled, and the lofty pride of men shall be brought low, and the LORD alone will be exalted in that day. The arrogance of man will be brought low and human pride humbled; the LORD alone will be exalted in that day,
18 And the idoles will he vtterly destroy. And the idols shall utterly pass away. and the idols will totally disappear.
19 Then they shall goe into the holes of the rockes, & into the caues of the earth, from before the feare of the Lorde, and from the glory of his maiestie, when he shall arise to destroy the earth. And people shall enter the caves of the rocks and the holes of the ground, from before the terror of the LORD, and from the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to terrify the earth. People will flee to caves in the rocks and to holes in the ground from the fearful presence of the LORD and the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to shake the earth.
20 At that day shall man cast away his siluer idoles, & his golden idoles (which they had made themselues to worship them) to the mowles and to the backes, In that day mankind will cast away their idols of silver and their idols of gold, which they made for themselves to worship, to the moles and to the bats, In that day people will throw away to the moles and bats their idols of silver and idols of gold, which they made to worship.
21 To goe into the holes of the rockes, and into the toppes of the ragged rockes from before the feare of the Lorde, and from the glory of his maiestie, when he shall rise to destroy the earth. to enter the caverns of the rocks and the clefts of the cliffs, from before the terror of the LORD, and from the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to terrify the earth. They will flee to caverns in the rocks and to the overhanging crags from the fearful presence of the LORD and the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to shake the earth.
22 Cease you from the man whose breath is in his nostrels: for wherein is he to be esteemed? Stop regarding man in whose nostrils is breath, for of what account is he? Stop trusting in mere humans, who have but a breath in their nostrils. Why hold them in esteem?
