and by the border of Judah, from the east side to the west side is the raised-offering that you lift up, twenty-five thousand [cubits] broad and long, as one of the parts, from the east side to the west side: and the sanctuary has been in its midst. | “Adjoining the territory of Judah, from the east side to the west, shall be the portion which you shall set apart, 25,000 cubits in breadth, and in length equal to one of the tribal portions, from the east side to the west, with the sanctuary in the midst of it. | “Bordering the territory of Judah from east to west will be the portion you are to present as a special gift. It will be 25,000 cubits wide, and its length from east to west will equal one of the tribal portions; the sanctuary will be in the center of it. |
The raised-offering that you lift up to YHWH [is] twenty-five thousand long and ten thousand broad. | The portion that you shall set apart for the LORD shall be 25,000 cubits in length, and 20,000 in breadth. | “The special portion you are to offer to the LORD will be 25,000 cubits long and 10,000 cubits wide. |
And of these is the holy raised-offering for the priests, northward twenty-five thousand, and westward ten thousand [in] breadth, and eastward ten thousand [in] breadth, and southward twenty-five thousand [in] length: and the sanctuary of YHWH has been in its midst. | These shall be the allotments of the holy portion: the priests shall have an allotment measuring 25,000 cubits on the northern side, 10,000 cubits in breadth on the western side, 10,000 in breadth on the eastern side, and 25,000 in length on the southern side, with the sanctuary of the LORD in the midst of it. | This will be the sacred portion for the priests. It will be 25,000 cubits long on the north side, 10,000 cubits wide on the west side, 10,000 cubits wide on the east side and 25,000 cubits long on the south side. In the center of it will be the sanctuary of the LORD. |
For the priests who are sanctified of the sons of Zadok, who have kept My charge, who did not err in the erring of the sons of Israel, as the Levites erred, | This shall be for the consecrated priests, the sons of Zadok, who kept my charge, who did not go astray when the people of Israel went astray, as the Levites did. | This will be for the consecrated priests, the Zadokites, who were faithful in serving me and did not go astray as the Levites did when the Israelites went astray. |
even the raised-offering has been for them, out of the raised-offering of the land, most holy, by the border of the Levites. | And it shall belong to them as a special portion from the holy portion of the land, a most holy place, adjoining the territory of the Levites. | It will be a special gift to them from the sacred portion of the land, a most holy portion, bordering the territory of the Levites. |
And [to] the Levites alongside the border of the priests [are] twenty-five thousand [in] length, and ten thousand [in] breadth, all the length [is] twenty-five thousand, and the breadth ten thousand. | And alongside the territory of the priests, the Levites shall have an allotment 25,000 cubits in length and 10,000 in breadth. The whole length shall be 25,000 cubits and the breadth 20,000. | “Alongside the territory of the priests, the Levites will have an allotment 25,000 cubits long and 10,000 cubits wide. Its total length will be 25,000 cubits and its width 10,000 cubits. |
And they do not sell of it, nor exchange, nor cause the first-fruit of the land to pass away: for [it is] holy to YHWH. | They shall not sell or exchange any of it. They shall not alienate this choice portion of the land, for it is holy to the LORD. | They must not sell or exchange any of it. This is the best of the land and must not pass into other hands, because it is holy to the LORD. |
And the five thousand that is left in the breadth, on the front of the twenty-five thousand, is common—for the city, for dwelling, and for outskirt, and the city has been in its midst. | “The remainder, 5,000 cubits in breadth and 25,000 in length, shall be for common use for the city, for dwellings and for open country. In the midst of it shall be the city, | “The remaining area, 5,000 cubits wide and 25,000 cubits long, will be for the common use of the city, for houses and for pastureland. The city will be in the center of it |
And these [are] its measurements: the north side—four thousand and five hundred, and the south side—four thousand and five hundred, and on the east side—four thousand and five hundred, and the west side—four thousand and five hundred. | and these shall be its measurements: the north side 4,500 cubits, the south side 4,500, the east side 4,500, and the west side 4,500. | and will have these measurements: the north side 4,500 cubits, the south side 4,500 cubits, the east side 4,500 cubits, and the west side 4,500 cubits. |
And the outskirt of the city has been northward—two hundred and fifty, and southward—two hundred and fifty, and eastward—two hundred and fifty, and westward—two hundred and fifty. | And the city shall have open land: on the north 250 cubits, on the south 250, on the east 250, and on the west 250. | The pastureland for the city will be 250 cubits on the north, 250 cubits on the south, 250 cubits on the east, and 250 cubits on the west. |
And the remainder in length alongside the raised-offering of the holy [portion is] ten thousand eastward, and ten thousand westward, and it has been alongside the raised-offering of the holy [portion], and its increase has been for food for those serving the city, | The remainder of the length alongside the holy portion shall be 10,000 cubits to the east, and 10,000 to the west, and it shall be alongside the holy portion. Its produce shall be food for the workers of the city. | What remains of the area, bordering on the sacred portion and running the length of it, will be 10,000 cubits on the east side and 10,000 cubits on the west side. Its produce will supply food for the workers of the city. |
even [to] him who is serving the city, they serve it out of all the tribes of Israel. | And the workers of the city, from all the tribes of Israel, shall till it. | The workers from the city who farm it will come from all the tribes of Israel. |
All the raised-offering [is] twenty-five thousand by twenty-five thousand square—you lift up the raised-offering of the holy [portion] with the possession of the city. | The whole portion that you shall set apart shall be 25,000 cubits square, that is, the holy portion together with the property of the city. | The entire portion will be a square, 25,000 cubits on each side. As a special gift you will set aside the sacred portion, along with the property of the city. |
And the remainder [is] for the prince, on this side and on that side of the raised-offering of the holy [portion], and of the possession of the city, on the front of the twenty-five thousand of the raised-offering to the east border, and westward, on the front of the twenty-five thousand on the west border, alongside the portions of the prince; and the raised-offering of the holy [portion], and the sanctuary of the house, has been in its midst. | “What remains on both sides of the holy portion and of the property of the city shall belong to the prince. Extending from the 25,000 cubits of the holy portion to the east border, and westward from the 25,000 cubits to the west border, parallel to the tribal portions, it shall belong to the prince. The holy portion with the sanctuary of the temple shall be in its midst. | “What remains on both sides of the area formed by the sacred portion and the property of the city will belong to the prince. It will extend eastward from the 25,000 cubits of the sacred portion to the eastern border, and westward from the 25,000 cubits to the western border. Both these areas running the length of the tribal portions will belong to the prince, and the sacred portion with the temple sanctuary will be in the center of them. |
And from the possession of the Levites, from the possession of the city, in the midst of that which is for the prince, between the border of Judah and the border of Benjamin, there is for the prince. | It shall be separate from the property of the Levites and the property of the city, which are in the midst of that which belongs to the prince. The portion of the prince shall lie between the territory of Judah and the territory of Benjamin. | So the property of the Levites and the property of the city will lie in the center of the area that belongs to the prince. The area belonging to the prince will lie between the border of Judah and the border of Benjamin. |
As for the rest of the tribes, from the east side to the west side, Benjamin, one [portion]; | “As for the rest of the tribes: from the east side to the west, Benjamin, one portion. | “As for the rest of the tribes: Benjamin will have one portion; it will extend from the east side to the west side. |
and by the border of Benjamin, from the east side to the west side, Simeon, one [portion]; | Adjoining the territory of Benjamin, from the east side to the west, Simeon, one portion. | “Simeon will have one portion; it will border the territory of Benjamin from east to west. |
and by the border of Simeon, from the east side to the west side, Issachar, one [portion]; | Adjoining the territory of Simeon, from the east side to the west, Issachar, one portion. | “Issachar will have one portion; it will border the territory of Simeon from east to west. |
and by the border of Issachar, from the east side to the west side, Zebulun, one [portion]; | Adjoining the territory of Issachar, from the east side to the west, Zebulun, one portion. | “Zebulun will have one portion; it will border the territory of Issachar from east to west. |
and by the border of Zebulun, from the east side to the west side, Gad, one [portion]; | Adjoining the territory of Zebulun, from the east side to the west, Gad, one portion. | “Gad will have one portion; it will border the territory of Zebulun from east to west. |
and by the border of Gad, at the south side southward, the border has been from Tamar [to] the waters of Meriboth-Kadesh, the stream by the Great Sea. | And adjoining the territory of Gad to the south, the boundary shall run from Tamar to the waters of Meribah-kadesh, from there along the Brook of Egypt to the Great Sea. | “The southern boundary of Gad will run south from Tamar to the waters of Meribah Kadesh, then along the Wadi of Egypt to the Mediterranean Sea. |
This [is] the land that you separate by inheritance to the tribes of Israel, and these [are] their divisions,” a declaration of Lord YHWH. | This is the land that you shall allot as an inheritance among the tribes of Israel, and these are their portions, declares the Lord GOD. | “This is the land you are to allot as an inheritance to the tribes of Israel, and these will be their portions,” declares the Sovereign LORD. |
“And these [are] the outgoings of the city: on the north side, four thousand and five hundred measures; | “These shall be the exits of the city: On the north side, which is to be 4,500 cubits by measure, | “These will be the exits of the city: Beginning on the north side, which is 4,500 cubits long, |
and the gates of the city [are] according to the names of the tribes of Israel; three gates northward—one gate of Reuben, one gate of Judah, one gate of Levi. | three gates, the gate of Reuben, the gate of Judah, and the gate of Levi, the gates of the city being named after the tribes of Israel. | the gates of the city will be named after the tribes of Israel. The three gates on the north side will be the gate of Reuben, the gate of Judah and the gate of Levi. |
And on the east side, four thousand and five hundred, and three gates—one gate of Joseph, one gate of Benjamin, one gate of Dan. | On the east side, which is to be 4,500 cubits, three gates, the gate of Joseph, the gate of Benjamin, and the gate of Dan. | “On the east side, which is 4,500 cubits long, will be three gates: the gate of Joseph, the gate of Benjamin and the gate of Dan. |
And the south side, four thousand and five hundred, and three gates—one gate of Simeon, one gate of Issachar, one gate of Zebulun. | On the south side, which is to be 4,500 cubits by measure, three gates, the gate of Simeon, the gate of Issachar, and the gate of Zebulun. | “On the south side, which measures 4,500 cubits, will be three gates: the gate of Simeon, the gate of Issachar and the gate of Zebulun. |
The west side, four thousand and five hundred, [with] their three gates—one gate of Gad, one gate of Asher, one gate of Naphtali. | On the west side, which is to be 4,500 cubits, three gates, the gate of Gad, the gate of Asher, and the gate of Naphtali. | “On the west side, which is 4,500 cubits long, will be three gates: the gate of Gad, the gate of Asher and the gate of Naphtali. |
[It is] eighteen thousand around, and the renown of the city [is] from the day YHWH [is] there.” | The circumference of the city shall be 18,000 cubits. And the name of the city from that time on shall be, The LORD Is There.” | “The distance all around will be 18,000 cubits. “And the name of the city from that time on will be: the Lord is there.” |
