1	Then some men came down from Judea and were teaching the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.	But some men came down from Judea and were teaching the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.”	And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, <i>and said</i>, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved. 2	And after engaging these men in sharp debate, Paul and Barnabas were appointed, along with some other believers, to go up to Jerusalem to see the apostles and elders about this question.	And after Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and debate with them, Paul and Barnabas and some of the others were appointed to go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and the elders about this question.	When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.	And after Paul and Barnabas had a heated argument and debate with them, <i>the brothers</i> determined that Paul and Barnabas and some others of them should go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and elders concerning this issue.	This brought Paul and Barnabas into sharp dispute and debate with them. So Paul and Barnabas were appointed, along with some other believers, to go up to Jerusalem to see the apostles and elders about this question.
3	Sent on their way by the church, they passed through Phoenicia and Samaria, recounting the conversion of the Gentiles and bringing great joy to all the brothers.	So, being sent on their way by the church, they passed through both Phoenicia and Samaria, describing in detail the conversion of the Gentiles, and brought great joy to all the brothers.	And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren. But some of the sect of the Pharisees who had believed stood up, saying, “It is necessary to circumcise them and to direct them to keep the Law of Moses.”	Then some of the believers who belonged to the party of the Pharisees stood up and said, “The Gentiles must be circumcised and required to keep the law of Moses.”

8	And God, who knows the heart, showed His approval by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as He did to us. Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?	Since this <i>is the</i> case, why are you putting God to the test by placing upon the neck of the disciples a yoke which neither our forefathers nor we have been able to bear?	Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of Gentiles a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors have been able to bear?
11	On the contrary, we believe it is through the grace of the Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.	But we believe that we will be saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, just as they will.”	But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.	But we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, in the same way as they also are.”	No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.”
12	The whole assembly fell silent as they listened to Barnabas and Paul describing the signs and wonders God had done among the Gentiles through them.	And all the assembly fell silent, and they listened to Barnabas and Paul as they related what signs and wonders God had done through them among the Gentiles.	Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them. 13	When they had finished speaking, James declared, “ Brothers, listen to me!	After they finished speaking, James replied, “Brothers, listen to me. 16	‘After this I will return and rebuild the fallen tent of David. 17	so that the remnant of men may seek the Lord, and all the Gentiles who are called by My name, says the Lord who does these things	that the remnant of mankind may seek the Lord, and all the Gentiles who are called by my name, says the Lord, who makes these things	That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.	SO THAT THE REST OF MANKIND MAY SEEK THE LORD, AND ALL THE GENTILES WHO ARE CALLED BY MY NAME,’	that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord, even all the Gentiles who bear my name, says the Lord, who does these things’ —
18	that have been known for ages.’	known from of old.’	Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.	SAYS THE LORD, WHO MAKES THESE THINGS known from long ago.	things known from long ago.
19	It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not cause trouble for the Gentiles who are turning to God. 20	Instead, we should write and tell them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals, and from blood.	but should write to them to abstain from the things polluted by idols, and from sexual immorality, and from what has been strangled, and from blood. For from ancient generations Moses has had in every city those who proclaim him, for he is read every Sabbath in the synagogues.”	For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.	For from ancient generations Moses has those who preach him in every city, since he is read in the synagogues every Sabbath.”	For the law of Moses has been preached in every city from the earliest times and is read in the synagogues on every Sabbath.”
22	Then the apostles and elders, with the whole church, decided to select men from among them to send to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They chose Judas called Barsabbas and Silas, two leaders among the brothers,	Then it seemed good to the apostles and the elders, with the whole church, to choose men from among them and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They sent Judas called Barsabbas, and Silas, leading men among the brothers,	Then pleased it the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; <i>namely</i>, Judas surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren:	Then it seemed good to the apostles and the elders, with the whole church, to choose men from among them to send to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas: Judas who was called Barsabbas, and Silas, leading men among the brothers,	Then the apostles and elders, with the whole church, decided to choose some of their own men and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. 23	and sent them with this letter: The apostles and the elders, your brothers, To the brothers among the Gentiles in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia: Greetings.	with the following letter: “The brothers, both the apostles and the elders, to the brothers who are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia, greetings.	And they wrote <i>letters</i> by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren <i>send</i> greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia:	and they sent this letter with them: “The apostles and the brothers who are elders, to the brothers <i>and sisters</i> in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia who are from the Gentiles: Greetings.	With them they sent the following letter: The apostles and elders, your brothers, To the Gentile believers in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia: Greetings.
24	It has come to our attention that some went out from us without our authorization and unsettled you, troubling your minds by what they said.	Since we have heard that some persons have gone out from us and troubled you with words, unsettling your minds, although we gave them no instructions,	Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, <i>Ye must</i> be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no <i>such</i> commandment:	Since we have heard that some of our number to whom we gave no instruction have confused you by <i>their</i> teaching, upsetting your souls,	We have heard that some went out from us without our authorization and disturbed you, troubling your minds by what they said.
25	So we all agreed to choose men to send to you along with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,	it has seemed good to us, having come to one accord, to choose men and send them to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,	It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,	it seemed good to us, having become of one mind, to select men to send to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,	So we all agreed to choose some men and send them to you with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul—
26	men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.	men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 28	It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond these essential requirements:	For it has seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay on you no greater burden than these requirements:	For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;	For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay upon you no greater burden than these essentials:	It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements:
29	You must abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals, and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things. Farewell.	that you abstain from what has been sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from what has been strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Farewell.”	That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.	that you abstain from things sacrificed to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from <i>acts of</i> sexual immorality; if you keep yourselves free from such things, you will do well. Farewell.”	You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things. Farewell.
30	So the men were sent off and went down to Antioch, where they assembled the congregation and delivered the letter. 34			Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still.
35	But Paul and Barnabas remained at Antioch, along with many others, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord.	But Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also. 36	Some time later Paul said to Barnabas, “ Let us go back and visit the brothers in every town where we proclaimed the word of the Lord, to see how they are doing.	And after some days Paul said to Barnabas, “Let us return and visit the brothers in every city where we proclaimed the word of the Lord, and see how they are.”	And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, <i>and see</i> how they do.	After some days Paul said to Barnabas, “Let’s return and visit the brothers <i>and sisters</i> in every city in which we proclaimed the word of the Lord, <i>and see</i> how they are.”	Some time later Paul said to Barnabas, “Let us go back and visit the believers in all the towns where we preached the word of the Lord and see how they are doing.”

39	Their disagreement was so sharp that they parted company. Barnabas took Mark and sailed for Cyprus,	And there arose a sharp disagreement, so that they separated from each other. Barnabas took Mark with him and sailed away to Cyprus,	And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;	Now it turned into such a sharp disagreement that they separated from one another, and Barnabas took Mark with him and sailed away to Cyprus. 40	but Paul chose Silas and left, commended by the brothers to the grace of the Lord.	but Paul chose Silas and departed, having been commended by the brothers to the grace of the Lord.
