1 I command you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at his appearing and his Kingdom: I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge:
2 preach the word; be urgent in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort with all patience and teaching. preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.
3 For the time will come when they will not listen to the sound doctrine, but having itching ears, will heap up for themselves teachers after their own lusts, For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.
4 and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn away to fables. and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.
5 But you be sober in all things, suffer hardship, do the work of an evangelist, and fulfill your ministry. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. 10 for Demas left me, having loved this present world, and went to Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia; and Titus to Dalmatia. For Demas, in love with this present world, has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica. 17 But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me, that through me the message might be fully proclaimed, and that all the Gentiles might hear. So I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
