1 And at the completion of all this, went out all Israel who were present to the cities of Judah, and they broke in pieces the sacred pillars, and cut down the Asherah poles, and threw down the high places and the altars from all Judah and Benjamin, and Ephraim and Manasseh, even to completion, and all the sons of Israel returned, each man to his possession, to their cities. Now when all this was finished, all Israel who were present went out to the cities of Judah and broke in pieces the pillars and cut down the Asherim and broke down the high places and the altars throughout all Judah and Benjamin, and in Ephraim and Manasseh, until they had destroyed them all. Then all the people of Israel returned to their cities, every man to his possession. When all this had ended, the Israelites who were there went out to the towns of Judah, smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles. They destroyed the high places and the altars throughout Judah and Benjamin and in Ephraim and Manasseh. After they had destroyed all of them, the Israelites returned to their own towns and to their own property.
2 And Hezekiah appointed the divisions of the priests and Levites according to their divisions, each man according to his service, the priests and the Levites, for burnt offerings and peace offerings, to serve, and to give thanks, and to give praise in the gates of the camps of YHWH. And Hezekiah appointed the divisions of the priests and of the Levites, division by division, each according to his service, the priests and the Levites, for burnt offerings and peace offerings, to minister in the gates of the camp of the LORD and to give thanks and praise. Hezekiah assigned the priests and Levites to divisions—each of them according to their duties as priests or Levites—to offer burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, to minister, to give thanks and to sing praises at the gates of the LORD’s dwelling.
3 And a portion of the king was from his possessions for the burnt offerings, for burnt offerings of the morning and of the evening, and the burnt offerings for the Sabbaths and the New Moons and for the appointed times, as it is written in the Law of YHWH. The contribution of the king from his own possessions was for the burnt offerings: the burnt offerings of morning and evening, and the burnt offerings for the Sabbaths, the new moons, and the appointed feasts, as it is written in the Law of the LORD. The king contributed from his own possessions for the morning and evening burnt offerings and for the burnt offerings on the Sabbaths, at the New Moons and at the appointed festivals as written in the Law of the LORD.
4 And he told the people who dwelt in Jerusalem to give the portion of the priests and of the Levites, that they might devote themselves to the Law of YHWH. And he commanded the people who lived in Jerusalem to give the portion due to the priests and the Levites, that they might give themselves to the Law of the LORD. He ordered the people living in Jerusalem to give the portion due the priests and Levites so they could devote themselves to the Law of the LORD.
5 And at the spreading forth of the word, the sons of Israel multiplied the firstfruits of grain, and wine, and oil, and honey, and all the produce of the field; and they brought in the tithe of all the abundance. As soon as the command was spread abroad, the people of Israel gave in abundance the firstfruits of grain, wine, oil, honey, and of all the produce of the field. And they brought in abundantly the tithe of everything. As soon as the order went out, the Israelites generously gave the firstfruits of their grain, new wine, olive oil and honey and all that the fields produced. They brought a great amount, a tithe of everything.
6 And the sons of Israel and Judah who dwelt in the cities of Judah, even they, brought in the tithe of oxen and sheep, and the tithe of the holy things which were consecrated to YHWH their God, and they placed them in heaps upon heaps. And the people of Israel and Judah who lived in the cities of Judah also brought in the tithe of cattle and sheep, and the tithe of the dedicated things that had been dedicated to the LORD their God, and laid them in heaps. The people of Israel and Judah who lived in the towns of Judah also brought a tithe of their herds and flocks and a tithe of the holy things dedicated to the LORD their God, and they piled them in heaps.
7 In the third month they began laying them in heaps, and in the seventh month they finished. In the third month they began to pile up the heaps, and finished them in the seventh month. They began doing this in the third month and finished in the seventh month.
8 And the leaders came, and Hezekiah, and they saw the heaps, and they blessed YHWH and His people Israel. When Hezekiah and the princes came and saw the heaps, they blessed the LORD and his people Israel. When Hezekiah and his officials came and saw the heaps, they praised the LORD and blessed his people Israel.
9 And Hezekiah inquired with the priests and the Levites concerning the heaps. And Hezekiah questioned the priests and the Levites about the heaps. Hezekiah asked the priests and Levites about the heaps;
10 And Azariah the chief priest from the house of Zadok answered him and said, “From the beginning of the bringing of the contribution to the house of YHWH, there is an abundance to eat and to be satisfied and to leave over, for YHWH has blessed His people; and this store is left over.” Azariah the chief priest, who was of the house of Zadok, answered him, “Since they began to bring the contributions into the house of the LORD, we have eaten and had enough and have plenty left, for the LORD has blessed his people, so that we have this large amount left.” and Azariah the chief priest, from the family of Zadok, answered, “Since the people began to bring their contributions to the temple of the LORD, we have had enough to eat and plenty to spare, because the LORD has blessed his people, and this great amount is left over.”
11 And Hezekiah commanded them to prepare rooms in the house of YHWH, and they prepared them. Then Hezekiah commanded them to prepare chambers in the house of the LORD, and they prepared them. Hezekiah gave orders to prepare storerooms in the temple of the LORD, and this was done.
12 And they brought in the contribution and the tithes and the holy things in faithfulness. And over them was a leader, Conaniah the Levite, and Shimei his brother second. And they faithfully brought in the contributions, the tithes, and the dedicated things. The chief officer in charge of them was Conaniah the Levite, with Shimei his brother as second, Then they faithfully brought in the contributions, tithes and dedicated gifts. Konaniah, a Levite, was the overseer in charge of these things, and his brother Shimei was next in rank.
13 And Jehiel, and Azaziah, and Nahath, and Asahel, and Jerimoth, and Jozabad, and Eliel, and Ismachiah, and Mahath, and Benaiah were overseers under the hand of Conaniah and Shimei his brother, by the appointment of Hezekiah the king and Azariah the ruler of the house of God. while Jehiel, Azaziah, Nahath, Asahel, Jerimoth, Jozabad, Eliel, Ismachiah, Mahath, and Benaiah were overseers assisting Conaniah and Shimei his brother, by the appointment of Hezekiah the king and Azariah the chief officer of the house of God. Jehiel, Azaziah, Nahath, Asahel, Jerimoth, Jozabad, Eliel, Ismakiah, Mahath and Benaiah were assistants of Konaniah and Shimei his brother. All these served by appointment of King Hezekiah and Azariah the official in charge of the temple of God.
14 And Kore son of Imnah the Levite, the gatekeeper at the east, was over the freewill offerings to God, to give the contribution of YHWH, and the holy of holies. And Kore the son of Imnah the Levite, keeper of the east gate, was over the freewill offerings to God, to apportion the contribution reserved for the LORD and the most holy offerings. Kore son of Imnah the Levite, keeper of the East Gate, was in charge of the freewill offerings given to God, distributing the contributions made to the LORD and also the consecrated gifts.
15 And under him were Eden, and Minjamin, and Jeshua, and Shemaiah, Amariah, and Shecaniah, in the cities of the priests, in faithfulness to give to their brothers by divisions, to the great as well as the small, Eden, Miniamin, Jeshua, Shemaiah, Amariah, and Shecaniah were faithfully assisting him in the cities of the priests, to distribute the portions to their brothers, old and young alike, by divisions, Eden, Miniamin, Jeshua, Shemaiah, Amariah and Shekaniah assisted him faithfully in the towns of the priests, distributing to their fellow priests according to their divisions, old and young alike.
16 apart from their genealogy, to males from a son of three years and up—to everyone who entered the house of YHWH, by the matter of a day in its day, for their service in their charges, by their divisions— except those enrolled by genealogy, males from three years old and upward—all who entered the house of the LORD as the duty of each day required—for their service according to their offices, by their divisions. In addition, they distributed to the males three years old or more whose names were in the genealogical records—all who would enter the temple of the LORD to perform the daily duties of their various tasks, according to their responsibilities and their divisions.
17 and to the priests in the genealogy according to the house of their fathers, and to the Levites from a son of twenty years and up, according to their work, by their divisions, The enrollment of the priests was according to their fathers’ houses; that of the Levites from twenty years old and upward was according to their offices, by their divisions. And they distributed to the priests enrolled by their families in the genealogical records and likewise to the Levites twenty years old or more, according to their responsibilities and their divisions.
18 and to the genealogy among all their little ones, and their wives, and their sons and daughters, the whole company of them. For in their faithfulness they sanctified themselves in holiness. They were enrolled with all their little children, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, the whole assembly, for they were faithful in keeping themselves holy. They included all the little ones, the wives, and the sons and daughters of the whole community listed in these genealogical records. For they were faithful in consecrating themselves.
19 And for the sons of Aaron, the priests, in the fields of the pasturelands of their cities, in every city and city, were men who were designated by name to distribute portions to all the males among the priests and to all who were reckoned by genealogies among the Levites. And for the sons of Aaron, the priests, who were in the fields of common land belonging to their cities, there were men in the several cities who were designated by name to distribute portions to every male among the priests and to everyone among the Levites who was enrolled. As for the priests, the descendants of Aaron, who lived on the farm lands around their towns or in any other towns, men were designated by name to distribute portions to every male among them and to all who were recorded in the genealogies of the Levites.
20 And thus did Hezekiah throughout all Judah, and he did the good and the right and the true before YHWH his God. Thus Hezekiah did throughout all Judah, and he did what was good and right and faithful before the LORD his God. This is what Hezekiah did throughout Judah, doing what was good and right and faithful before the LORD his God.
21 And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law, and in the commandment, to seek his God with all his heart, he did it. And he prospered. And every work that he undertook in the service of the house of God and in accordance with the law and the commandments, seeking his God, he did with all his heart, and prospered. In everything that he undertook in the service of God’s temple and in obedience to the law and the commands, he sought his God and worked wholeheartedly. And so he prospered.
